Hey guys! I have a few days off work so I thought I might try and stay awake as long as possible and see if it effects my gaming.

I was wondering if anyone (prob everyone) has some experience with this. I have 2 questions: 1) What is your record for staying awake?
2) Do you find that your lack of sleep effects your gaming skills?

My answer to 1 is about 32 hours awake
My answer to 2 is that I found i was more distracted.

Just over 2 days for me i think. And yea, it effects your skills, you'll find yourself laughing at every random spray on the floors/walls.
I remember in the guinness book of records, some Chinese girl stayed awake for like 4 days playing WoW and died of sleep deprivation. Was called Snowly i think.

My awake record is 40 hours, but I wasn't gaming in that time.
Being awake that long affects all of my cognitive processes negatively, including gaming.

I've noticed that with mild sleep deprivation, say one night of sleep missed, I actually do better at TF2 than I do fully rested. However, it's a really fine line; if I haven't been up long enough, my performance is either impaired or unaltered, and if I've been up too long, I'm completely useless as a player. But if I'm in that Goldilocks zone, my team tends to win. A lot.

Edit: I missed the first question. My record is probably somewhere around 30 or 40 hours. It's pretty common for me to stay up all night and not go to bet until the following evening -- or even the wee hours of the morning after that -- but I've never really counted how long that would be. I'd also like to add to the second point that when I'm in that Goldilocks zone of sleep deprivation, my proofreading ability jumps up, because I notice grammatical errors much more acutely for some reason, and I get punchy -- sometimes to the point that an outside observer might think I was drunk or stoned. That last point makes mild sleep deprivation entertaining, on occasion...

My sleep record is just over 2 days probably.

And it effects my gaming because I can't keep my eyes open.

1:- 32 hours
2:- I find that up to 17hours to 22 hours I get worse but after that point I get really good. I do have the mild issue of at some point falling asleep during a game and wake about 12-13 hours later with the game still on.

Question 1, I stayed awake for 48 hours. That was about 6 or so years ago now, I can barely do 24 hours now.

Question 2, fuck no, I was still a beast at Monopoly. XD But yeah, I was pretty distracted. And there was a lot of "Hang on. ... ...What?" that night.

I really don't do the whole sleep dep. thing, but I do occasionally play a game through the night to finish it. Condemned 1 for example. Stayed up til eight in the morning, but I started at about nine at night.

1. 38 hours. The incredible thing here is that for the first 16 hours of that period of time I was at work doing some strenuous work in a steel factory.

2. It affects everything. Also gaming.

1. About 2 days
2. It definately does. After a while its hard to see whats going on, and thats kind of important in most games.
