All my childhood memories of Cap'n Crunch cutting te roof of my mouth gone.

I'm going to go eat some Cinnamon toast Crunch now.

I foresee an era of Speak-Easy's where cereal is served discreetly at inflated prices. Also, I'm not that worried about the Cap't. If he's anything like Kirk, he'll just go back in time, save a pair of whales, siphon nuclear energy from his ship's namesake, then go back to the future to prevent his parents from fading away.
It's not actually going away. [http://adage.com/article/news/cap-n-crunch-breathes-easier-talk-demise-untrue/149318/]

It looks like they're going to try and re-brand it so that they don't advertise it to children, but to potheads. Totally not a publicity stunt though.
well that makes that slightly less dramatic. XD Oh well, I'll edit my post to include your story, unless you want to make a thread yourself on it.

This just seems to be more proof that we are in an age where parents don't want to have to be responsible for raising their own children. While no business should go out of it's way to deceive children, in instances like this, the decision to buy either Cap'n Crunch or something else ultimately rests with the parent. And to be honest, if your kid manages to go down to the grocery or supermarket and buy some without you noticing, chances are the good Cap'n is the least of the problems that kid will have growing up. Sure, Cap'n Crunch may not be the best cereal for you, but strongarm tactics like this aren't the way to go. And the sooner parents realise they have an obligation to raise their child, the sooner silly things like this can stop happening.

I remember eating it as one of my "Choice Saturday Morning Cartoon" Cereals, so its sorta sad to see it go.
Me too, dawg, in a big salad bowl with so much milk it would spill over the sides. Ah, Saturdays as a kid.... life was good...

It also makes those "OMG FOOD NAZIS HAVE WON!" people look like complete assholes, which I love. Imo you shouldn't edit the OP, I want to see more ignorant indignation.

This is sad. My mom always gets my brother a box of the Christmas Crunch every year. Now what? Bastards! Lock and load!

Yeah. Though there's something to be said at this major push to eat healthy and NOT lay blame on the parents. You can definitely tell its the American way, where you as the adult and holder of power dont admit youre wrong, you just change it so you're right.

I'll edit it, but I still see it as it going away. I dont think they're going to keep the cereal around much once they remarket it, and especially not in its current form. It will probably go the way Frosted Flakes when where it started as just the Corn Flakes, then went to Frosted, then went back with a major push to the healthier Corn Flakes.

And you're still losing the mascot, who (sadly) was probably more of a parent to a good amount of kids then they're parents actually were.

Huh. Never had the cereal so I'm not terribly sad it is gone.

Oh wait, the character?

Whatever, still kind of apathetic.

It's not Captain Crunch then, is it? It's a completely different animal.
