Just to say that probably the greatest cartoon of my childhood is coming out with (FINALLY) A new series. Been waiting for this for a lonnnnnng time.

There's the teaser trailer. What are your takes?
I think it will be shit. Why? Because they say it takes place 70 years after Ang. Look at all the architecture in the background. They went from stone palaces to metal/glass scrappers in just 70 years? Sorry but it bothers me. I will probably watch some and give it a try, but that is already my nitpick at this show.

I did like the awesome Ang statue.

I still have hope! Call me an opptimist really, I loved this show, and from the looks of everything I see so far, I'm hopeful it will be at least as good as the first. The same studio is doing the artwork, the original creators are doing the storyline, and it's being based to older fans more so then bringing newer fans.

I just really, really, reallllly hope they dont screw this up. We deserve it after that crap M. Night put us through.

Yes! This show is going to be awesome. However, due to the fact that she has already mastered 3 of the 4 Bending elements, I don't know if this will be a long spin-off series. It could, however, extend to life as the new Avatar and maybe deal with future struggles that a fully fledged Avatar might face (something that we did not get to see with Aang).

Whilst that DID strike me as odd, Toph discovered Metal bending, and while she may be many things, she isn't the type to not share knowledge with privileged students. It's entirely possible that she shared the knowledge and passed it on. Coupled with the growth of the fire nation(In a time of war no less) being forwarded to all the remaining nations, it isn't that big of a stretch that the world Capital has exponentially improved in a time of peace~ish. I just hope there isn't a Sokka wannabe...I love Sokka, but if there's a wanna be, I might just cry.

I tried to get into the series but for some reason it just wouldn't "click" with me. I forget, is the show more like fantasy in nature cause I'll confess, fantasy type things are a bit hit or miss with me. Well that and that vile witch Azula not getting punished at the end of the series was rather annoying to me.

Still, after that god awful movie/insult to the fans of the series I'm glad to hear the fans are getting another series and I hope it'll run for a long time for you guys. :D

Well, I'm convinced.

Anyway, I'd find it weird if a sequel DIDN'T attempt to bridge continuity with some sort of connection to the prior show. So yeah, I agree. Not a reboot.

Kind of wondering if we see Aang in this show as the equivalent of Avatar Roku. Since there's clear precedent and all.

I am really looking forward to watching that new show. I hope there is a Sokka kinda guy though. Because the story was great, in Aang's story. But I stuck around for their wacky antics.
The show would be lost without the rare art of Snarkbending.

His comic relief basically MADE that show. they had an excellent story, and then they throw him and Toph in and viola! instant hilarity. That being said, They could never replace him. But I hope whatever comic relief they come up with is at least AS good.

This looks like something I might want to look into.

Thus far, I always dismissed Avatar as kiddie stuff.

For a minute there I misread the title as in they were going to make a sequel to the horrid live action version, thank Aang I was wrong!
OT- I'm looking forward to it mainly I want to see what happen to the Aang and Co after the war ended. Man they had advance alot due to some of the scenes resemble 60-80's like the street and their clothings (I wouldn't seen the present since they haven't built computers yet).

Is it written by the same people?
Does it have funny sidekicks?
Does it bend stuff?

If yes then we're in for a treat.

Somewhat old news, was announced awhile back. But I am really looking forward to it though. Should be interesting to see how everything plays out. Also the description answers where she will learn airbending from, was wondering how that would work considering Aang is dead and all and was the last.
Aang dies? Well fuck that, not watchin them now. Thanks.
Kinda obvious... it is about the next avatar, there is only a new avatar when the old one dies.

That is a terrible mistake, my friend. I work with a 60 year old man who I've talked to about it in detail. It's a great show that everyone can enjoy.

This scene was sped up a few times to avoid being removed from Youtube.
Here's a collection of funny clips from one episode.
This is a small clip from an episode of shorts. This is the ending to my favorite short from that episode.
Yeah, I spent a while just to find clips that were decent and not part of AMVs (way
harder than that sounds), so I think I'll stop here. I recommend you give the show a try.
Yeah... that dialogue. That's what I'm talking about.

I find it to be undeniably kid-ish.

This "Toff" individual seems pretty awesome though

I know right?

It came out in my early teens, late childhood. I'm bloody twenty-one now. Its ridiculous. Although I dont know whats more ridiculous. That remembering liking this makes me feel old, or the fact that I'm excited for the new series makes me feel young....

Ack life! Your pulling a fast one on me!

Well, in the show, the Fire Nation seemed to be in a bit of an industrial revolution which happened in our world from the 1850's to the start of the 20th century. Assuming the Fire Nation is the equivalent to the start of the industrial revolution in 1850, and assuming the rate of scientific progress was more or less the same, 70 years later would be in the 1920's.

Well, the main characters all range from about 12-16, so there's that. But hey, if you don't like the dialog, that's your own opinion. Never really bothered me.

But, yeah, Toph is a fan favorite. She's a confident sarcastic blind tomboy. She sees through earthbending (giving her certain advantages and disadvantages) and at a young age entered an earthbending fighting exhibition (similar to wrestling) and held a 42-0 record against grown men. These weren't fake fights, she was just better than even the best fighters there. She even beat them all at once. She was more or less self taught to boot. Did I mention she invented metalbending? Because she did.
A link to the video since it won't let me embed it.

oh her? She's been blind since birth but has learned to see her surroundings through vibrations from the ground (and because of this, she's a prodigy at Earth-Bending).

Trouble is, she's only useful against ground forces and is borderline useless against targets like birds or planes (in fact in Toph's 1st fight against Aang, she loses because Aang kept gliding around using air tricks)and she doesn't like flying on Appa because then she's reduced to little more than, well, a blind girl.

I like her, and since she comes from a VERY powerful family, she can get the group almost anywhere in the Earth Kingdom and has a leg up on Katara when it comes to formal meetings (thus making her a valuable member and NOT some token side-kick).
