What combination of characters do you use to unrelentingly destroy your opponents? and also what makes them so effective for you?

my brother is playing this game as we speak, and he uses Wesker, Vergil, and Dr. Doom. It's a pretty powerful group. Although Vergil has some good speed and an insane amount of ways to combo, if he screws up a combo, he's wide open for a beat down, at least a full second being unable to defend. Wesker, he's fast, insanely powerful and well... just a pain to fight. Dr. Doom can be just insanely cheap, but he has a bit of a learning curve.

so anyways, I'm curious to know everyone else uses. :D

Dude , tell you brother not to use wesker . He is so overpowered , i absolutely HATE fighting against any wesker player , so much damage! I personally use x-23 , morrigan and strifer hiryu . X-23 is damn near unstoppable i find , when played right. Forget wolverine , x-23 is where it is at . Her only weekness i find is against keepaway characters , someone i get around with practice ( i started playing in december ) but man is it tough.

Morrigans astral vision super is deadly , she has few moves but puts deadly pressure on my oppenents . Soul fist , air dash and simple combos for the win ( btw i hate when people floats in the air and spam soul fist)

Strider is a mix-up king . He is the newest guy on my team . I started using him about a week ago and damn . High , low , front , back , he can attack you from anywhere. When played properly he keeps my opponents guessing . He also punishes my opponents mistakes . Don't mess around with strider .

I'm still a beginner, i just recently got my win/lose ratio to 1 ( after about 450 online matches). I sti ll got a lot to learn , but i am having a hell of a time doing it .

I use Nova, Dr. Doom, and Spencer.

Nova because...I dunno. I just picked him up and he's not too hard to do decent combos with. Also a good matchup with Spencer even though I haven't really learned how to utilize Spencer's assists to make better combos.

Dr. Doom just because I LOVE the way his combos look. Gotta love a full Doom corner loop into his lvl 3. Makes me feel so awesome.

Spencer is just my comeback machine. I still need to learn more than basic stuff with him since I feel like I'm using him as a crutch. That Bionic Arm is just so useful, though.

My secondary team is Nemesis, Captain America, and Sentinel.

Don't really have a reason why I chose Nemesis, I just like playing as him.

Cap and Sentinel go pretty well together utilizing Cap's backflip and Sentinel's drones so that's the reasoning behind that. Honestly need to learn some real Sentinel combos though. As of now he's really just an assist character on that team.

Dante, Vergil and Trish. I'm not competitive, and I just play with friends offline where we all suck so I just picked my favorite characters. Sometimes I'll switch them out with Ammy or Deadpool though. One of my friends hates Deadpool since she just runs forward and mashes buttons so I'll spam pineapple surprise and she runs into it every time. You'd think she would learn. She kicked my ass the first few times we played so I adapted to use keepaway moves.

MODOK/Haggar and I have a variety of 3rd characters, X-23, Super Skrull, Phoenix Wright, and Arthur. I'm also practicing with Iron Fist.

MODOK is great against characters with a lot of beam moves. His air game is surprisingly good. Keep-away with MODOK using Haggar's assist against any teleporters is sure to drive anyone crazy. I tend to switch to Haggar or my third if they get a little too close. Or if they think they're gonna hit me with some big move, I just use Killer Illumination.

Haggar's has some simple enought combos, a shit-ton of HP and the H Violent Axe is surprisingly effective at closing gaps. The MODOK assist gives me a projectile, and the third often can help as well. And the lead pipe of doom has won me so many matches.

X-23 is good for OTGs to extend combos and is extremely good in certain situations
Super Skrull is a great bruiser, and his command grab leads into one of the easiest combos in the game.
Phoenix requires some set-up, but with good evidence he's an even better keep-away character than MODOK.
Arthur also is great for messing with people's heads and them trying to get in real close, or even switching out to a teleporter.

I can honestly say , i have yet to see a player use arthur online ... How does that work? Assuming you use him in online play.

I barely use Arthur. But he has some uses. His Fire Bottle assist is an ok OTG move. Using King's Armor has some decent moves, and they come out faster. Arthur is at his best when he has a ton of meter to work with, and with Level 3 X-Factor, just one good hit can lead to a big, damaging combo.

But seeing how people who teleport are so commonly used on online play, and they completely rape Arthur, I almost never use him.

Phoenix Wright, Amaterasu and X-23. Team uh... I'll get back to you when i think of a team name for these three.

Phoenix Wright is a boss no question, I still can't believe how Capcom managed to make him in character and arguably God Tier. His Lvl 3 is freakin' awesome!

Ammy and X-23 both come under the "nippy little bastard" section of course. I seem to have trouble with keepaway characters. A good Morrigan is just pure pain for me.

And just for curiosity's sake how many people still play Phoenix (that's fire lady Phoenix, not lawyer Phoenix) after her health was really badly nerfed.

Oh and what does Thor's "Mighty Speech" do? Apart from leave him open to Phoenix Wright's Ace Attorney lvl3 that is.

It was weird "he's just started an epic monologue... What? Can i just... The one who actually commited the crime... Yeahhhhh the fuck Thor?

Thors speach builds meter . You just need a lot of time to gain one bar. Unless you can get your opponent to freeze or something , haven't seen anyone use it .

Also phoenix wright is amazing , IF you get all your evidence and sthuff , which isn't hard to do if you build a team around him. I have yet to see frank west hit level 3 though.

I've got a combo that I find reaaaaaally weird, it just seems..... contrary to my usual style
Chris Redfield-Great with guns and grenades, but I adore his combination punch.
Wesker-Hard to use, but if things go right I can blitz the opponent with him.
Deadpool-Because that man is my god..... Also his guns fit the others perfectly and he's the ideal middle man in a super combo.

I lead with Chris but he's also my X factor last resort, plus he's wonderful for juggling.

I haven't played in awhile now, but when I last did, I was using Hawkeye, and a combination of any of the following characters:

Akuma, X-23, Trish, Nemesis, Nova, Viewtiful Joe, Deadpool, Felicia, Doctor Strange, Wesker, and Hulk.

Really though, Hawkeye is by far my best character. I just clicked with him.

Currently going with a Frank West, Trish, Tron team. Frank is a great starter because using assists to juggle during snapshot combos can get his levels up right quick then he can plow through most low-to-mid health characters in a single combo. Trish is a great assist character, though her combos leave a lot to be desired but as a support character her traps and THC potential are unmatched. I use Tron as my anchor namely because she has a lot of health and she has easy combos that do lots of damage and require no assists. I originally wanted to use Hsien-ko but her inability to dash just makes her frustrating to play.

First off, if anyone uses Wesker, get the fuck out, he's the derpiest most broken as shit character in the game and anyone who uses him has no respect for fair play.

X-23, Vergil and Ammy. All in white, of course.

X-23 is insanely quick, and because she's not as derpy as Wolverine, it's really easy to mixup your opponent with her. I use Vergil's Rapid Slash to pick up characters I OTG with Ankle Slice to extend combos and use Ammy's Cold Star assist to lockdown character's in the corner so I can use Mirage Feint for mixups.

If you can get into a good rythm, Vergil is a brilliant character, but he has to be used with caution because most of his moves are unsafe on block, that's where Ammy comes in again, during a block string I'll call Ammy's assist to get me out of a combo safely and go in for a teleport mixup. X-23's Ankle Slice assist extend Vergil's combos because it hits OTG.

Ammy has always been my backup plan. I've used her since day one of vanilla and she's the character I'm most confident in using. I've destroyed entire teams with a level 3 X-factored Ammy, and because I actually use her properly, nobody expects me to use her counter moves. Works brilliantly against derpy Haggars using the pipe and spammy Metor Smash Skrulls.

My teams are either:

Pheonix Wright, Nova, Amaterasu (Nova and Ammy cover PW pretty well)

Nova, Dante/Doom, Zero/ammy

Or when I'm really pissed Nova, Dante/Ammy/Doom, Sentinel.

(I only just started to use Dr Doom, BTW. So my strategy with him involves pretty much nonstop "FOOT DIVE!"s)

Also, please note that I don't play online. I only play with friends. I'm not that big a fighting game aficionado that I want to play online against people I don't know, who probably have the strategy guide open on their laps as they play.

Spider Man or Deadpool on point/Vergil or Deadpool or Ghost Rider on second/Dante on anchor.

I seem to be losing to the All Canadian choice of Zero/anyone else/that is high tier teams. Seriously. I if I go on, 5 teams will usually be Zero/Wolverine/whoever.

Haven't played it since I am mad at Capcom for things. But to actually contribute, I used Chris Morrigan and Amaterasu in Vanilla 3, and when I get it for cheap used, probably either Chris or Stryder with Frank West and Phoenix Wright

I used Wolverine/Wesker/Akuma (aka GodMode.team) in vanilla. In ultimate Wolverine is pretty ass, so I swapped to Spencer/Wesker/Akuma. Seems to work well, but if I lose Akuma assist I have a lot of trouble getting in. Most of my mix-ups come from zip-line or teleport with Tatsu assist.

Also, if you aren't using Wesker... you really should be. He's easy to play, does easily the highest damage in the game, and he has an amazing command grab that you can combo off of. It's pretty silly honestly.
