Not true, His father is only mentioned in passing in the Gen 1 games when looking at a SNES in the Celadon Dept. Store. Also, the lead story boarder for the Anime said in an interview that Ash's father is on his own journey and may or may not be introduced in the series, it depends on how Ash's character arc plays out and if its needed to further mature the character.
