The only turn based game I can think of on the 360 is Civilisation: Revolutions. If you've got access to XBLA there'll be a ton on there, including a new Magic: The Gathering game.

Well first I'm genuinely sorry to hear about your state.
After a quick read-up on it, it seems treatments are available, and there might even be a good chance of a full recovery!
I honestly hope and pray that you get that recovery.

As for games, Civilization Revolutions is a slower-turn based game that is a lot of fun.
Also the XBLA game Risk: Factions is great (Especially if you like risk).
Depending on where you are, you might also consider EndWar. I know RTS games aren't very popular on consoles, but it's mostly voice controlled, and I found the voice controls to work really well. Plus I had a blast with it! But that would go in the 'iffy' pile. It's not fast paces, but it's not super slow either.

That's all I can think of now. I'll keep an eye out, though.

If you've got access to xbox market place I'd suggest Magic the Gathering. It's a turn based card game. Can be quite tactical when playing three or four way matches.

Lost Odyssey is a great turned based JRPG but its a good 0ne, and its slow paced. You can easily play it for about 80 hours, maybe more. Also try Dragon Age is very good, Its is real-time but also pause and play, its not very fast paced, and you can pause whenever you want.
And lastly Civilization Revolution is a turn based strategy game, it is also slow paced and really addictive, and its really good. I hope that helped, good luck, and get well soon.

thats what i said, ive played the demo and it seems quite in-depth. you can even put soldiers inside buildings which helps. all you do is simply say "squad 1 > enter > building A" etc etc

the only major problem is that having a really prominant scottish accent the game really didnt like me

1. Get a cheap computer, you don't need more then XP.
2. Get Fallout 1&2.
3. ???
4. Profit!

To clarify: A used laptop, and a mouse. If you can still control a computer mouse you'll have no problems.

There are some great tuned based strategy games on XBLA.
Greed Corp is a fun turned based strategy game, with a deforming world as you take out resources, its a a hex grid and turned based, but it works well on the 360.
Settlers of Catan Is a really fun board game.
You could try "the Secret of Monkey Island" its a point and click adventure.
Peggle is great, and it is easy and addictive.
I think Puzzle Quest only requires a few buttons to play and i think is relatively slow paced.
Pac-Man Championship Edition may work I haven't played it but I think its easy to control.
Carcassonne is another great board game that works well on the 360, and its fun.
You'll be in my thoughts and payers. I hope this helps

Tactics have really fun multiplayer. I still have fond memories of my Super Mutant Groetgaffel who was equiped with a rocket launcher and did more damage to my team then the enemy.
