.... Ever hear of Billy Joel?

I just YouTubed him. I'd not heard of him, but I've heard his songs. My only response to that is: ever heard of Jimmi Hendrix?

There is two whole albums of Jimmy Hendrix on Rock Band already and there is also two big packs of Billy Joel coming to rock band later on. I know it doesn't help but I just wanted to pop in randomly and say that.

Also keyboard is awesome in my opinion.

More bands need Saxophones. Power metal gets keytars, make a new kind of metal for Saxophones!

I mean, listen to a song like Suburbia, by Trombone Shorty. The sax just really gives it so much more punch!

How uncool is playing the keyboard in a band?

Are you kidding? A skilled keyboard player can add whole levels of depth to a band when far to many rely on a more traditional setup. Adding aditional instuments to a band (as long as they're played well) can change the sound for the better, and does consistently.

Personally, I hated the keyboard-including bands the dominated the airwaves in the 70's and 80's, but I'm a blues man at heart. Nightwish does some hot shit with keyboards, but for the most part, I can't stand the things.

Give me a good piano any day.

Unfortunately keyboards are the new trend in my local city's music scene. They're mixing with the old trend of hardcore music so I see a guy running on the spot hitting a few keys, headbanging and then hitting play on his laptop to play the sound bits. Not really that cool, but that's just in my experience.

On the other hand, I believe Hallelujah sounds better on piano than guitar..

But seriously, keyboards can kick a**! Nobuo Uematsu (for those of you not in the know, the composer for Final Fantasy music) plays one of the coolest and meanest keyboards for the Black Mages. Sure, a ripping guitar solo is awesome, but don't dis the keyboard. Otherwise, you're probably just some wannabe rock star whose fine with any vanilla wah-wah that a lot of bands tend to spew out.

Totally, its a whole new level of difficulty and really satisfying even if you're just tapping a single button in Du Hast on Medium, though its a step down from how insane Pro Guitar must be.

As to whether or not its cool, who the hell cares? I'm not a lame ass who worries about if someone thinks my goofy little keyboard is cool or not. It's fun to play, end of discussion.

Im the only one of my friends who can actually play the damn thing decently because I've taken piano/keyboard lessons for a few years.
Also, yeah....it was expensive.

I...I can create chord structures.

That's about it. >.<

Three and a half years of theory led me to buy a cheap keyboard, but I'm not very good.
