I heard MUSE on the radio about 5 years ago, when I was 11. Starlight, specifically, as it was just after Black Holes & Revelations was released. I thought the song was really good, but lacked the knowledge of how to find more. Anyway, I heard the song again at my childminder's house - her eldest daughter was listening to them. I asked if I could listen with her, and she said I could. I thought they were really good, but kind of on and off about it.
At some point later I discovered Youtube, and then linked the two things in my head. I spent weeks upon weeks working my way through their songs, discovering just how much they'd done, how varied their style was and - most importantly - how mind-blowingly amazing they are. Then it sort of grew over time, and now my room is plastered with their image, my iPod dominated with their sound and my body clad in a hoody with their name on it. One day, I'll work up enough money and be fortunate enough to secure myself a ticket (those bastards sell
fast). And it will be the best thing ever, as they're generally agreed to be the best live act in the world.
What a nice story
EDIT: It just occurred to me that this is actually a really good opportunity to potentially introduce new people to MUSE, because they might follow the same sort of process described above, and that would be amazing, so here's the song I mentioned.
Hope you enjoy it!
