So an honest question

Hey everyone, So Duke Nukem is coming out soon and for my age (15) I'm realitivley new to the gaming scene.I'm a Halo, CoD, and BFBC2 player and I saw Duke Nukem. I have an honest question, what is Duke Nukem, and should I pick it up, or wait for Portal 2. I'm open to new games's I just want to hear some opinions on it before I go out and buy it. Also yes I don't qualify for the 17 rating, to be honest I don't care, I can tell the difference between reality and video games. Thanks community

Duke Nukem was, in its day, a masterpiece. There were only a handful of FPS games out back then - you could have either Doom or Wolfenstien 3D. Then The Duke turned up in an utterly ridiculous yet utterly sublime shooter that was very in-your-face with a sense of humour that was both mature and utterly childish in equal measure.

It was a promise that FPS games didn't have to take themselves too seriously but could still remain awesome. It was also the first one I can remember to let you truly aim up and down as well as left to right (or did Dark Forces pip it to the post? So long ago now...). Seeing yourself in a mirror for the first time was pretty cool as well. I do remember the bosses being hard as fuck though.

The real question though, is who is Duke Nukem? Duke Nukem was basically a caricature of every big screen action hero from the 90's with a dollop of the players character from Doom thrown in for good measure. The game was funny and daring in its day, but it remains to be seen if it has stood the test of time. I, for one, really hope it has.
