I would have never guessed that you liked Sniper games.
why my friend?
Lol maybe because you started TWO threads today about sniper games. If you aren't a fan, I don't know what you could be.
Eh, can't be all bad. Game takes place in WWII. Can't be a MMS by definition now. :)

I played Sniper Elite 2 and 3 and they are extremely mediocre if not for it's one redeeming quality which..you guessed it. :p The X-ray kill cam is grand and the age old question ''can I hit im in the nuts from here?'' never gets old but the sniping part is build around a really shitty third person shooter with clumsy controls. Besides that the maps are way too cramped most of the time to really make advantage of the thrill of a super long distance shot(maybe something that's mitigated now with the franchise abandoning previous gen).

This game could be awesome if the maps were way larger with fewer enemies(yet smarter AI) and with a complete focus on the sniping. I wish this series could finally invoke that ''Enemy at the Gates'' feel instead of being just another mediocre game by Rebellion. Still it's mediocre with potential so hopefully third time's a charm.

Uber meh. Didn't like the second one, third doesn't look any different.

I went into it for the stealth, left absolutely disappointed.

That would be nice. Then again, firefights in your average fps take place at considerably shorter ranges than they would in their real life counterparts and this has remained more or less consistent since the genre's early days. Why that is can probably be attributed to the genre's notable focus on visual fidelity, which combined with hardware limitations, restrict the size of levels. Although it may also be a conscious design decision in some cases, because unless a game specifically focuses on that style of gameplay, it probably wouldn't be considered 'fun' to get killed by some shooter hidden in a building a couple of hundred yards away.

Which is one of the reasons I've always had some appreciation for the early Delta Force games.

While they were never the cream of the crop of the fps genre, they did offer things no other game at the time did. Such as really being able to snipe someone from a mile away with the right weapon, in maps that were several times larger than that. It also had other features that were novel at the time, such as bullet drop-off and needing to compensate for wind. It could make for some really tense moments where you could lie prone on a hill somewhere, looking at another hill hundreds of yards away, trying to figure out which of those tiny dots in the distance was just a bush or cactus and which was another sniper trying to do the same to you.

Sniper Elite 4 "that looks nothing like Italy"

Okay I like the games and the setting could be interesting but I had that feel all the way through the teaser trailer.

I have the second in 360 with GwG and bought the third one almost half and a year ago. I havent make time to play any of them unfortunatelly. My last experience with the franchise was the demo of the second by the time of release and I was turned out because once I shoot, all enemies knew where I was and the level design didn't give much space to navigate and ambush.

It's really a shame, a proper sniper-themed game (set in a pre-modern setting, long-range shooting today would bore anyone but the hardcore sim audience to death) has so much potential, but they waste it on a mediocre third-person shooter with absolutely horrible distance compression. I don't recall ever making a shot past 200, maybe 250 meters in Sniper Elite V2, which is nothing even with a rifle from that era. Zero two inches high at 100 meters (which is another thing, the damn rifle scopes in Sniper Elite are never dialed in properly), hold around upper-torso height and you'll reliably hit a man-sized target out to 400-500m.

You wanna do something impressive in a sniper game? Make it actually stealth-oriented, unlike Sniper Elite where triggering an alarm just means more guys to shoot. Carlos "White Feather" Hathcock once spent four days crawling through a snake-infested field in Vietnam (nearly being bitten by a venomous bamboo viper, and barely avoiding being stepped on by an enemy patrol), all to fire one shot, successfully taking out a high-ranking NVA officer. That's the kind of stuff you want to be doing in a sniper game.

They need to make it like original Sniper elite. 2 was step back linear. 3 was good but original is still best.

they are now making largest map in sniper elite game.

Sweet. I enjoy me some snipering/sneaky games. And I enjoyed SE3. If it's at least as good as that one, I'll definitely pick this one up.

I wonder if they are still doing to do the MK-style disturbing levels of detail with "X-Rays" of how the people you shoot guy.
I mean, I saw the videos of the Nut shots and I'm really wondering if there is someone on the dev team that has a really weird fetish for these kinda things >.>

Oh wow the alpha footage to Sniper Elite 4 looks amazing and most of the issues I had with the previous games seems addressed. Way bigger maps(even the smallest is 3 x larger than the maps in SE 3), smooth and responsive controls and a general fluidity to the gameplay that was lacking in the previous games. It looks way better as well and the X-ray cam for explosive kills is a neat little addition. Really looking forward to this game now as Rebellion finally seems to be making a great game with their third installment. And...

..nut shots are back! :p
