An economic protest meant to send a message to the backers of SOPA/PIPA/PCIPA/other censorship bills that are heavily backed by the entertainment industry.

I'm participating, although more out of necessity than a political statement.

By the way, if you want to say "I will, except for Mass Effect 3", please don't even bother. You're not participating, end of.

I guess you could say I'm almost always participating, seeing as I rarely buy movies, music, or games.

'course, this is what I think of most internet boycotts:

I wish that wasn't so true.

No. No I will not be doing so. Then again, I don't plan on buying anything soon. The only thing I'm looking at buying that costs more than lunch is a new rifle, and that's a ways away.

I guess I am, because I'm not buying anything due to my current state of wealth and the lack of interesting games coming out.

I am yes, but mainly because I have a lot of essays to write for university in March anyway, so I don't really need distractions. I doubt it will have any effect though, sadly.

I probably won't buy anything this month anyway, so I'd be participating without realising it.
I don't really see the pont of these, 'don't buy anything for X days' protests, beause yes it will eave a hole in theprofi margins, but it will get filled up almost as soon as the protest is over as everyone buys the things they didn't buy during the protest.

I see no reason not to buy from companies that openly said SOPA can go fuck itself.
But eh, I view all this as being pretty much wasted effort. If I stand against SOPA I will do so with lighter in one hand a bottle of gasoline mixed with dish washing liquid with a rag stuffed in it in the other. You know, the only fucking way thats worth half a damn.

Sorry, nope. Mass Effect 3 and all. I'm up for Black April though (although that's not as catchy a title)

I am participating in this. Not only because I hardly buy nor download anything nowadays but also because internet censorship is not the way to solve copyright infringement. While I would love for this to work, I have serious doubts that it would. One whole month of not buying media is a lot to ask from many people, but if just about everyone did participate, then I think it would have a massive difference.

This would also give me and others a chance to play other titles that I already own that haven't been played in months and sometimes years. Oh, and also catch up on some study.

But....but I already pre-ordered Mass Effect 3 :<

Seriously though, this protest is one of the most poorly planned ones I have ever seen. Expecting this to actually hurt the industry and make them rethink their ways is like expecting a squirrel to take down an elephant.
