Skyrim - Worth waiting for the GOTY Edition?

I've been thinking about buying Skyrim for the last day or so, since I've heard that Amazon is selling it with a slight discount this weekend.

However, it seems that Bethesda always releases a Game of the Year edition for all of their games, and they usually sell at lower price, and include all the DLC.

Do you think it's worth waiting for GOTY edition? Or would it be better to just buy the stand-alone version now?

Tip: Wait until Christmas day. Find Skyrim for auction on eBay and bid on it. You'll probably get it for cheap. I do this sort of thing every year for different items.

No one shops on Christmas...except for opportunistic bastards who take advantage of people who don't pay attention to what day their auction ends.

It has more than enough content (like over 300 hours worth) to warrant buying it now. Plus you might have to wait a long time for a GOTY version seeing there isnt any DLC coming out soon (There obviously will be some but I can't see it being released for a few months) because the game hasn't been out all that long yet.

GOTY/Ultimate edition may be a while off. They are making every expansion pack Shivering Isles-sized-and-unique, so expect it in two, maybe even three years.

I was thinking of waiting like I did for new vegas but oh man am I glad I did not. I've pretty much been playing skyrim for the past month straight and am still only about halfway through all the quests, after heavy playing.

Nope. Get it now. An ultimate edition is quite far away with this game, and if they release a GotY one, I doubt it will have all of the DLC since it would be released in the next year.

If you can find a good deal now, gobble it up. It is completely worth it.

uh...how pinched for money are you?
Not very pinched at all, actually. I received a twenty-five dollar gift card for Amazon.com a while ago, so I could essentially buy it at half-price.

That's a good point. I'm sure that it's definitely worth thirty-dollars, but I'll give it some more thought. Mostly, I worry that it'll be too similar to Oblivion.
