I am currently waiting on my pre-order! I'm a huge fan of the character, and the game looks awesome.

Early reviews have also been generous in pointing out just how 'right' High Moon got Deadpool, so, even if I wasn't already, I'd be sold now.

Loved the trailer, but I think I will only get it during Steam summer sale, since 60 euro is way too high a cost in my opinion.

He was a Deathstroke ripoff.
That's it. Rob Liefeld admitted that he made him so he could draw Deathstroke. The only unique thing was that he had yellow speech boxes. Thats it.
And I suppose you missed the arc where we learn that Deadpool is a friendless loser who wants to kill himself.
Really.
Oh yes, i know very well of Deadpools origins, which makes it even more impressive seeing how Joe Kelly and Fabian Nicieza managed to turn a one note-parody into a characther in its own that i think imo has surpassed deathstroke.

This might be a bit long so ill just put a tag on it.

While the "deadpool wants to die" arc
was probably one of the more interesting stories during way's run
(besides secret invasion and when he loses his healing factor)
It ultimatly turns into nothing.

Suddenly he realizes that he dont want to die anymore because bob tells him its stupid,
and he has learned nothing from it.
He also has somekind of weird revelation with hit-monkey (ugh) that hinted that the "lady death" he loved never were real. But it never goes deeper into that either.

The whole situation was created by how poorly he had treated the characther before.

Suddenly he is a jerk to everyone and everything? (when "cable & deadpool" ended on probably the most sugary sweet note it possably could)

And thus he shuns most of his friends (except bob who he abuses for gags)
which leads to all the other plot points.

There were ALOT of interesting ideas during way's run, but the were all treated poorly because he initiated them with no foreshadowing and ended them with no resolution. Nothing learned, nothing's changed. Status quo is god.

I got it and sunk in two hours, I'm honestly happy with it...trust me when I say I was pretty worried, this is a game I've been waiting to see made since I was 13 and Deadpool was still one of the most obscure comic book characters out there. I can remember a time where friends that were non comic readers called him "Spider Man with guns" and my friends who were also into comics called him "Dime store Deathstroke" and the issues were damn near impossible to find after issue #17.

The gameplay is nothing special, but even HMS said they weren't looking to reinvent the wheel on several different occasions. Rather they were just aiming to crank out a game about being Deadpool. And that's worked in the past for Marvel, I mean Spider Man 2 was about the Spider Man experience and the Punisher was about being the Punisher. Neither were mind-blowing, but they really put you in the character's shoes. So for that, HMS did great. The story works for a stand alone DP game and it seems like everyone involved was a fan of the character.

If anything, the entire thing reminds me of a Suda 51 game. A game that's highly batshit, stylish, self aware and bare bones when it comes to gameplay. And I love Suda's stuff, so I you'll hear no harsh remarks from my end.

Joe Kelly had a good run, but there was only so long that you could drag out the whole thing with Deadpool going from being a walking South Park episode one second to being The Phantom of the Opera the next. It was something you could only drag out for so long, especially when it came to later issues where he would get some form of closure and have to move on. But to hold Joe Kelly on a pedestal? Sorry, not after T-Ray. I hated T-Ray as an arch nemesis and that convoluted mess that Kelly tried to work into Wade's backstory. The thing that I like about Way's take on the character that started back in Secret Invasion was 1) He gave us the gimmick with Deadpool talking to his narration boxes. 2) The fact that he's pretty much given up on giving a damn about his past. The beauty of Deadpool is for all of his tragedy and skills, he's the comic relief of the Marvel universe. A serious Deadpool is not a good one, I've seen it done more than once. Look at the new Thunderbolts run, that writer sucks at writing Deadpool with sad attempts to create a love triangle with him and Elektra and a seemingly out of place lack of jokes from the Wade Side of the briefing room.

Bottom Line:
If you liked No More Heroes, Mad World or are a fan of (Daniel Way's) Deadpool, give it a whirl.

If you're the type of person that was rolling your eyes at the corny jokes throughout Boarderlands, didn't like DMCs' gameplay mechanics or have a tendency to nitpick, don't waste the money.

I am in no hurry to get this game to be honest the only reason I am looking at it is because I heard Psylocke was in it and shes my favourite comic book character of all time.

So if Psylocke is in it a fair bit and the games ok I will probably pick it up at some point, well at least when its cheaper.

I'm a "clishee" kind of guy so my favorite Marvel heroes are Deadpool and Wolverine. I haven't read the comics, but anything else regarding comic book characters (movies, animation, cartoons) I have watched.

With that said, I bought and finished the game in around 7-8 hours.

I am not very critical of the character so I can't tell if they have ruined it or not, with my average knowledge of him, it was by far the most funniest game I have ever played. The repetitive combat didn't bother me at all.

Deadpool is an badass in my book, regardless what others think.

Gotta love the way they handled the game's description in the Steam Store page.

I think I might get this, I'm usually a sucker for these kinds of games and love Deadpool so I guess I can't go wrong with this.

Deadpool is good in small doses, say a comic for example. An eight hour game, using the universal average of games I know, though? It sounds like it would get old very, very fast. To be honest, Deadpool is kind of a one trick pony. He makes jokes that break the fourth wall. He shoots guns and regenerates health, meaning it will play similar to a lot of other games. Maybe there will be one or two sections that are different, like the platforming bit in the trailer, but how much of the game will that actually make up?

There are times where I cringe at Deadpool, not necessarily because he's corny as hell (which he is...) but because he seems to think slightly parallel to myself. Which means I'm somewhere on the road to being a psychopath. Thankfully I don't have super-powers or a healing factor so I just vent my psychopathy (lovely word, rolls right off the tongue... fingers... whatever) digitally.
In short, I love Deadpool's batshit insanity for what it is, and I like how he's evolved from a Deathstroke clone to his absolute wackiness. In fact he was my favorite part of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2.

Looks like it's trying too hard, really. Leaning too hard on the whole wacky and random angle, but that could just be the trailer. Anyway, I really don't feel like Deadpool works without a decent number of straight-men for him to play off of, if not a complete straight-world. Putting him in a setting that seems to be purely wacky madness apart from Wolverine looks like it's overdoing it.

Agreed that T-ray is obviously the weakest part of the jk-run, He is not enough to sink it for me though.
And the new thunderbolts is also written by Danny Way so there´s that.

Nevertheless it is obvious that most deadpool fans nowadays enjoy the characther for different
reasons than i do, and i cant really argue with that now can i?

Anyway, i found that Remender wrote a great wellrounded deadpool in his recent uncanny x-force run (if a bit downplayed).
And the current Posehn/Duggan run is shaping up so im not gonna complain.

OT:Watched a bit of the walkthrough on YT. I have to say a was amused, sure the gameplay looks pretty generic (but i did enjoy lollipop chainsaw so...). Sure the humour was stupid, but it was the "self-aware kind of stupid" which for me makes it much more tolerable.

But i just wonder why in the world does Nolan North do one of his head-voices? Seriously!
Could't they have Kassir do it or something? Maybe throw in a joke about it?
So now we have Nolan North cracking wise with Nolan North. Wonderful...

Definitly gonna pick it up once its abit cheaper, mostly just because to support deadpool in other media than comics and
maybe then we finally can get that damn movie made.

Watching a playthrough from it. Well yes it is a bit generic on the slasher game type side. Eh

Still deadpool it is pretty fun to watch. So if you end up playing a generic slasher game why not play the one with the bouncy castle. Yes it has a bouncy castle..

Now would I suggest buying it full price.. probably not. This game might be worth $30 or well if you stretch it $40. Thats it. Its not $60! That is its biggest sin I guess its full price for a game that just isn't worth it. But at half price it gets much closer to a good deal.

It will do great in Steam Sales that is obvious. And when within 2 months the price is kicked down a few notches at the online shops.

While these guys aren't the best at showing off a game I'm fairly confident in saying the game is throwaway trash.
Might check it out during a steam sale if I get really bored or something.

Again, this game is releasing tomorrow. I have no clue why they withheld so much information until now.
Usually because the game sucks. Though I persistently hear good things about this one. Not great, but the information that's been trickling out is coming out positive.

Is that second rate Spiderman guy supposed to be irritating as fuck?

'Cause he really, really is. I really don't think I could stomach a whole game of that crap.
He's supposed to be entertaining. That video comes off more as awkward and annoying, though.

It's probably more to do with the change of medium.
When I rented one of the Buffy games, I complained to a friend about the writing. She was surprised because Joss Wheedon was apparently a/the writer, and I was surprised, because it was REALLY bad. I'm of the firm belief that not everthing W does is good, but I'm a fan of Buffy and expected more.

Video games seem to have a transformative effect on writers. God knows why.

Ormaybe the guy sucks, I don't know. I haven't read much Deadpool in the last decade. Any Deadpool, actually.

Actually, he has very little in common with Spider-Man besides the eye bit of the costume. And the red.
and the attitude. And the narration style. Though apparently that's gotten more batshit crazy.

The bigger point is, even the writers routinely lampshaded the similarities.

I love everything about what I've seen, but I'm waiting on reviews. High Moon know what they're doing but length isn't their strong point. I hope it's longer than 5 hours this time.
NOPE!

I'm in AUS so I got it yesterday. 5 hours. 5 quite memorable hours though.

Eh, I paid full price for Lollipop Chainsaw and don't really regret it, so this game may be right up my alley.

Deadpool isn't my "favorite" Marvel hero per-say, but I'm warming up to him with games like Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 or Marvel Ultimate Alliance/2.

Thanks for the opinion! :D

Looks average. What's up with Nolan North's voice? I recall him voicing Deadpool before, but not as goofy. Also the writing seems a bit off. Maybe they should have got Chris Hastings to do it.

Played it. Didn't like it. I think it's garbage.

Gameplay would've been ok, if there weren't so many things about it that bother me.

- Why are the guns so weak? Near what I'm assuming is the end of the game, using the pistols and smgs takes several clips to take down many of the regular enemies. Only the dual shotgun and laser guns feel like they're worth using and they run out of ammo quickly. Headshots work a little better, but those are hard to line up when a bunch of melee enemies are swarming around you.

- In fact, why do the melee weapons mostly feel weak as well? Even with fully upgraded swords, many of the grunts take way too many hits. If eventually found a combo that shaves their health pretty quickly, but still. The hammers do a little more damage, but are also a lot slower, so it evens out. Maybe they need more upgrades? Sure, as soon as I figure out how to unlock them. Haven't tried the sai. A lot of the 'Momentum' special feel useless and underpowered too.

- Can I manually reload my guns? Tried pretty much every button and combination, but no cigar. Seriously, having to wait around several seconds before Deadpool does it automatically gets old really fast.

- You can dodge by teleporting, negating pretty much any damage. You can do this 4-5 times in row before it needs to recharge for a bit, depending on upgrades. As far as I know there is no on-screen indicator of this, nor for the amount you can dodge, nor for the cooldown. Just Deadpool blabbing when you run out. I've looked, but haven't found it.

- You can lock onto enemies. Except you lose your lock when you touch the right stick. Or when you use your teleport to dodge. And it's only good for the guns really. And only if there are only a few enemies around. You also can't switch easily between targets. If you can, I don't know how.

- You get on-screen indicators warning you when there's a melee attack incoming, a la the Batman Arkham games. No such thing for ranged attacks. Sure, you can see them charging their shots, but oftentimes the camera hides them from view so I constantly get hit by high damage shots coming out of nowhere.

- Seriously, am I missing something? Am I playing this game wrong? It's only normal difficulty and in the late game I'm getting my ass kicked left and right by enemies that take tons of punishment and can shoot the crap out of me in seconds. I can handle Devil May Cry and Bayonetta at some of the higher difficulties with little problems. Why am I failing so badly at this game?

- Why does it take so long to start regenerating health? Isn't Deadpool's healing supposed to be better than Wolverine's? If any game has an excuse for fast regenerating health, it's this one.

- I've bought so many upgrades by now. Why am I not an unstoppable, regenerating badass death-machine? I don't feel powerful.

- On the other hand, the bosses I've fought so far, were easy. That chick with the energy attacks and that big strong guy? Didn't even hit me.

- Forced stealth section where getting discovered means an instant fail. Turret sections. Lovely, lovely turret sections. All games need both. There might be a driving section too, but I stopped playing out of frustration.

- My game often bugged out during cutscenes, requiring me to restart from my last checkpoint. Assuming doing that didn't kick me back to desktop. It's annoying.
Visually, it's nothing special, with most of the locations being really boring. Sewers, underground ruins, ruined city, underground lab, that sorts of stuff. Can't say much about the music and sound effects because I don't remember any of it. It hasn't been 24 hours since I've stopped playing.

And it's not funny, even though it tries really hard. Way too much badly timed "Look how wacky and random we're being! Laugh, you peon! Laugh!" and way too little effective, well-written jokes. Deadpool has always been pretty low-brow, but that doesn't mean the same as bad humor.

Also, what's with his voice? In the comics it's often described as sounding like 'gravel and gasoline', so I'm guessing it's like an even grittier version of Wolverine's. Nolan North? Sounds nothing like that.
