So, Escapist, do you ever go to nightclubs?

Not really any more, usually play shit music, sell overpriced drinks, and full of slags, both male and female. I prefer gigs, or just staying in generally. Not sure about the best, probably getting smashed near Christmas time with my friend, seeing the taxi bill at £60, asking the driver to pull over and running home instead because fuck paying that, it was snowing too, and around 5am, t'was beautiful. The worst was last New Years, my mate gave me a free ticket to the club because his girlfriend was sick. I was disgusted to see inside that it cost £8 for redbull and vodka, £2 for a tiny bottle of water, and £4.50 for anything else. No wonder people were doing drugs all over the place, it's cheaper. You'd have to be rich to get drunk in that club. Oh, and the taxis were double.
Damn mate(btw I'm assuming thats like the english version of dude) sounds like English clubs are waaaay different, what kind of music do they play and what kind of music do you like?

Also, for everyone that doesn't go anymore or only went once, are you sure it wasnt just a bad club and what was the deciding factor for you? And when you say music was shit what kind did they play/what do you prefer?

The music almost always sucks, I go to them because they're open really late and I like getting drunk.

Going off them as I get older though, prefer pubs and bars.

I used to be really big in the club scene. I am not as much now. I would normally go to Electronica and Goth clubs.

Why don't I go as much now? Well I am engaged, so I don't need to hook up with someone. I got smarted with my money and discovered it is WAY cheaper to drink at home, and no fussy DUI's to deal with.

I've never been to one. Not yet.

To be honest, I'd go if invited, but I don't really have any want to. At all. The more people that are around, the quieter and less entertaining I get. I can't help it. In big crowds, I just don't want to say anything. It isn't shyness, it's just I don't like big crowds.

Nor do I like alcohol or extremely loud annoying music. So the only thing left is the girls and whatever friends I'd go with. And the girls would be talking to someone more talkative. And my friends would be talking to the girls.

Yeah, being the quiet guy doesn't sound fun until people realize that I (OMG!) enjoy doing some things by myself, with absolutely no other noise around me.
Nah man don't fret about it, that used to be me, believe me when you have friends that are good wingmen you don't even need to talk much and after a while (idk if its a confidence issue for you but it was for me) you just get so confident that you and your buds can just walk into a club and the confidence just exudes from you and thats how you run shit, also friends who can dance help a shit ton, lol my friends literally start a dance battle as soo as we get to a club and that draws immediate attention from EVERYONE, thats how we run it,

Of course now its gotten to the point where they do the attention getting and I walk around talk to the girls and tell them they should chill with us and since im the smartest one of my friends and I have the best vocabulary I do most of the romancing, not to take anything away from them but they know i just have a way with words, its just how gemini are haha don't know if you follow or believe in astrology but if you want to know my personality just look up a gemini haha I was floored when i saw it because I really am a Gemini and it was DEAD ON.

Been to enough to know that I'd happily never go again.

I'm not indignant about it, I just don't have fun, and would rather save my money for something that does work for me. My friends could never quite grasp that, they took it as a rejection of their friendship...which it wasn't.
I feel ya man, its not for everybody, but was there a specific reason you didn't have fun?
Pretty much every aspect of the experience. I don't care for dancing, price gouging on drinks(£5 for bottle of bud, after £5 door charge...get stuffed), being expected to get stone-drunk everytime, and I really value my personal space...crowds are best avoided for me. End up spending too much on a taxi home too(£10-20 share), because the buses stop at about 11. I'd be happier burning the money than going through(what I consider to be)a gruelling experience and paying through the nose to have it.

Again, I don't begrudge anyone else having fun with it. I would just be happier buying myself a big TV, spending some money on football and badminton clubs/tournaments, and having some left over for a few whisky's at a more moderately priced and sparsely populated pub/bar.

Well besides working in kind of a club, i go out often.
Thursdays to my favourite club, music is Postpunk, Darkwave vs Industrial/ EBM in the second floor.
Fridays there is a club called Matrix in the city i study in, they got a bit of everything, Metal,Oldschoolgoth, Hardcore, EBM , Punk, a huge place with a lot of seperate floors on 3 storeys.
Saturday or Sunday we go to a little cellarclub ,actually the first club i went to long ago with my brothers, it was a rock/punk/billy place back then, now its more batcavaesk with some electronic parts sometimes.

Greatest Clubnights? damn i had a few, cant single out one special day. Duty calls to say the night i met my girlfriend, yeah that was a good one, but not in the classical sense of a great night at the club.
There were the 2 nights were we found prepaid cards that are used to buy drinks there, they werent from the same night (they change colours every day) but luckily it was dark enough that the barkeep couldnt notice.
Then there was the day one of the bargirls had birthday and i just mixed between her friends, hugged her and congratulated her, she liked that and hadnt charged me for anything that night.
Then there are the nights were you just meet great fun new folks, or people you havent seen in ages and rock it like the old times.
Or the day i lost my wallet somewhere in the club and went to the cashier to inform him that i lost something, turned out someone already found it and i got it back only minutes after losing it. Gotta love the true spirit of a subcultural scene.

The worst that happened? mh i got 2 frontteeth knocked out while dancing, no fighting going on , just rockin and rollin really hard ^^ i had to wear a metal thingy in my mouth for 4 weeks, but the teeth grow on again. Unlucky basterd whose elbow knocked me over still got a lil scar on his tattoo where my teeth cut in. So actually he had the bigger loss. My teeth look better than before, thanks to the combined power of our ensurences and he got a destroyed tat on the arm.

There's a pretty cool goth/fetish dance that happens every month in my town. It's a lot of fun, plus there's live bondage shows...

Well, no I don't really believe in astrology but OK, whatever floats your boat.

I don't really think it's a confidence issue. It's just an I-don't-like-big-crowds issue. I'd go, if invited, because I've never been to one before. I don't want to be seen as an asshole, and I don't want to say I've never been to one either. But I'm not the kind of person that would jump for joy at the chance to go to a nightclub. I prefer my Friday evenings quiet, or with a few friends. I can't help it, I've been out to different places before (not nightclubs, but just as loud), but I always found myself pining for home. And either my own music or silence.
Haha don't get it twisted, I dont BELIEVE in astrology either its just strange how im a gemini and it fits my personality like a glove, no one else i know matches tho so i don't thoroughly believe in it i just find it interesting.

And i guess i can see where you're comin from on not bein a fan of crowds, I have a couple buds like that and we always invite them to come out with us no matter where we go, we don't want them to feel left out but I sometimes wonder if they get annoyed that we ask and i wonder if they think "dude i NEVER go and I told you I never want to stop f****** asking me" like we wonder if they think were trying to pressure them.

Yeah, I go to nightclubs regularily, probably once or twice every month. I'm still only 18, so the whole nightclub thing is still fun to me (there's no drinking age in Denmark, you have to be 15 to buy alchohol, and 18 to get into clubs)

Only been to one nightclub, can't say I'd go back. Not my kind of music, drinks are too expensive, and I'd rather just go to a bar.

best night club experience was when me and some friends went to a goth club. one of my mates dressed in a button up hawaiian shirt and we danced like drunkard retards. then a goth started on us, was hilarious.

worst would be almost every other time ive been to a club. not that they were particularly bad experiences, but they just werent very fulfilling and a bit mundane.

Fuck no. I hate crowds, and I hate loud music, there is no part of the club experience that could ever be enjoyable for me.
