I'm just about to go into 2nd year of Computer Games Application Development at Abertay. Term starts in a week or so. I never thought I'd think a summer could be too long, but here we are, 4 months later.

Currently studying a Bachelor of Arts, History major at the University of Queensland, Australia. We have a pretty damn gorgeous campus, but no awesome mascots like Michigan or Missouri
Hey what's up fellow student, I also go to the University of Queensland. I however am studying a Bachelor of Journalism, and doing free work otherwise my degree will be about as useful as a machine that turns oxygen into CO2.

Summer seems AGES away at the moment :p

I'm living in Wills Hall, what is your view on that? I heard it has a reputation for being upper class, is that true?

What was the jump from A-level (assuming you took them) to university like?

I've also heard that there are loads of lectures compared to other subjects, is that true?

Sorry for the questions, I just want to be as prepared as possible :p Thanks for the advice as well!
Trust me, Summer creeps up on you. Blink and it will suddenly be January and you will have far too much coursework to do.

I have never been to Wills Hall, but people I know who have gone there say it's pretty nice. And yeah, it's regarded as the posh hall - the one thing everyone knows Wills for is the weekly formal meal [www.bristol.ac.uk/wills-hall/about/formals/]. Oh, and you're meant to keep off the grass.

I don't think the jump was too bad myself, but I did five A Levels and moderated The Escapist for most of A2 year so that was a hectic time for me. Exam period I found harder than I did in A Levels but most of the year is fairly fine. Just be careful near the end of term. Lecturers like to put one or two big coursework pieces round those times, especially the Easter one as it's the latest point they can set a big piece of coursework without fear of running into exam season.

We do have more lectures than other subjects, but that's true for the Engineering Faculty in general (and CS is typically regarded as being farely light when compared to stuff like Mechanical Engineering). Chances are you will have at least one day in the week that doesn't have a 9am lecture, so make the most of that late start.

Also, since you will be living in Stoke Bishop you will inevitably hear this anyway, but be careful walking across the Downs at night. That place has a bit of a, um... reputation [http://www.epigram.org.uk/2012/05/15-bags-of-sex-litter-cleared-from-downs/].

See, this is the kind of VITAL information you don't get in your welcome pack xD

Do you advise getting the sports pass or whatever that £200 thing is? And what are the sports teams like?

University of Missouri St. Louis: there may be better Universities in the midwest, but they don't have [a href="http://s7.postimage.org/9ombg9w2x/UMSLchessboard.jpg"]this[/a] giant chess board.

I'm going to College for Creative studies! It's pretty much in the middle of Detroit. I'm super happy I got accepted because it's one of those prestigious art schools

Just started my second year of studies at the University of Victoria (UVic) this very week (mind you it's my first year at UVic).

Taking history and medieval studies predominantly. Because I can, that's why.

Oh, and Latin.

Do you mean the gym pass? I never bothered with one, but the gym isn't high on my list of priorities. From what little I remember of what people who used it said, getting one is an incentive to go more but that's all I can really remember on the subject.

Also note that if you're interested in joing any sporting societies then it probably isn't worth it. The gym pass doesn't cover sports clubs and you need to take out some £20 insurance thing instead for those. Plus, sports clubs will probably give you enough exercise that you don't need the gym.

I'm currently being bugged about my application essays to the University of Michigan Ann Arbor. I should probably get to work on those at one point or another. That being said, I would like to go there.

I am currently attending my first year at Eastern Michigan University. It's a pretty nice university. The rooms are decent, and the wireless and wired internet kind of suck. Not horrible, but not good either. MMOs play alright I guess, but it is most noticeable with the download speeds. They are despicable.
Edit: Oh, and my major is Simulation, Animation and Gaming. (Yes, that's an actual major)

Northumbria Uni! I looked at other places much higher in the rankings, and could probably have got into them, but I preferred this one for some odd reason, so here I go. :p

University of London in a couple of weeks. (No, I'm not gonna be more specific. Perverts.) Studying English and American Literature; even just reading the reading list has put me into Procrastination Mode Code Red. I like reading a lot, but as soon as you tell me to do it for school... ha.

Kind of nervous about having to basically start over. I know one person going to another Uni in London, and she's on the other side of the city. At the same time, I have the forward thinking ability of a complete and utter moron, meaning I don't really feel as if I'm going anywhere.

Out of curiosity - and on the off chance that someone knows both systems well enough - is it true that the first year (at least) in an American uni is basically sixth form for us Brits?

I live in Nottingham :D

I studied Law & Criminology at the University of Lincoln, really nice city too.

I always pictured you living in Nottingham...Just seems so fitting..

OT: I dunno man..I'm only 15, once I start Collage I'll have more of an idea of what I want to do
Wut?

How?

How do I fit Nottingham exactly? :D
You seem like someone who likes to liven up their evening by getting shot at. ;)

I kid. It was just the first joke I thought of about Nottingham. The city with the most exaggerated gun crime in the country. To hear some people talk, you'd think it was being run by the Chicago Mafia.

OT: I studied Electronic Engineering (followed by Software Engineering) at Southampton.
I don't know where the myth came from :D

I mean, I've only been shot 3 times since living here, that's not even a lot.

No, it would be the equivalent of 12th grade. The final year of highschool.

As of the 15th of September I'll be doing my final year at Coventry Uni and finishing my Degree in Ethical Hacking and Network Security.
