I like the skins you can unlock in the Ratchet and Clank series. Atleast I think that is considered a small thing.

This is why reading the manual and following tutorials is always a good idea. I went through 50 hours of this game before realising you could fiddle around with the 3rd person view to make it nicer.

OT - The Boomstick in Borderlands. Reference to an amazing movie , though it sucked as a weapon

The cellphone in No More Heroes. The grand total time that function was used was about 2-3 minutes, but it was so good.
Ah, so true. Friend of mine burst out laughing when he saw me useing my Wiimote as a cell phone. Also never realized that the Wiimote was capable of actual voices.

I prefer finding things out in-game. Less spoilers and it allows me to get more into the game (for some reason).

I think firing the lazor canon in Fallout 3: Mothership Zeta made my day. It wasn't a great DLC, but that one thing made me smile.

Yay, the computer players have to manage stuff as well!
Anyways, the pause button in most games. :D
But really, I think

All the "Irritated" sounds that units in WarCrafts II and III and StarCraft make when harassed. It really added a unique character to the Craft games and I find myself clicking units multiple times in other RTSes hoping for some funny quip.
That. and the exploding critters.

That was pretty awesome, too bad my wiimote doesn't seem to play it as clearly as it used to.

Anyway, remember how when you jumped while running in Shadow of the Colossus? When landed you would scramble to your feet? I don't know why but I love that. I wish it was in more games.

Same here. Usually when I play a game I'll spend the first couple minutes just pressing buttons and seeing what does what. I really only look at the game manuals if the control schemes are just way to unintuitive.

OT: I appreciate little details in games. For example, a while back when I still played CoH I was in a sewer level when I looked down and saw a bunch of cockroaches scurrying around on the floor. Ordinarily they are virtually undetectable, so I thought it was cool the Devs went to the trouble to put them in at all.

If I get stuck (and have resorted to hammering on the keyboard, I usually check the game's control settings page. Simple, spoiler free, and you don't even have to leave your game.

I liked the item editor in Star Ocean: Last Hope. I know it isn't exactly new but it's cool how they teach you the basics of how to make certain real-world dishes.

I also love how The Orange Box includes TF2 and Portal which have nothing to do with Half Life.

yah, that added a whole lot of realism. Also, after you killed the colossus and the black snakes come out, and they always give you a few seconds to get away. I've come so close to actually running away! but they always get me at the last moment! Argggh!

I liked the chickens in fable. You could test how strong you were by kicking them.
I also quite enjoyed Mieke(spelling?)the Liar in oblivion. I tried following him around everywhere.

Ouch... I was scared to go in there with a light, night vision mod and a Barrett .50 cal. mostly because I thought I'd get lost. Then I had to do some mission there...

You are a God Amongst us gamers, It was hard enough WITH the light.
I fucking hate that building...
You have no idea... I had a Chinese Assault Rifle and about 15,000 rounds for it (I always hoard ammo for my favoured weapon), I was actually firing off bullets to light my way!

The worst part was, when i went Bobblehead hunting, I learnt I missed the one in the Dunwich Building... (But I had Discovered the PipBoy Light by then!)

GRID and DiRT 2,every surface had it's own texture and attributes. Tires in the walls had different treads, the concrete walls had paint peeling off, and the gauges reflected light as in a real car, even when you're in using the chase cam.

The horse riding in the original Call of Juarez. Specifically the level where you just chase after a stagecoach on a horse picking off the mooks with a rifle. Not really necessary to the plot but a damn fun level to play.
