I'm posting this from my cell phone, so I'll comment more on this later.

All I can say is I'm saddened by the sudden loss of the studio. Sleeping Dogs remains one of my favorite games to this day. I wish all the former employees good luck moving on to new endeavors.

Huh.

It's not like they'd done much of note, but Sleeping Dogs was alright.

Oh, that's a shame. Still though, I'm not extremely surprised. Sleeping Dogs was pretty good but what had the studio done since then? Did they release any other titles since SD?

Always shame to hear this...seems we're moving to less in number, but more massive developers. And I'm just to about to start my first Sleeping Dogs playthrough.

While Sleeping Dogs lacked jetpacks and aircraft, it made up for it with nice little things like kung fu, action boarding and car ramming maneuvers. I normally dislike the whole finish a checklist of arbitrary variations of the same things scattered around an open world thing - but having grown up with Hong Kong cinema, Sleeping Dogs managed to hit all the right notes. Was hoping we'd get more someday. Heck, doesn't need to be some open world sandbox game. I'd settle for some cheesy linear FPS about police and triads.

Huh. Well, Sleeping Dogs was great, but now I look at it they haven't really produced anything else of note.

I guess that's what happens when you don't release a big title for four years straight. Maybe they had trouble getting funding? I really don't see why; they could've made decent bank just by making Sleeping Dogs 2.

Damn. Sleeping Dogs was such an underrated classic. No other open world game has gotten that thrill of jumping from car to car (maybe Just Cause?). Guess there'll never be a sequel. :( It was one of the best gangster games [http://www.gameslikezone.com/best-gangster-games-like-mafia-3/] ever released -- reminded me a little of the 'revenge' plot of Saints Rows 2, with an undercover twist. Melee was awesome, to the point you didn't even miss much of the gun action (there wasn't much).

:(

I feel the same way, I loved that game, it is so far the only open world game that I actually want to do all the little side quests for
Its a damn shame they couldn't follow it up with an actual Sleeping Dogs 2, I would love to step in the shoes of Wei Shen one more time.

I found Sleeping Dogs pretty underwhelming. There's not a single thing it did that wowed me. The combat is shallow, the gunplay and driving are unsatisfying, and the story I barely even remember, though I do recall finding the ending lame. I'm not really saddened by this news.
compared to my favorite games? Yeah, I can agree it wasn't amazing, and I wouldn't play it more than once.

For an open world style game? It was leaps and bounds better than alot of them in terms of combat and story, I make it maybe a half hour in any grand theft auto game before I'm drooling myself to sleep, same goes for saints row and the newer crackdown. If you are a fan of grand theft auto and saints row, I'm baffled that you were bored with sleeping dogs.

Pity. I really liked Sleeping Dogs and it was a nice change to play an open world game that wasn't set in a US city. Plus this video cracks me up everytime
