So, apparently you can get banned from Live because you're too good?

Slow down, hold on, wait a minute, Jesus Christ.

Okay, so let me start with a short summary of how I have come to pose this question to you guys. Let me apologise right now for the wall of text:

I was on Xbox Live today, playing on the new Barebones playlists that [what remains of] Infinity Ward have rolled out*, and while playing found myself at odds with someone on the internet.

Since I never heard the person's voice, I won't assume if it was a male or a female. But I can tell, by the colourful use of lanuage used in the messages that were sent after the matches we played together, that this person was a sore loser. Whoever they were, they kept sending me messages telling me they would ban me for glitching.

FYI, I wasn't glitching. I was just playing pretty well, if I say so myself. I managed to keep about 20 or so kills above my deaths in most of my matches today. He tried to say that my using the AK with a silencer and aiming round corners (I've never heard of it, but he accused me of 'hardaiming', which I do not know about), was noobish and glitchy. I have no idea why.

I kinda worry a little bit, because whoever it was that took offence to my playing might get a whole bunch of likeminded individuals and send, en masse, complaints about me, which might lead to me being banned from Live.

Anyways, I was just wondering if I've got anything to worry about. And also, if you have any funny or farcical stories concerning a similarly sore loser over the internet, I'd love to hear about it.

*By the way, if you're wondering what the Barebones playlists are, they're new playlists that don't have killstreaks activated. I was playing on the Barebones Objectives playlist, which is actually pretty kick-ass.

[EDIT]
By the way, I don't mean to suggest that I'm super awesome at Modern Warfare 2. Or any kind of other video game, for that matter. I'm just saying that I played pretty damn well today, and I don't think the person I played against could handle it.

You won't get banned.

I've been told I was going to be reported and I'd have demos people have had specced from me sent away. It just turns out I can could headshot with a quickscope whilst jumping out of a window in CoD2. I miss that game, I never get accused of hacking anymore. :(

It won't lead to anything as long as the admins are competent, I've never heard of one of the whiny bitches getting people banned just because they were sore losers, they need proof you were hacking.

Thanks, man, that's actually quite a relief to hear that :p

I'm fairly certain that this is just one case of an angry sore loser, I doubt he/she would be able to mobilise any kind of group of people to all complain about you, plus I think the Mods running Xbox Live would realise that you weren't glitching in any way, after all I've never heard of 'Hard Aiming', so whoever it is is just overreacting and it's probably nothing to be concerned about.

On halo combat eveolved on the PC i was often accused of aimbotting because i am really good with a magnum and a mouse makes it much easier to headshot.

I think hardaiming is the one where you spend a while in scope. Basically, when you act like a sniper. I never really understood the hate it got, anyway.

Did you save those colorful messages? If so, couldn't you get them for harassment? You should just to shut them up for good lol

I'm not certain, but "hardaiming" is, I think (this is what the internet showed me), where you look down your sights and shoot someone rather than shooting from the hip. Which is apparently... bad?

Well... I guess I had the sight down while I went round corners? I very rarely stand completely still with the scope down for any substantial length of time - even if I've got a sniper rifle on me - and by substantial, I mean more than... maybe 5 seconds?

Don't worry about it. If you have a sniper rifle, you're expected to use the scope. It's kind of what it's there for.
According to the majority of the Modern Warfare 2 community, if you use the scope, you're a cheater, and if you don't, you're a hacker.

Definitely not sore losers, eh?

'OMFG! You're aiming, you're not suppose to do that! You Hacker!!!!!!!1'

You are serious that people complain about looking down the sights of a gun in MW2?

On Topic, I think you have nothing fear from a sore loser.

Wow... So, essentially, I'm being called a glitcher for using the very gameplay innovation that put the original Call of Duty on the map?

You've got nothing to worry about dude. Most of the glitches they accuse you of aren't even real most of the time. I've been accused of 'window hacking' which, as it turned out, was the practice of me being in a window, popping up, shooting and killing, and popping back down. Also known as 'using cover' in the real world.

Plus, I think there has to be a substantial number of complaints before they act. I remember the Javelin thing that was going about, and my mate's brother got away with that for weeks before they banned him for it.

You won't get banned, I'm not entirely sure but I think hard aiming honestly means you were simply holding the LT to aim.(Y'know, like how you're supposed to do it.) The last time I played MW2 I noticed an increasing trend of people who think the only legit way to play is to tap the aim button to auto lock on then fire. That was only applied to sniping I'll admit but knowing the MW2 community it's probably spread to the other guns too.

What if maybe this guy/girl was once a smart, intelligent, non-assuming individual. But Call of Duty has teared his mind apart, and now all he can see are hackers!

Damn that game and it's brainwashing!

You wont be banned for glitching, they need proof of cheating however they will take a hard look at your account if you have enough complaints so make sure you have no swear words or anything that might even be remotely offensive in your profile.

It happened to me, got a 3 day ban for my motto... but thats okay, apparently im good enough to warrant enough hatred to have that happen.

I was once banned from a Counter-Strike server for "suspicion of hacking".

Okay, so I did really good with an M4 that day. :)
