I start at Cogswell College next week majoring in 3-D animation. Pretty excited for it, small school with small class sizes and I get to stay in California.

Start Computer Game Application Development at University of Abertay in about 3 weeks. Looking forward to getting back into education, too long working in a supermarket was starting to melt my brain with sheer boredom.

I'm done with school for now. I got my Bachelor's in Fine Arts from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania, and got a Master's of Interactive Technology from Southern Methodist University. I make art for video games now.

Beginning the new college semester, I was curious if the Escapist goes to college? where do you go? What do you study? what year are you? what do you do in your spare time?

I go to West Virginia University, i am studying Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering, i am a Junior. Last night me and my roomate went to a Hookah bar and blew smoke bubbles.
Last week was my first week of the new semester.

This is my university

It always does confuse me why the USA seems to have no distinction between colleges and universities. Ah well.

Personally I'll be starting my 4th and final year at the University of Abertay to get my Honours in Game Design and Production Management.

Just finished my first year studying Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics.

Next up, the big struggle to get a place at university - and with it, the nine grand per year fees. Joy.

Heading out to SUNY Potsdam this Friday as an incoming freshman. Majoring in archaeology. Right now, the financial aspect of it is a ***** considering how poor my family is, I had to say no to Ohio State University because they couldn't get me enough money - it sucks going to college when your parents can't afford to take out a loan.

I'm quite resistant to sleep, though, I generally average an all-nighter a week during school, and I see no reason why that'll change in college.

i'm currently in high school but once i finish high school college is definitely a possibility. i live in california so i'll probably be trying to get into a college somewhere in california or at least close. don't want to go to far away from home and family, i've heard that can suck pretty bad.

I just started my junior year at Troy University. Studying applied computer science. My spare time? Between a full-time job and full-time college there isn't much to go around, but what's there is used to stay up-to-date on gaming news and to, obviously, play games. :p
and...

Well I live in the UK where the education system is a little different but I gather that a "college" is the equivalent of a university in the UK. And yes, I do go to a university. More specifically, I study BSc Computer Science at Royal Holloway University of London and am starting my second of three years next month. I wonder if there are any other Escapists going there too.
Thoughts on your course? Would you recommend it? Oh and friends GF is going to Royal Holloway - you start in a couple of weeks, right?

I just found out that I will need to choose between a great course in an okay town and an okay course in a great town in seven days. Joy.

Anyway, want to study plants, in some form.

I'm from Winnipeg, Manitoba (Canada) and I am going into my first year at the University of Manitoba on September 8th! I'm so excited, I am going into the faculty of Computer Science Engineering, something I have had a passion for since highschool, since I took it all the way through!!

Little fun fact; I went to an orientation for the class, out of everyone there, (which was quite a bit of people) I was the only girl. Well, that's interesting..

There is a distinction. A college is an institution with a singular purpose. A university is a collection of colleges. They'll have their own colleges of education, liberal arts, engineering, business, medicine, etc. Each college will have their own dean and staff, but are all subordinate to an overall president of the university.
