For me it was the Malcolm in the Middle theme song and made me curious as to what else they had done.

Well, I have a lot of favorite bands, but I get the feeling I can only choose one, so here goes:

I discovered Weezer through Guitar Hero 3. As much as I didn't like the game, it did show me some really cool music, and the song My Name is Jonas was one of them. So thanks Guitar Hero. You and I may not have gotten along, but at least you showed me Weezer... before they went Raditude. :p

That's actually an interesting story. There was this new story [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/103923-8-Bit-Parody-of-Cee-Los-F-k-You-Has-Got-Soul] that I ignored at first (I thought the actual song was terrible rap), then I actually heard the real song and liked it, so I came back and found this. I saw the remix was by someone named Inverse Phase, so I found his Bandcamp page and listened to some of his other music. Then I saw the pages he linked to. I checked them all out, then came to this one. [http://brentalfloss.bandcamp.com/] To make it short, brentalfloss' page has been in my bookmarks bar for months. In fact, I'm listening to it right now.

And on a less related note, he's coming here to Austin on the 29th.

Tony Hawk's Underground. Heard 'Like The Angel' by Rise Against, loved it, looked into some more of their stuff and found that I loved it too.

Six albums later, and I'm still loving their music

I have no idea. Some party probably or maybe TV. I discovered a few of my favourites through a great show that was aired between 2 and 4 a.m. The Dresden Dolls for example

I don't really have a single favorite band but I remember first hearing Steve Vai (one of my favorite musicians) because my brother showed me this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0QKbnCDW94] video.

The original's not a rap song...

Anyway, mine was through the power of radio. Boring answer, but the truth.

Devo.

I discovered them from the Heavy Metal film when I was about 14 I think. Wanted to know what some of the cool music I heard in one scene was and it went from there to the rest of their work.

That's what I'm saying. Before I heard it, I thought it was a rap song. Then I heard it and found out it wasn't.

About 10 years ago Dragonball Z was really hot here. So, obviously not having things like youtube, I searched KAZAA for music videos of my favorite super alians, and I ran across this beauty.

Enter my love for metallica, and metal in general.

I discover Daft Punk from their song "One More Time". I was channel surfing in the music area and then I stop to listen to this catchy beat (the beginning bit to the song). As the song played I was simply stun just by how awesome it was. After the video was finish, I spend the rest of the channels surfing to find that song again!
