I can only imagine there will be many vids parodying the season finale much like this.

And I have seen previous Pony versions using this song.

What the fuck in tarnation? I thought wedding part 2 was to be released next saturday. Holy guacamoly, TO THE TUBES!
So did I! I was watching it live and when the first part ended on a cliffhanger I was kinda upset (though not surprised, of course), but then it just kept going! I am so glad I got up early for it.

Wow, this thread sure took off in my absence, didn't it? Looks like I missed a page, but Macgyvercas covered that for me.

Artistic wise they just made Disney their *****.
In truth, I think Disney slowly started losing their touch long ago. Ever since they tried going for the 'Real World' type of shows, their ratings aren't as nice as they used to be while MLP: FiM has been rising. So I would assume around say Season 1 of episode 22, the fanbase has overcame the community that's all for Disney.

Of course, Disney's legacy may always be on top since you know... they're extremely well off plus keep making good movies now and again. Sadly, the movies of today were nothing like the original classics hence why they're selling movies that date 20 or more years ago as special editions.
I don't think it's right to call it Disney's legacy like they have no chance of redemption, princess and the frog was really sweet, they are localizing studio Gibli's films rather competently and while the live action stuff is terrible the actual cartoons are still pretty great, if the episodes are slightly hit and miss though.

There were many great episodes
Sure, it wasn't as special as season 1, but how can you compare it to what made you love it in the first place
Some of my favourite episodes were in season 2 (Including the finale)
So overall I was pleased with it, now for season 3!

While it goes through some pacing and plot hole issues, Its still a fantastic 2-fer.

Don't forget TRON. Bonus points for not even really needing a story.

Season 2 I think was very good. It focused more on the relationship between characters more than the characters themselves better than season 1, the animation was (obviously) better, and well...
The finale was absolutely amazing. The animation was definitely kicked up a notch, the story was well paced, Queen Chyralis is just awesome. No, seriously, favorite villain so far. Unlike Discord or NMM, she actual planned things out, which gave me a vibe that she could actually win, though she obviously wouldn't cause its a kids show. And the songs.

They got Disney in my ponies. And its absolutely amazing.

It had its highs and lows. Overall, not as good as Season 1, but some episodes were brilliant.

Though I never really got where the Changelings came from. Was there previous mention of them, or did they (writers) pull them (Changelings) out of their (writers') asses?
The changelings have always been there. Look in the background. Those Colgate duplicates? They're changelings. An extra Lyra? She's a changeling. Bon Bon showing up somewhere she shouldn't be? Changeling. Why do you think they were able to launch an attack on Equestria's capital without anypony else noticing? They have a vast network of informants and sleeper agents, an entire army hiding right under Celestia's nose. There are no continuity errors in MLP:FIM, no animation glitches, no lazy animators. Every mistake we thought we caught was just a changeling being careless. But they're not gone, and they will strike again, and we'll never see it coming.

It all makes sense now.

...Wait, why couldn't the changelings change into unique ponies then?

They can, but since the mane six are rather high profile they're more sneaky about it.

Edit: And if you mean just making their own pony avatars - they said that they have to copy somepony, they can't just turn into whatever they want.

Good point there- however, they are losing fans overtime. Almost 'all' their shows on Disney channel is reality shows that are really cheesy if not painful to watch. Maybe only one-two of the live shows are fine but the others.. i've tried watching them. Couldn't because it's just ridiculous and the jokes get old real fast. In fact, these shows don't even feel like they're Disney material.

The only way Disney will redeem itself (well, redeem seems harsh. I'll just say get back on top) is if they focus on making really good classic movies like Princess and the Frog (I loved that movie). Luckily, Disney Land gets them a lot of support to keep running along with other things such as merchandise and so forth. Still, to this day I would say MLP is being more successful then over 80% of the cartoons/networks that are up today on TV/online.
Most cartoons have gone downhill I think mostly because the internet has become so prominent. Cartoons are mainly aimed at children so when children jumped to the internet cartoons suffered. Adult shows survived because adults have the benefit of refined taste and tv is where you will find large stars and budgets. Which is why MLP's niche as a big budget high quality show attracted adults rather than kids and beat everything out.

Of course I hesitate to say it's better than 80% as long as you count discontinued syndication as shows on tv.

I don't think they do have a big budget, actually. I seem to recall hearing that their resources are rather stretched, and the show's quality comes entirely from the team's skill and dedication.

Really? I've been misinformed then. I guess I sort of assumed because of the animation quality but looking back the character design is very template heavy which could explain how it is done so well. Which might also explain the popularity of the fandom ponies and personal custom characters. Something I feel it has in common with the sonic the hedgehog fandom, the characters are template heavy and very defined by their colours which makes customizing and creating fan characters easy.

You know, the finale was good but it didn't really blow my mind. The Queen of the Changelings was badass as were the changelings themselves, but they Changeling...race, I guess, was introduced and dismissed in the same episode with next to no explaination for where they come from or what they even are. I think the finale would have been a lot better if the big reveal came in the first part of the finale as opposed to the second. That would have given the show plenty of time to have the mane six go on an even more epic quest like the Discord episodes with more time to explore what the changelings are. I might be a bit critical but the whole thing seemed a bit rushed and underwhelming.

I hope the Changelings come back so they can get a good episode about what they are and where they come from and who the Queen is. We didn't get much of her character beyond "evil Queen must feed subjects with love". Discord got more, Nightmare Moon got more, she should get more.

Just my thoughts, however.

It was glorious. The fighting was awesome. And the Changelings were freaking sweet.

My favoriter episodes were Secret of my Excess, Dragon Quest, Hearth's Warming Eve, and the finale of course.

Least favorite episode was probably MMMmystery on the Friendship Express.

Season 2 was fantastic, especially the finale. So many brony points in there, and the return of the Party Cannon ^_^

But the best thing is, since Discord wasn't the bad guy in the finale, that means we get him back next season! Discoooooord!!!!

It really felt like it stagnated for me. I was real into Season 1, I really liked the first episodes of Season 2, but after the fifth or sixth episode, I just wasn't into it. I don't like the style of the villains usually being these mundane obstacles in the MLP universe, I really prefer having them fight this one character. Discord, Nightmare Moon, the dragons, the Diamond Dogs, yadda freakin' yadda.

Has Discord's return been confirmed, then? I know de Lancie did some more voice work, but that doesn't necessarily have to be for the same character.

Oh, new page! User group link time! I'm so glad to have another decent pony thread at last.

Daystar, it's MLP not the Smurfs.

You know I know you know I know you know I was thinking so because you know I know you know better. ;)

Remember Smurfs are all blue, and them ponies rock the whole light spectrum.
