I don't know where to look on the internet for my answers nor do I know what I would search on google other than what I have already.

Anyways I have many problems with sleep, most of all that when I get any more than about four or five hours I night I wake up with a sore throat, a cough, and generally feel like crap. The good thing is that I also only usually get about four or five hours of sleep when I sleep nightly. This is really for those times that I stay up for a few days on end.

I've had people say that it may be due to the fact that I had been up for three or four days in a row that makes me feel sick. I know that's not the case though because I feel this way even when I'm getting consecutive nights of eight hours. Also when I stay up for days on end and get the normal amount of sleep for me I don't feel this way.

Now the only real conclusion I can draw from this is that I'm allergic to getting a proper amount of sleep which just seems like an impossibility. One last thing I know of that people often attribute this to is that there's a problem with where I sleep but it happens no matter where I am.
I have the same problem. sounds like a post-nasal drip(?) im not sure if that's the right term, but basically what happens to me is mucus runs out of my nose and down my throat while i sleep, so in the morning i have a sore throat and a cough. It could be a sign of infection, or it could just be allergies. I'd ask a doctor about it or try taking some OTC allergy medication.

Hmm. Sleep apnea? (pretty sure I did not spell that right). Waking up with a sore throat and cough makes me wonder if you have been snoring your arse off in your sleep? People suffering that sometimes skip a breath or two that disturbs them and makes them wakeful.

Just a thought.
This could be a very good point. I think I have this issue but don't have the fund to get it checked out by a doctor. This can also be a life threatening condition.

I didn't sleep properly for the whole of 2008 and it was hell. Until I discovered the solution.

Masturbation! (or sex when I can get it)

I'm serious, ejaculation completely tires your body out and you have a happy sleep.
so that's why i sleep so well.o_O

OT:i tried sleeping pills once but they had the tendancy to get me in a 28 hour coma.
That's not healthy, but a hell of a good excuse to get off school.

Well you could be allergic to something in your room or in your bed? (could even be the type of soap used for washing your bed linens) You could also be sleeping with your mouth open to much, or doing alot of throat based snoring, which would also cause this.

You can try a few things, like changing your pillows around, changing your bed sheets etc. Try sleeping in a diffferent place, maybe crash on the couch, friends place etc etc

If it is s snoring thing, you might want to find out if you snore first, but if it is, lots of stuff around that can fix that.

Tips for a good night sleep
DONT do excersise or eat before sleep, you should be relaxed befor going to bed, so make sure you dont eat or do any sort of excersise about 2-3 hours befor bed (unless your like me and have insulin resistance and eating food makes you sleepy lol)

Dont take drugs to help you sleep as they cause un-natural sleeping paterns and you dont get a proper sleep.

Excersise, during the day (in the morning is good), this is not only good for you in general but it helps alot of with sleeping. There is a connection with being over weight and not getting a good night sleep.

But really it could be piles of different things and im no doctor, If it is a problem just see your GP and im sure they will have some ideas for you.

I use to get really sore thourgh after staying up all night, i found out I was just allergic to something and it didnt really effect me unless I stayed up all night (as not sleeping can cause your immune system to weaken) or I was already ill.

Take pills. By they way, I wouldn't worry about it too much, for about a week now, I've only had about three or four hours a night and I'm fine.

The answer is obvious; you're a creature of the night, a werewolf to be precise. Whenever you drift off to sleep you transform and roam the streets devouring small rodents and drunk teenagers. When you wake up the next morning, your throat feels sore from all the clothing grating inside your throat when you swallow.

On a serious note however, all we can really say is what the expert doctors who've trained for years in their field have told you - eat healthy, do some exercise, try and tire yourself out. Not much more sensible information we can add on top of that.

You know... actually yeah. Masturbation/sex can do anything. I lost loads of weight with it.

Nah, I get the same thing.

From what I gather, when you get less than optimal sleep, your body doesn't get the chance to get to it's proper optimal operation temperature for sleeping. It means that when you wake up, your body is still cold, and that causes sore throats, coughing, etc.

i'm going to say this first go to a doctor. secondly i'm think this could be psychosomatic and you're causing the sore throat cause you think you don't need sleep and such

anways if you want to get to sleep trying drinking warm milk and reading before you go to bed, i'm going to suggest the O'Rielly Media books or any other computer manual
