Yeah. So I was in my german class at school yesterday and we had to log onto like a message page thing to do a group vocabulary test and this dude was insulting people in navi. Ironically he is the guy with thre lowest grades. That is how He spends his time in lessons where he should be learning a real
language that can get him somewhere instead of a fake one. So I want to know escapists. What are your thoughts on navi being a Language?

Oh and ps. My german teacher is now taking the piss outa him.

If people want to speak it, that's their choice. I've got no issues with it.

This is the same question I have with every one of these stupid things. How do you get enough words from a movie to effectively communicate with someone?

so wait he kept saying "HELLO HEY LISTEN!" during the whole class ? that would get rather annoying...

but in all seriousness i am wondering where he found a navi dictonary i wouldn't mind learning it. it seems to me that it could be the next klingon.

To be fair, Cameron hired a linguist to actually create the Na'vi language. so it was a proper (if fictional) language before it was actually in the film.

Ha, what a dick.

As far as I remember barely any Navi is spoken in the film, so how can he profess to know the "language"

Call me old school but, I'm still trying to find a means by which to learn Twi-Lek...and Mandalorian although, since they are a collective of different species, they may not have a native language [anymore]

Well, I'd have a lot more respect for something like that if they learned a fake language from a good IP, like Sindarin from LoTR. Alas, he chose the smurf language from a mediocre one.

But from your description it seems like he only chose to learn the curses, implying his immaturity. Hope the teacher whips him into shape.

Well honestly he can speak whatever the hell he likes its his own life hes screwing up. Unless of course the Navi are real then everyone in the world will look to him to translate

So...is he saying "Hey listen!" all the time or speaking like the Navi race from Avatar?

Either way, that's fucking annoying.

Cameron actually had a linguist make the language for him, i'm sure it's online somewhere, or someone made a stupid app at some point in time to translate things for you.

I ask the same question. I'm curious, is there some fan community out there extending the Na'vi language or is it something semi-official?

Weird that people want to pick up on Na'vi language. I thought it was just some freaks on deviantart with a Na'vi fetish, though maybe I'm not one to talk, as I was translating Elvish in maths class years back... ^^; (always had good grades for my languages though).
