Not tested it but a conjuration+illusion+restoration+smithing combo should break the game. Dual Dead Thralls with an extra 100 hitpoints under the effect of Call to Arms, wearing Daedric Armor with you healing and causing extra havok with turn undead/banish daedia/frenzy/flee. Yeeeeeea...

Oh and the Enchanting--->Alchemy---> Enchanting--->Alchemy--->Enchanting--->Smithing--->Enchanting circle jerk breaks it into itty bitty pieces.

This question about balancing is exactly why TES will never, and should never, be a multiplayer game.

Its not balanced, its not supposed to be balanced, and if you want a real hard scrabble challenge, just wait, the mods will hit soon, and you'll find entirely rewritten perk trees and spells.

I suspect a balancing mod JUST for casters, which I will use, because I am a veritable nightmare at level 15. Certain opponents can still cut through, but not for long.

And mages are kinda strong, but nowhere near as fun as they used to be. Why the fuck did they feel the need to complete remove spell forging? (Unless it's buried somewhere I haven't found, the mage guild doesn't seem to have it) That was my favorite part of Morrowind/Oblivion, and I really hope someone mods it back in, uses default spells only is a bit of a downer.
I liked custom spells too, but thats mostly because the existing spells were entirely useless. I've found that the written spells are actually usable.

Well I noticed Destruction magic levels up at the slowest rate of anything, and I use that 90% of the time so I guess they just knew people would get too good at it.

And it would be nice to know how powerful the damn enemies are in relation to you, some can barely touch me and then the next guy shatters me like an old violin... how about a "you are about to get prison raped" heads up.

Once you get to about level 40 it gets hard to die unless you're against a boss character or somesuch.

I love it. The dragons are great to fight (I just wish there was a less cowardy option then to run around a rock all the time). But it's the only way for most characters to survive a couple of attacks. That said, I also wish there was more survivability against sabre tooth, giants and frost trolls when you don't run away from them.

I'm not a fan of hybrid classes, so I made a pure rogue for my first playthrough.
Put points into sneak, pickpcoket, lockpick, and one handed on the dual weilding tree along with BSing to make deadric daggers. Level progression was decent, didnt have to many issues unless I was spotted or caught stealing.

Then my second play through, I made a sword and shield tank. This character leveled up so fast it wasnt even funny. By the time I was done in bleak falls barrow, I was level 7, when on my rogue, I was only level 3 coming out of it.

The only balance issue, if it's even an issue, is the level progression in toons. It just irks me when my rogue finishes the main story at 20ish, and my Warrior is damn near 50...

Well, I'm a shadowy archer assassin argonian first off and I can take down a dragon one on one with no cover pretty easily and sneak into a castle to assassinate an emperor without anyone noticing. However, I spent an hour trying to get into a fort full of bandits, they noticed me instantly and basically two shot me when they did.

Well, I've only had trouble with Mages and a few Silver Hand bandits, due to my Werewolfiness and low Magic resistance.

First I thing I noticed is that sometimes, the boss of a dungeon is a thousand times more powerful than any of the mooks. I blasted and chopped my way through a vampire infested fort pretty easily.

Then I found the Master Vampire who killed me in mere seconds. Yeeeaaaah...
I know exactally who you mean and the same happened to me. My advice, find a talking dog :p

I went Archery, Sneaking and Alchemy primeraly to make poisons. At level 24 i can on a first hit

Ebony Bow with Elven Arrows =60
Slow/poison on the arrow =86
+ critical hit damage (which i get 15% of the time)
x3 for sneak damage
------------------------------------------------------
somewhere between 400 and 500 damage

(i may have calculated crits and such wrong, if i have done so i apoligise)

this is massively different when i haven't got a sneak advantage of corse, but having that advantage actively encourages the sneak play style which i think is really clever.

It's the only class iv played but feel its really strong.

44 hours, just finished the main quest, level 33 and I use one hand with a healing spell and the other with Mehrunes' razor. I keep killing dragons in one hit, I'll also switch to Dawnbreaker for Undead and a blade's sword for the trickier fights. I use the full set of the nightingale armor and an amulet that gives me more Magicka
I put a lot into my smith skill and I have all of my equipment at at least flawless, one handed is currently at one hundred and my blades sword does 67 per hit. I almost constantly heal when in a fight, and I've noticed that this build is super OP. Kinda makes the game boring.

(edit) Sorry for the spelling the first time, touch screen keyboard misses letters sometimes

that's to be expected. the play styles of rogue and Warrior difer along the lines of avoidance and confrontation. For rogues sneaking, criticals and stealing are all you do. head on combat is avoided(armor leveling is cut down), smithing is cut down, enchanting is cut down, certain forms of weaponry are completely ignored by rogues(Long swords, hammers, axes). alongside all that rogues can avoid alot of combat while warriors still get sneaking stealing and criticals done. warriors just have to do alot more so they get all of the experience for it.

Stealth seems a little overpowered. I'm up to around 40 in it (light armor, archery, one-handed scout/skirmish build) and it's starting to feel like I can snipe my way through a number of encounters without getting my hands dirty.

Granted, the "boss battles" do tend to be a lot more rigorous.
Just wait 'til you get Throw Voice, then bosses will never find you unless you let them. It gets pretty silly.

OT: High-level Conjuration + Call shouts is pretty fun, basically have to run just to keep up with my little helpers. Bound Sword with perks in general seems a bit too powerful, what with getting rid of Atronachs with one hit and all.

Just like in the other TES games alchemy and enchanting break the game into tiny pieces. Also smithing.
i think they've fixed the enchanting with the whole "you need to destroy the item to learn the enchantment." deal. and smithing isnt so game-breaking, because you still need to perk it to get higher than iron/studded, which balances it a bit.

tbf though, to get Throw Voice you have to kill a Blood Dragon and a dragon priest.

I made a somewhat rounded battle mage (Heavy armor and high one handed attack, but decent with destructive magic). Most things die in one hit and if they don't, I just summon a high level daedra to finish them off.
Waitwut? I got myself a battlemage, but I'm nowhere near that powerful yet at level 22.
Wait...I'm only level 23.
What perks did you focus on? What apparel are you wearing? What are your weapons of choice?
Wearing a random assortment of heavy armor (dwarven armor, iron boots with 45 extra carry capacity, iron gloves with extra magicka, except my helmet which is a 100% magicka regen light mask which looks friggin' awesome to boot, and I'm wielding a 31 damage Skyforge Waraxe which has an awesome fire damage enchantment which, sadly, runs out really fast. I also just started using Adept level destruction magic. That ice storm spell is a real beast. I just happen to run out of magicka pretty fast, as I have to balance health with magicka. And I just got Impact, that really helps.
I'm full dwarf with various enchantments for magicka. Dual-wielding Sanguine's Rose and Dawnbreaker, though I will often switch to a schimitar and dwarf shield in order to recharge my soul gems.

I'm level 13 Mage (Destruction at skill 60), about half way through the main quest, but completed both Winterhold and Companions' quests. I can one shot most enemies I come across with dual casting lighting bolt, and with 430 mana with 200+% regen bonus, and the high elf mana boost ability, I can spam dual cast lighting bolts (with impact), and that is over powered but fun.

I don't want to spend too much time leveling for enchanting and potions, but I'm only just level 13!!! So given another 12 levels in just enchanting and alchemy, it's not hard to imagine a completely broken and unkillable character at level 25.

Most of the different builds are pretty balanced. Archery is a little tiny bit over-powered, especially against dragons, less so against trolls, and magic is a tiny bit more overpowered than that, but is a little weak against dragons. Although, board and sword is looking really strong too, has a really high execution rate.

If by 'balanced' you mean 'Are so overpowered that they're all about even', then yes. I agree.

I've tried almost every conceivable build by now. About to make a pure Conjuration character with special focus on dual wielding the Bound Sword and Battleaxe.
