So now that Medal of honor: Warfighter has been officially announced how is everyone feeling about it? I would guess I am in the minority that may actually be interested in it. I didn't hate the original. It had problems up the wazoo, but I didn't hate it espicially since I bought it later for cheap.

I actuallly felt that the reboot has a lot of potential. I liked a lot of what they did with the campaign. It was a too linear in terms of invisible walls and some to simple missions like the lack on chalenge for long range shooting, and the between mission cutscenes were silly. That said what they did with the in game story telling and scenarios were pretty good. It was disapointing in that as soon as I was really getting into it.... it was over.

As for the multiplayer portion it also had problems but I liked a lot of the ideas such as choosing between offensive and defnsive actions depending on the situations, attachments dictating playstyle rather than arbitrary perks, and the single best territory control gametype of any infantry based shooter. Sector Control was fast paced and the quick capture rate allowed for teams to make a decent comeback.(I <3 sector control).

The thing I liked best about it was that the game as a whole was more grounded than some of the other clones that had come out. CoD jumed the shark in MW2 and stuff like Homefront was already full of crazy. What I liked about CoD4 is that it was somewhat grounded(compared to its sequels) and to me MoH felt more like a continuation of that aspect than the actual MW2.

So anyone else interested in the upcoming MoH?

That depends on what they do with the campaign.

I liked the last one. I really did! It was interesting to play a modern shooter based on an ongoing conflict, and what's best, and actual operation of that conflict. It felt slower, better-paced than the frenetic MW series, and just overall better grounded in reality (as much as you can under the circumstances, anyway).

If they keep it up, and give us another interesting look at modern warfare as it is, I might be getting it. If it lets itself get reeled in by MW, and goes balls-out with explosions and Russian extremists, I'll probably give it a pass.

Oh I sure as shit am. I LOVED the campaign for Operation Anaconda, so I REALLY look forward to what danger close has for us next. Especially after reading an article in USAToday about the game (http://content.usatoday.com/communities/gamehunters/post/2012/02/medal-of-honor-warfighter-to-deploy-in-october/1#.T1BAjnLspyF), I couldn't be more interested in seeing the personal stories and lives of Mother and Preacher.

Christ I have the site in my bookmarks for constant updates.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
I kinda liked the last one but since its ea and they seem determined to be stupid with pc games I'll probably not give a damn.

Well, I only played the multiplayer beta for the... "original," but according to the posts above me the singleplayer was actually decent, which surprises me. Seemed like just another modern combat shooter with lots of sand. I wish they'd make Airborne 2, but I know that won't ever happen. :p

Anyway, I briefly watched a video about the announcement and apparently the developers are planning to keep Warfighter (I honestly thought they were making a flight sim with the Medal of Honor name when I saw that) away from the Michael Bay type of action, so that's great to hear. I guess I'll have to check out the... "original."

I enjoyed MOH and I'm looking forward to Warfighter, especially since you get to play as non-american coalition forces. I hope they bring back Voodoo with plenty of tomahawk action. One problem I did have with MOH was the mission Breaking Bagram. I enjoyed the mission it's just that in real life the British Special Boat Service captured Bagram, whereas in game it was a joint US/Northern Alliance force that took it.

As excited as I am for the inclusion of other special operations forces and that article is promising. I hope they don't use that PETN business as an excuse to do some sort of globe hopping business where we end up trying to stop the explosive from going off in some major western metroplis.

I just hope they keep to places in active conflict zones like Afganistan or other on and off hostpots where some off these forces might actually be deployed. SOmething like playing as Russian Spetsnaz in Chechnya would also be pretty interesting.

Basically I just don't want them to pull a Battlefield 3 with insane number of terrorists managing to infiltrate major western cities with enough hardware to level half the city even without WMDs.

I also hope they don't make up some sort of conflict just to pacify the people who complained about the inclusion of the Taliban or because they didn't beat CoD they throw all the grounded in real life conflicts because "well that didn't work obviously people just want brainless michael bay action"
