I spend alot more time than I should thinking about my favorite works and thinking about how I would change them "for the better" (for me personally) somtimes even small changes would make things 10x more awsome, for example

[b/]Mass Effect[/b]

1.Relace Jacob with Kei Leng in ME2 (so no jacob)
2.while he remains neutral for the most part make it clear fundamentally he's still with cerberus and will part ways at the end
3. BAM charachtr made 50% less crappy in ME3

[b/]Fallout 3/NV[/b]
1. change very little but have dialouge play out like dragon age origins or KOTOR

Gears of War and Halo both suffer from having incredibly detailed back stories, that are never apparent in the game-play itself. They could both be improved with more story being implemented into the game-play rather than resorting to cut-scenes and books. Audio logs, more personal comms chatter, something that makes us care more about what's going on rather than just getting to the next objective marker.

Fallout and Skyrim would both be improved if enemies did not respawn in some areas. Obviously some places it makes sense to, but certain named areas it is somewhat disconcerting to come back a week later to find identical enemies having taken up residence in a place you cleared. Especially tombs in Skyrim where there is nowhere they could have come from. Or the Fiends in FNV when you have killed off their leaders.

Bioware if they improved on character models. They are known very well for the uncanny valley due to strange expressions on faces or body parts looking strange.

Thats the whole way it's story telling. You are told what is going on, but within the level, logs and such are hidden that go pretty damned deep that even people who cannot read the books will understand what is going on.

Dead Space 2, make a practically pitch black version.
"Make Nicole actually scary" would have been my suggestion bu yeah, less light would work too.

Darker dungeons in Skyrim wouldn't go amiss; I miss the caves in Oblivion where you actually needed a torch or Nighteye to get around.

More interesting/interactable NPCs in Metroid Prime Echoes and Corruption would be nice. I feel kind of sorry for the Marines in Corruption having been voiced by like...the same 2 people and still having nothing interesting to say.

While not my favorite games and since it's only small changes, for Pokemon games I'd give Pokemon four regular attacks and then a fifth "desperation" attack, one that's immensely powerful but you can only use when your health is below a certain level (say below 25%) and doesn't necessarily have that great of accuracy

But if we're allowed to completely overhaul our chosen game/movie/book/whatever then I have a completely different scenario for Pokemon games in mind

Not really my favorite but, Metal Gear Solid 4 would be a far better game if it ended 30 minutes earlier. You know, the part where he
shoots himself
Make that the real ending, fade to black, and it would have been a masterpiece. Instead, the actual ending makes Kojima seems coward.

What do you mean by that exactly? They're pretty similar to DA and KOTOR already. Unless you are talking about pulling it into third person.

OT.
Replace Hayden Christensen with Ryan Gosling for Anakin Skywalker.

Nothing to do with video games, but since I've been re-reading it recently...

Just have volume 2 of Fathom completely redrawn. I can kinda handle the story being all over the fucking place, but the artwork is just fucking horrendous. Its so bad that the characters look completely different one image to the next. I realise that it had... production issues at the time due to what was going on at Aspen, but thats no excuse for the terrible artwork.

Fortunately, Volume 3 pulls it back. Not enough though.

Have Metro 2034 translated to english. I loved the first book, but the second one doesn't have an english translation for some reason.
Have more...things in the Halo 4 campaign. I liked the story as it picks up on more of the lore, but it seemed as though every other level had the 'shoot the glowing blue spheres to disable x' objective.

Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood

Ed. Winry. Just kiss. I loved the series but when the grand conclusion of the salient romance is a hug and a picture of them with kids, I'm left with this feeling that there's unresolved sexual tension when it actually has been cleaned up. Just off screen were I can't get a feeling of resolution.

Final Fantasy IX, once the trance gauge is filled, give the option to active trance manually.
And not be automatically depleted when your current battle ends, even if you didn't fully use it up or even use it at all.

That's the only small change I could think of that would improve Final Fantasy IX... there are a few large changes I could think of, but that's not what this topic is about. :D

That could be applied to Mass Effect too. One of the stupidest parts of Mass Effect 1 that they didn't fix in Mass Effect 2 (didn't play 3) was that often times 2/3 of the dialogue options would be exactly the same, like say the neutral response and the renegade response would both be something like "Shut up and let's go." (not an actual in game example) or something.

I believe he wanted to end it with Snake dying (Which he has apparently wanted to do for quite a few games now but something prevents it every time) but his team refused to work on it.

I believe I read somewhere Kojima wishes the MGS games to stop (which is why there's such an emphasis on Snake's age and leaving the past in the past in 4) but the company makes it clear every time that they'll make new MGS games without him. And Kojima decided (and still decides every new MGS game he makes) that he'd rather work on drawing out the series itself, making sure that it's built according to his vision (insofar as that's possible) rather than let someone else screw it up even though he wants to create other games.

Dunno whether it is true and am too lazy to find the article/whatever it was where I got the info from, but it does make an interesting story.

Well, it's not really my favourite book, but I think that War and Peace might become a much less boring read with the addition of giant robots.

Also, Torchlight 2 had too many homing projectiles. As if someone on the dev team really liked the idea. Sure, it's a cool thing, but they are often very hard to dodge (especially those shot by the dwarven turrets in Act 4).

FTL needs an endless free-roaming mode where you can't unlock anything, but also aren't being chased by the rebel fleet.

Dead Island- Not having the entire gameplay play like an RPG but that's a big issue I have with it at times of dire boredom with grinding so I'll go with the choice of improving gun effectiveness on the undead.
