I get this myself too much when I'm trying to tell a story of something that happened. Getting interrupted is just a whole new world of rude that I can't stand, however minor of an issue it may seem to some. It's embarrassing and sometimes all I can do is just smile and not to save arguments/bitterness.
I don't find many people as of late who like to listen to what someone has to say and this kinda shows in the whole business of interrupting others
I always wondered where it really comes from, because it seems like a specific mixture of rudeness and arrogance that regular humans just can't achieve.

I knew a girl once whose general behaviour seemed like she read a book entitled "Proper behaviour in social situations for dummies" and stuck to it. But after a while you realized it was all just an illusion she maintained. She would pretend to be genuinely interested in a conversation, but never pay any attention to what you say, she would - yes - cut you off mid-sentence, all the time maintaining this air of savoir-vivre expert around her.

I guess that's another one to add to the list - people who pretend to be nice instead of actually trying to be. There's a word for that, isn't there?

People who mispronounce the word "Have". It's not pronounced "Half" everybody, there is a "V".
I do that, but if I'm trying to get some kind of point across I pronounce everything correctly.

OT: When people act irrational, if they are acting like that because the aren't trying to accomplish anything, I (most if the time) don't let it other me.

When people add "Do you know what I mean?" or variations, at the end of everything they say. Yes I know what you mean dammit I just listened to you tell me and I do understand simple conversation, jerk.

And when people interrupt or talk over me, I used to stutter/stammer a lot as a child so people did that to me and its sort of developed into my beserk button over time.

Oh and when generalise wildly.

I will (intentionally) become a total dickhead if I feel someone's patronising me in even the slightest way; it pisses me off so much.

I think it's mainly to do with when you're a kid and what you say is written off, just because you're a kid. I'm 16 and intelligent, don't treat me like a moron whoever you are.
This also annoys me greatly, especially when the people who are being patronising try to justify why they're doing it or make it sound as if its all fine.

Hmmm... I don't have pet peeves. I have psychotic hatreds. People are one of the more nasty ones.

It'd be much better if a disaster happened, leaving only a hundred or so people left. Me, my parents, my boyfriend, and everyone else would be our slaves. :)

More on topic, though... The biggest thing that annoys me is people's stupid bullshit, that they would love nothing more than to tell you all about, or some assbasket that always finds a way to get offended at EVERYTHING. Grr...

People considiring a billion to be 10^9. It's 10^12. always has been, always will be
So what is 10^9 then, if not a billion?

OT: does smoking in my nearer surrounding count? Because I hate that, for some reason the smoke always goes my way and I end up smelling like some shitty bar.
Or else people borrowing things and then forgetting about it. Seriously, I had one person lending my game to another person because he thought it was his. How could you forget something like this?

It annoys me when people feel the need to bang on my door when I have a perfectly good door bell.

Think the word you're thinking is probably the same as what I am and not used for polite company hehe.
Seriously though, that is one hell of a deceptive character you've outlined there, just sad really when somebody can distance themselves away from the feelings of others over their own self importance because what they're doing "isn't wrong" or some other excuse.
I'll definitely agree with you adding that to the list too and make a copy for mine if you don't mind

When you're talking with someone and instead of actually saying a word, they say a shortened version of it. Seriously, I can understand it in a text-based situation, but in casual conversation? What the fuck?

Im not trying to make this thread sound like a rant but yeah.

people who talk obnoxiously loud on the phone.
people texting while driving.
people who ride their bikes on the road when a sidewalk is present.
Yes, the bikes, dear christ I hate that! "Theres a perfectly good path on a sidewalk next to you!" So yeah, that.

I'll try to keep ranting to a minimum, my apologies for what slips through.
*ahem*
-Crowds of people ignoring the other side of a not at all broken double door when dozens are trying to get through, all waiting to shuffle through the one door you'd think was pried open by the ancient ones the way people ignore the other one.
-interrupting someone mid-sentence
-people looking at their phone every 12 seconds
-mixing up "their" and "there"/ similar mix-ups
-people who get offended at "swear words," something I think you have to be programmed to find offensive.
-opinion correcting, "subjective" means there is no "right" answer, doesn't it?
-talking really loudly
-immaturity
-ignorance (Don't feel that bright myself for being angry about this one)
-standing in front of a door at any given time
-standing closely behind someone
-calling things "gay." I wish they'd say "that's homophobic," makes about as much sense and it doesn't sound discriminating.
-People covering their mouths when they laugh, mirth is not a crime, dammit!
-people that vocalize their every slightest thought
-playing music audible across the room
-coming into a movie theater after the previews
-jumping to conclusions
-pretending to have never hated a despised figure once they die, ex: micheal jackson
-swearing to "god," the act holds little or no meaning today (In my eyes) from most anyone besides a clergy member... and even then...
-smoking outdoors. Not sure why.

When you talk to someone and mid-sentence your conversational partner gets a text-message on their cell phone, and they start reading the text-message immidiately, even though you were still talking. I see it as a "yeah, I'm not interrested in talking with you really, this text-message is more interresting" sort-of ordeal >_>

Also, people using long super-intelligent words in everyday conversation just to make themselves look smarter.

If only there was a solution to these things... =/

Very specifically on the phones in cars front: People who mess with their phones as they pull up to a 4-way stop. Sorry everyone else at the intersection, but I'm not moving until that jackass starts looking at the road again so he or she doesn't ram into me.

People who look at me while laughing at something we are watching. I really don't get why they have to look around to make sure that, yes, other people are laughing. Is it some kind of validation trip?

When people CONSTANTLY slip the phrase "Like, you know." into everyday conversation. I once heard this guy say it TWENTY SEVEN TIMES IN A SINGLE SENTENCE! I counted.
that's ... physically impossible 27 times in 1 sentence? like.. you know that'd be a huge run on, i'd say that's probably a paragraph.

o right, i find repeating yourself multiple times in the same sentence to be annoying.
