So recently Roy (Fire Emblem) and Ryu (Street Fighter) came out as DLC for Smash Bros. 4, and Nintendo has indicated they're plenty willing to add more characters that fans want/are interesting for them as time goes on (they even had an open poll some time ago for suggestions, though its closed now). So in the interest of fun I've been wondering; who would you like to see as a DLC character for Smash 4?

If we're going to being following the same trends as Nintendo has been for characters in Smash Bros., suggestions would need to follow the below guidelines;

- The character (or their series) must've appeared on at least one Nintendo System
- The developers must be on good terms with Nintendo/friends of Nintendo
- The more well known the series, the better a chance it has - though obviously obscure/old characters still have a chance
- The character should do their best to avoid being a clone/direct copy of another character

As for my own personal suggestions? I've got a damn list;

Bayonetta - Bayonetta

Django the Solar Boy - Boktai

Zero - Megaman Zero

Squid Girl - Splatoon

The Monster Hunter - Monster Hunter

The Farmer - Harvest Moon

Shantae the Half-Genie Hero - Shantae

Shanoa - Castlevania

Simon Belmont - Castlevania

Momiji - Ninja Gaiden/Dead or Alive

Line block from tetris. What? It would be quirky.

Fine someone with a personality, how about a final fantasy character? Bring in Sabin from final fantasy 6

it's been a couple years, but there was some flash game online called "super flash bros" or something, and it was a literal clone of brawl but had TONS of random characters from all over...one of the characters they had on there was sora from kingdom hearts, and to be honest it was a really fun character to play as, and seeing as how they had a game on the 3DS I don't see why they couldn't get him onto the new super smash, it'd be another awesome sword type character that fits with the art style.

I'd say Vyse from Skies of Arcadia, a Sega franchise.

But what do I know, I just love good air pirates. He's honestly my favorite one, as he's basically only a cameo character in side games. So, let's have him just be awesome in Smash, and you know, have Fina and Aika show up and fire the Delphinus' cannons/Fina, Aika and Drachma show up and fire the Little Jack's cannons onto the battlefield.

Or pirates wrath or something.

Ooh, and someone else said this; Isaac from Golden Sun. He already showed up as a trophy, so let's go ahead and just make him a full character. Maybe. Please.

I still want Serperior the Pokemon. Feels weird to have a fire and water starter without a grass one. Would gladly trade Jigglypuff or Mewtwo for a different Pokemon.

Issac, Felix, or Matthew from Golden Sun. Issac in particular, but the other two would be fine too. Would be such a great new character using his many different psyenergy moves.

Paper Mario. He could bring a lot of fun to the table. Perhaps he could have some of his partners from the different games, he could use his different abilities, etc.

Chrom. Yeah I know, no one wants another Fire Emblem character, as do I. I just like clamoring for Chrom at this point. He certainly had more potential to not be a Marth clone like Lucina and Roy.

Edit: Almost forgot, Simon Belmont would be excellent. His moveset is so obvious, and he would be kinda like Link where he has great close range, and long range attacks.

9-Volt; he can reference Nintendo's pre-NES days with gadgets such as the Ultra Machine (plastic baseball thrower, as a Turret) and the Ultra Hand as a long range punch/item-grabbing mechanic, he could also theoretically use the NES Zapper for run and gunning, or stabilized yet charging neutral A shots when crouching, his final smash could be called Nintendo Power; where he sprouts 2 guns/Power Gloves and an anti-grav jet-skateboard. functionally he should probably have a Charge-based mechanic similar to Little Mac, he gathers power for hitting enemies with harmful items and direct hit, Smash attacks ups the charge more. the charges effects the Zapper shots and the Ultra Machine. the run-and-gun elements of the Zapper would be similar to Mega Man, the Hoverboard would be like Peach's hover. would've went for Ashley but she seems more of an American-popular character, and Mona doesn't really have much static traits. 9-Volt seems easily believable as a more Retro-styled character.

He might be seen too much as a Mega Man/Ness/Lucas clone, maybe worse with yet another unique mechanic. kind of extreme since Shulk has Monado styles, WFT has breathing, Rosalina has Luma, Villager has his Pocket, Little Mac has his bar and Ryu has 6 moves/frame cancelling as core mechanics to make him a combo fighter closer to his series.

Zit and/or Rash from Battletoads... If both could be played like the Ice Climbers or like Rosalina and Luma, then it could be like how you play co-op in Battletoads...

Other than that, Rayman for a[nother] quirky fighter and/or Sora/Riku from Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance... Plus, I would want the Odama to be an assist trophy...

I haven't downloaded any of the 4 DLC chars yet, I'm having a bit of a break from Smash after playing it to death from January to April... Maybe someday.

As for who I'd like to see? Bayonetta is a good shout I think, they already have ZeroSuit Samus so the model is there to be changed appearancewise and just add her own moveset.
Maybe another Xenoblade character?
I'd love a Tales of Symphonia group of 2 or 3 from that series, Lloyd as the main protagonist would be a clear shout. Sheena would be a new type of character, a bit like Robins char with tomes I think. There's also Zelos, Kratos and WhatsHerFace tripping all the time.
Maybe an inkling from Splat00n?
I bet there are many more but these are the first that come to mind.

Travis Touchdown from No More Heroes!

I'm bias as I loved that character and the game! He would be a sword fighter and using his own skill set compared to the otehr sword fighter and I am assuming Platinum Games are in good terms with Nintendo.

While I say Ridley and Dark Samus, they're pretty clearly not going to happen.
Travis Touchdown would be cool, but I can't see him fitting in the E-T world of Smash.
Squidron characters could work, but I'm not familiar with the game.

Characters who can just be alternate costumes for existing characters:
Robin: Actual Robin. Robin was a beefy dude with short brown hair, not a svelte dude with anime hair. If you're going to put a character in a game, make them look like they're supposed to look.
Lucina/Marth: Chrom.
Roy: Eliwood.
Ryu: Ken.

On a side note, anyone able to connect to the eShop? You're supposed to get into the game first and then access the eShop from there, right? All that's been happening for me is me getting kicked back to the main menu every single time. Is there a flood of buyers or something?

On topic:
As amusing to see Bayonetta there, not sure how'd they handle making her kid-friendly. With Snake, they made him use explosives for insane amount of chaos and fun.

As for my list?
Snake deserves a return, especially with the possibility of advertising the last MGS game from Kojima.
Ice Climbers can be a WiiU exclusive, since apparently there were hardware problems putting them on the DS.
Piichu for the lulz. I remember getting pretty far in a college tournament even with the obvious flaws.
Sora and Riku would fit in pretty well, and could be used to advertise KH3 even more.
Guessing Splatoon Girl is an inevitability, rather than wishful thinking. (As one more familiar with FPS, this game is hilariously awesome to watch the younger generation play.)
Tingle for lulz and salt.

Those are just a few off the top of my head at the moment.

I think Shantae, Shovel Knight, Bayoneta, and Splatoon Kid/Squid (male and female variations) are all good fits for Smash 4

but I doubt any DLC will come out anytime soon now, I would argue there isn't going to be any more DLC for Smash 4 and they'll probably save any future DLC plans to release and updated version of Smash 4 for the NX

I'm curious what Robin you're referring to. Because the default look of the Avatar character from Awakening looks pretty similar to the Smash version.

I think he meant Robin from Batman... Well if we must have any Batman character, why not Batman?

I personally wouldn't mind Yu Narukami, or someone else from the Persona series making an appearance. Though it might be somewhat of a longshot being that Persona Q is the only Nintendo game he, and most of the other Persona cast have appeared in.

Anybody from Golden Sun would be at the top of my list, though Issac, Felix, or Matthew would be the most likely

Shovel Knight would be a fun addition, since it was inspired by quite a few Nintendo games.

Maybe some characters from Hyrule Warriors like Zant, Impa, Girahim, or Agatha.

Ahh, that makes sense. And actually, Robin from Batman might be better than the Bat himself for a Smash style game and aesthetic.

Isn't Travis maybe a bit too mature for Smash? Like Bayonetta.
