I lived in Boston for many years and owned a pair of Sorel [http://www.sorelfootwear.co.uk/men-boots] boots. That was a long time ago and I don't remember which exact model I had. The ones I had were essentially a rubber bottom with a waterproof leather upper which didn't provide much ankle support. Didn't have much money back then, and if I were to buy another pair now I would go for something like the Conquest [http://www.sorelfootwear.co.uk/mens-conquest-boot-NM1049.html?dwvar_NM1049_variationColor=287&cgid=men-boots] due to my damaged ankles (due to a collection of injuries, not due to the boots).
The nice thing about Sorel is most of their line comes with a removable felt liner, which is more like a very thick sock. Thing is, I sweat a ton, including my feet. Those boots were almost too warm.
My feet are slightly wide so I had to try them out in store. Oh, and it's slightly suspect that Sorel lists temperature ratings for their boots as equal for both Celsius and Fahrenheit. Equal as in -40F/-40C. Probably just a typo.
*EDIT* Oh, -40 is the same for both Celsius and Fahrenheit lol.
