So, did anyone buy Kinect?

December was a great month for me. My 2nd 360 spilled it's red-ring guts up all over my desk and this was great for 2 reasons:

1. It prompted me to buy a PS3 (guess which one I prefer).
2. It meant that I didn't have to be hassled anymore by sales staff asking me if I wanted to buy Kinect (exercise and games are antithetical).

So, it got me wondering....

Did anyone actually buy (or is willing to admit buying) Kinect? How was it? (I'm assuming the novely has worn off by now).

When I first heard about it I thought it would be neat to have but then after finding out that you needed so much space for it to function and considering I do not live in a mansion, I said hell no!.
I also do not know anyone else who owns it because they are more in love with the older gen consoles.

No. I don't like the idea of having a camera pointed into my living room that Microsoft can turn on at any time - it's in the contract.

Also, I played one at Christmas, and wasn't impressed.

I still stay it's the most awesome DDR accessory ever. And not much more.

Bill Gates is watching you eat Cheetos in the living room!

Same, My brother had gotten one and he brought it over to let the family have a try, mainly mingames and dancing games. Meh overall.

I didn't buy one, but received one as a gift. If I had the space, I would use it a lot more than I do. Also if I had more than just Kinect Adventures at the moment. It is fun, but space is an issue. After about 30 minutes of room rearranging once I got it I just barely had enough space to play. Lately it's dawned on me that I could play in one of my more spacious rooms, but haven't tried it yet. Rambling aside, it's quite fun to play, but the space requirement is a bit annoying.

Nope. Saw what the Kinect was and thought 'hey, that might be cool!" Then I saw the price tag and thought "Hey, they need to put down the crack pipe."

Seriously, I'm not shelling out that kind of dough for a trumped-up webcam.

It was a Christmas present from my parents... after I repeatedly TOLD them I didn't want a bloody Kinect. Ugh.

Well, at least it was better than more shirts.

I'm still sore from all the jumping and running on the spot I had to do to convince my parents that yes, they didn't just waste their money.

Given the current tech + games, no, I have no intention of buying kinect.
From what I've played of it at a younger relatives' house, the games seem worse(!) than the Wii minigames; lacking any invention or engaging content.

The only pleasure they provide is in the novelty not the actual quality.

...like 3D films....

But how else would they learn their money?

Anyway, when I first really heard and read about it it made me think of repairing my old, dead 360. Fast-forward to the release date and there still isn't a 360 hooked up on my TV. Give me some damn good games for it and I might reconsider, though they better have to be really good games for me to want a camera in my room that Microsoft can control whenever they wish.

Actually, he's watching me use my great wealth to take over the world, and stealing my ideas.

Seriously though, I'm more concerned he'll one day allow the FBI to watch me eat Cheetos, without a warrant. You may say I'm paranoid, but it seems too convenient a thing for the government not to exploit it. They already exploit GPS systems in phones to track people they want to watch. And the government didn't even have to ask the people of the United States to put a camera in their houses. We paid Microsoft for the privilege.

Good luck with that. There won't be any good games for it for a year, maybe six months if we're really lucky.

I don't personally own one and I have no real interest in purchasing one, but I did take the opportunity to play it round a friends at christmas time. They lived in a normal one bedroom apartment and they had to build a seperate little shelf at the furthest away point in their living room and even then it sometimes complains on the screen that they are too close, so space is a massive factor. I mean even the TV adverts show them with loads of space.

It was quite fun nevertheless, we played a few fighting games and sports games, and it was just kinda like - well - maybe I'm cynical - but the Wii. When the wii first came out it was exciting and new, and this has the same effect except, I know for sure that I will probably get bored with it after a while, just like the Wii.

I guess if they released something I would be interested in playing on it then I may consider it, but it would have to be something incredibly awesome.

I tried it in a shop and it is pretty good. The motion control works well and with some hardcore games coming out for it, I was very tempted

However

£150 and the space required for it is ridiculous, sorry Microsoft you won't be getting any more of my hard earned money

I really wish i had the space for it. I really would love to play dance central (and yes also kinectamels).

But without the space and a tad high pricing on it I will have to wait.

I won't be missing out then. Hell I might get Move sooner, The Fight looks pretty entertaining to play after a particulary stressfull day at work. Plus it's a lot less expensive.
