I will try my best to do this without ruining the story for anyone. So, I just finished Gears 3, and to be complety honest, it was terrible. The story was all over the place, the ending was pointless, they try to cut all the loose threads and only make some of them worse. They were tyring to be bigger and better then Gears 2 and again make a complete flop of that. Nothing is nearly as "epic" as the second game. The new weapons are either complety usless or too much of a bother to actually use. They try to include the Sliverback as if it was always there, and mess that up too. Out of the entire game, there was only one part I liked, and that was the cutscene at the end of Act 3 if I am right. If you have seen it, you know what i mean. I loved the second one and thought the first was good as well. This is just my opinion of course, how did you feel about it?

EDIT:I also want to point out that i did read the books, but i am also looking at it from the view of someone who didn't. If you didn't read the books or the comics you would have no idea who half the new people are.

I haven't played Gears 3, but from what I've seen I am disappointed.

Then again, I was disappointed by Gears 2 also. I was a massive fan of Gears of War when it first came out on Xbox, but I didn't think I would see 2 sequels so generic and released so quickly.

The typical polished gameplay and awesome graphics are obviously still there, but I just don't see enough of a good reason to jump back into the world of Gears of War after 2 outings already.

Besides, with all the great stuff coming out soon I decided to save my money for sequels with slightly more imagination.

I liked it, the storyline was decent and it was fun. The only thing I think the game can do without is the sawed off, seriously fuck that gun.

I love it. Haven't played the campaign but Horde and Beast are awesome. The whole ranking system is also great considering everything contributes to it, from Single player to co-op to multiplayer.

I haven't beaten the story yet but I think it's really good so far, the story is decent it's not a great story but it works. The gameplay is better and I like all the execution moves they added that varies considering what gun your using, I liked that the best.

Read the books Jacinto's Remnant and Coalition's End.

Not only are they fairly good reads but many things in Gears 3 make more sense after reading them.

Its the same as say, the Captain America film; they didn't explain a lot of the things because they assumed that if you cared you'd have found out about them in the Thor movie or by reading about them. They weren't going to shoehorn in all the exposition just because you didn't care enough to read the other things.

I absolutely love the game. Campaign, Beast Mode, Horde, dedicated servers. The new upgrades in Horde mode especially. I have a habit of using the Retro Lancer, I consider it OP at times but it's a decent weapon.

I do have one major disappointment/rant though, it seems people have returned to the old habits in Gears 2. The shotgun, it now seems in multiplayer that's the only gun that anyone ever uses, even at long range. A friend commented and said they should just remove all other weapons and keep the shotguns, considering that's the only weapon that exists to some people apparently.

The best out of all of the games. The longest most story packed Gears yet with scenes that actually made me cry. I'm a massive Gears fan and I think that the ending was great. May the Serans live in peace. Though at the very end it almost makes you feel bad for the locust. Then you realize what they did to humanity and it goes away.

I finished the campaign and was like 'so, thats it?' The part at the end of act 3 I saw coming from a mile off, especially after they mentioned *possible spoiler* who used to live in that town. The ending was ok but just felt pointless, kinda like they ended it with a 'rock fall, everyone dies' soloution. The gameplay and graphics are, however, some of the best ive seen for a while. They also leave too many plot holes open, that pissed me off a bit. Its worth getting if you enjoyed the series or like third person shooters, but the story should have been better.

Some spoilers on when characters are in the game, but none on what happens to them. Just disclaiming that now in case people don't want to know that yet.

The campaign didn't live up to what I had hoped for really. The ending didn't really feel like it brought a tone of closure to the experience and that it was a suitable end for the trilogy. My biggest complaint though has to be how you were stuck with characters that had only really been brought in new during this game for the last few acts. I'm sorry, but why do I have Sam, Jace, and Anya, and not Cole, Baird, and the new Carmine? You only really have the squad brought back fully for the final act, and even then it's not even at the start that you're with them but at almost the halfway mark. Especially Clay as well since he comes in even later, and is only in for a cutscene. I was hoping to have the third Carmine brother with us for a good chunk of it, like Ben in the second, but he doesn't, only appearing in the last half of the first act, a cutscene in the final, and for a couple scenes in between.

So ya, overall biggest complaint is that for the final game, you really aren't with the established or wanted crew for most of it. Instead we get stuck with Jace and Sam, who I don't care if they had previously established backstories in novels, aren't the ones that I want to be killing Locust with when shit hits the fan. The extension to the cast was not needed, especially when they felt like they were replacing and edging out the previously established characters.

Though I will say that the gameplay has been improved quite a bit in my eyes. The changes to Horde were exactly what was needed, Beast is a fun addition, and the multiplayer has been tweaked to what I find a sweet spot, between being able to have fun with it without having that hard of a learning curve. That said, the Sawn-Off needs a patch in my eyes as it's very annoying to get a suicidal opponent charge you with it.

In the end though, I enjoyed it. While the story and characters weren't what I hoped, the settings were varied and interesting enough, and the gameplay was exceptionally solid and fun.

Yeah, my friend and I were talking while we were playing. "Right now, there are countless players out there going, 'Wait...who the hell are these people? What's going on?'" I, for one, am loving the story because it's continuing where the book left off. The only thing I wish had been done was naming the two Gears who came with Prescott. Rivera and Lowe (were those the right names?)

The only thing I'm disappointed in so far is the fact that I had my entire squad planned out. We were all going to play opening night on Hardcore and do the first two Acts. Instead, one of my friends says he's not getting it til Friday, and the other decides he wants to play splitscreen with his cousin at his house. My four-man squad was cut down to two. But then, that's not the game's fault...

Haven't finished it yet but I've been really impressed with the story (the game is outstanding) so far, especially in the delivery. Maybe because I had such low expectations to begin with, but I have to say so far it's on its way to being my personal game of the year at this point.
