Man, I was awesome as Olimar! I could beat your Meta Knight any day! :p

Anyway, I have the first game, but haven't played it yet - I really need to...
that sounds like a challenge!

I recall the name. though I don't think I ever played it. The name is incredibly familiar though.
I'm pretty sure Olimar from Super Smash Brothers Brawl is from Pikmin. I never played the games, as I didn't own a Gamecube. I guess I could get them and play them on the Wii. I need to get a Gamecube controller anyway because I just got Rogue Squadron 2 for it.

Ah, yes. Pikmin. One of my all-time favorite games of my childhood.

I've owned and beaten both games to 100%. So fun. Of course, Emperor Bulblax in the first one can right fuck off.
And Waterwraiths are the stuffs of nightmares.
And the exercise thing in the second one takes a hilarious amount of time to move it from its location to the ship. Hur hur durp.

But really, the only way a Pikmin 3 will sell well is if it does not use the motion controls. Do you really want to flick your wrist a thousand times a day just to get through a boss area?

Honestly, I think it may be the best thing that Japan has pumped out video game-wise this decade.

Pikmin and the sequel that followed it are two of my favorite games ever made. I will say that when it comes to these games I am a fanboy, plain and simple. I know these games are flawed in some ways, but every time I play them they just bring a smile to my face and a feeling of pure joy.

The first time I played Pikmin was when I rented it from blockbuster as a child. I absolutely loved it, even though I was terrible at it. I loved exploring the world that was both strange and familiar at the same time, discovering exciting new things and thinking up ways to solve the puzzles without getting the cute little pikmin killed. I failed at this most of the time. But I adored the game so much that I bought it from another store before I even had to return the rental copy.

The second game was even better. Before it came out I had pretty much exhausted the first game, so I was overjoyed when I found that a sequel was being produced. Bought it as soon as possible, and put a ridiculous amount of time into it. It was everything I loved about the first game magnified. I played it so much as a kid that I have memorized pretty much everything about it. One of my favorite things were all the description and information given for each creature. I found it so interesting to read all of this, and to be honest it's probably because of this game that I became interested in studying the environment. I was already interested in nature and animals in general, but this was the first time I saw any glimpse of the science behind it. So it's because of a child's game that I'm studying to become a biologist.

Yeah I love these games to bits. Which is why it bothers me that there isn't a Pikmin 3. Come on Nintendo, you milk all your other franchises. Give Pikmin another shot, I miss those little guys.

That's a great story.

Pikmin 3 would be awesome. What about motion controls, though? I think they could use the features from the wiimake of the original, like only using the wiimote to aim, and make something truly great.

Wiat a second.. do you have something against Meta Knight, he's my favorite character. I despise Pit though... "The Fight is On" SHUT UP, NOBODY LOVES YOU PIT.

Well anyway Pikmin is one of my favorite gamecube games, sadly i rented the first one and god was i pissed when the spaceship exploded...

I spent hours breeding, cajoling, and cursing the little colored carrot-things.

Original was too hard, you say? I beat it with days to spare. I found the underground sequences in the second one particularly painful. I'd take my yellows against lightning bugs -- and win -- only to have all my other Pikmin eaten by some patrolling monster I was apparently supposed to know about while my back was turned. And the save system was awful.

Yeah, he can, but there's actually an insanely easy way to beat him. If you gather every bomb rock on the map (there's about 54) and fill the rest of your party with red Pikmin, then you're close to practically one-shotting him. Leave the red Pikmin at the gate to his arena, and throw all of the yellows in an area right in front of him. Awaken him, and he should knock you out of the arena, or at least close to the entrance. Call your reds, and when he goes for your yellows, call them to make them drop the bombs.

The blast should knock him down to a little less than half health, and if you throw all of your Pikmin on fast enough (reds first), he dies before he has a chance to recover. I actually got lucky and pulled this strategy off on the first try, and all without losing a single Pikmin.

Bomb rocks? Overpowered? Naaaahhhhh.

And Waterwraiths are the stuffs of nightmares.
Very true. The Submerged Castle has got to be, by far, one of the creepiest levels in that game. Even knowing how to fool the damn Waterwraith does not make the first four sublevels any less tense. D=

I loved my Pikmin games, still do in fact. It was my first Gamecube game and it carries alot of fond memories. As does the 2nd, it helped make Middle school a bit more bearable.

I got the Wii port as well and am hoping for the 2nd one to find it's way to the US. Damn Nintendo :\

As for another Pikmin game, they are making a 3rd on the Wii, something I'm very happy about.
Hopefully it will come out next year. I don't think I can go another year w/out a Pikmin game.
