you'r a bit late to this as the escapist had something on this... well, a while ago.

OT: Im cautiously optimistic and thats all I can say.
Yeah, I remember.... distantly, like over a year ago or something. This is just the first footage that I've been able to find. And likewise, I'm being a little bit hopefull, but not to an extreme amount.

I have to wonder you age if you consider that a childhood show and being waiting 3 years for a reboot of sorts a long time(Kind of irrelevant but probably just a bit passionately worded). I suppose it is good that it continues but in my opinion it was better that it ended before it got really stupid or to the point where it ran out of money and could not have a proper ending or decided not to have a proper ending(Shaman King, Zoids worst cliff hanger endings).
To be fair, it's not a reboot, it's really a sequel set 70 years after the first show. ;)

On Topic: It's not exactly news, but yeah, I'm excited as hell. Brike have yet to disappoint, and this series is looking to be just as good as the previous one, possibly even better. The animation is eye-candy, that's for sure.
I know but it just seems a bit rebooty because the other one ended and there has been some time elapse between this and original series and you know they are going to somehow bring in all the descendants of the older characters or the actual characters one way or another.
Only descendant is Aang's son...because he's the only air bender left... naturally.

I'm sure they will tie in stuff in other ways or do hints to stuff I would be surprised if there no allusions to the previous series what so ever.

Somewhat old news, was announced awhile back. But I am really looking forward to it though. Should be interesting to see how everything plays out. Also the description answers where she will learn airbending from, was wondering how that would work considering Aang is dead and all and was the last.
Aang dies? Well fuck that, not watchin them now. Thanks.
He doesn't die during the course of the show, but considering The Legend of Korra is about the next avatar, he logically must be dead at this point.

there are more airbenders due to the world capital, where all four element benders can live in harmony, Aang and Zuko built the city together, so that all can live in harmony, and all elements can thrive. Also if this does take place around their equivlant of our 1920's there was a huge a movement where religion was being tossed out the door. Since there is this anti-bending movement going around, it would make sense that our 1920's line up with them to a degree.

I'm liking the slightly steam-punk-esque look they've got going for it and *bounces up and down like an excited 5-year-old* I can't wait!!!!!!!!!

It also said that the police chief is Toph's daughter who is also a metal bender.

this is comfirmed, toph most likely shared the knowledge to those who she thought were worthy and started the police, most likely.

Seriously? A fact I havent heard yet. She'll more then likely have the same attitude then. Heh. But that's pretty badass. Imagine cops with metalbending. You'd never break a law again.

... EVER.

Haha that's awesome! I haven't seen the movie and even though it's supposed to be crap I kind of want to see it. One of the few good things I've heard about it is that it's got really good special effects, which I would like to see.
Nooooooo! dont do it! It'll ruin so much! Seriously. That movie was TERRIBLE. Sokka? He's super serious. comic relief? gone. and he was one of the best parts of the entire show.

Heh I'll never forget....

"I'm just a guy, with a boomerang. I didnt ask for all this flying... and magic..."

"Its.... a giant mushroom! MAYBE ITS FRIENDLY!"

"I'm just sayin, weird stuff happens to us."

I bloody well loved this cartoon.
Drink cactus juice, boy. It'll quench ya'.

Yeah, I love that show. I never watched the live-action movie and I never will.

Huh.

This looks like something I might want to look into.

Thus far, I always dismissed Avatar as kiddie stuff.
Well it is technically a kids show, but it was designed in a way that it can be enjoyed by both children and a more older audience. Sure there might be some kiddie humour here and there, but there are also moments where aspects like grief, revenge, honour, murder, loss, war, racism, social status and other themes come into play. Oh, and there are some pretty good fight scnes spread throughout and some very impressive scenary and animation.

The actual show is set during a war, a war that starts with a genocide, and the main antagonist slightly mirrors Hitler...you don't see stuff like that very often in "kiddie" shows.

Give it a try, if you don't like it, oh well, if you do then great!

Just stay the hell away from M. Night Shyamalan's live action film adaption!
