First off, I would like to say that I'm having loads of fun with this game(actually the first Bethesda game I have played). I'm around 95 hours in on play time, though I've only done like 5 main quests, and I haven't even officially joined a side yet. Other than that I've done a little over 50 misc. quests and 3 side quests, couple Daedric quests. Just a whole lot of time exploring, and so far I am level 41.
Next any help given will have to be straight forward, since I'm playing it on the 360 and won't be able to go into any game files and change things.
My problem is this, I was just going about my day, going to Dragonsreach to enchant some Orcish armor I had made so it would make more money when I sell it. I walked into Dragonsreach and nothing out of the ordinary happened, the guard at the door spouted off one of those silly random one-liners(I think it was about my armor), then when I made my way up the steps and got close to the dinning tables, making my way to the wizard's office on the right, everybody flew into a fit of rage and started attacking me.
Now there are only two plausible reason they could be attacking me, but they aren't very solid reasons. First off, for the first time, I was accused(in a way rightly so, for a crime, though I don't know how they found out) and had to pay a 2040 gold bounty to one of the Whiterun guards just outside Whiterun. The only reason I could think that happened was that I slaughtered two Imperial soldiers and the nameless noble associated with them riding a horse. They seemed to be heading in the direction of Whiterun, though I don't know who could have seen me because before and after the battle, I had seen nobody around. I don't know, maybe a stray chicken saw it happen, or a butterfly passing by warned them. But later, after I had returned with a completed quest for the steward(kill some giants), I was stopped outside of Whiterun and told to pay the 2040 gold fine, because at the moment Whiterun is where I live, so I didn't want to resist arrest or go to jail. So I paid and what was apparently 14 carry weight in items was taken from me, don't even know what it was. Left the front door of Dragonsreach without going inside.
Well, after that I briefly forgot about turning in my quest to the steward, but then a few minutes later I remembered and went back to DR to turn in that "giant" quest. Nobody attacked me and the steward gave me a measly 100 gold(the compensation system for this game is wack).
That is the first possible reason for some people in DR wanting to tear my face off.
The other reason is even less plausible. I was up northwest and I had just completed the Labyrinth dungeon. I then walked down from there and into the valley where I ran into a group of three Imperial soldiers. Yes, I haven't joined the Stormcloaks yet, but since I'm going to anyway, my character's mind set is that the only good Imperial soldier is a dead Imperial soldier. So, I ended up killing all three. This time it showed me that I had received a 40 gold bounty on my head, but since all witnesses were taken care of it was removed. So after some random questing, I went back to Whiterun.
Nobody confronted me, I was just going about my day. I sold all my loot I didn't want to the female blacksmith since I have the Allure and Sell Anything to Any Shopkeeper perks, and then bought a bunch of ingots and arrows. Then I decided to craft some armor to sell to her to get my money back. So I made some Orcish armor and improved it, and decided to go enchant it to get more money out of it. That is when I entered Dragonsreach and only when I got near the dinning tables, I was set upon by all.
I reloaded and it still happens, though on the first reload, the Jarl and the steward didn't attack that time and I could talk to them even though I was being hacked to bits and burned by everybody else.
I don't know why this is happening. All my debts/bounties in the region are paid up, what is going on?
Hmm, maybe when I got near the dinning table, they thought that I was going to steal their sweet rolls.
What gets me is that the guards don't attack me, until I get close to the throne area and the others commence to attack.
How do I get them to stop this? I need my enchanting table. If I can't find a way to stop it, I guess it is time to go officially join the Stormcloaks and take the city.
