So, Fable 3's economy is slightly less broken than the last game's economy...

You no longer earn money when not playing, though. Which is nice in theory, but only makes me a millionaire, instead of a billionaire.

Work at a job (I prefer "Lute Hero") for 20 minutes to make a bit of cash, buy a decent place...Be rich in a few hours as you buy more and more property. Hell, now you don't even need to visit the places you buy, since you can buy them through the town map. Sure, now you don't collect rent on a house when it slowly falls to 0% and a state of disrepair. But you can repair it from the map for a varying fee. Shops don't fall into disrepair, though.

Oh, and the 50k gold I got from a 10 silver key requiring chest in Brightwall didn't hurt to jumpstart my road to riches either. And another 50k chest in Bowerstone, just after I spent 100k on a bunch of shops and houses.

Thankfully, you can avoid this affluence if you so desire, and "role play" as a worker.

Now, I'm thinking of selling most of my property (so that I won't make rent anymore), and spending all my money from the sales of the property on pointless shit, because I don't actually like this broken system. This topic is just to notify everyone that it is still hilariously broken.

So, how do you feel about the economy system in Fable 2/3? Or just anything about the Fable games in general?

A few other comments on the game.

I am ABSOLUTE ADORING THIS GAME. Mixing magic is fun, and keeps things fresh, even non-mages get fun out of it. And charging up AoE spells no longer insta-kills everything. Mixing tactics works best. Shock them to stun, use the sword to knock them down and away, and then shoot them while they're on the ground! And I like playing n game where I don't have to wear armor, because it doesn't matter for damage resistance. Still, you can buy your first suit of armor in Bowerstone for about 15k, and even color it with dyes! It's still purely cosmetic, though. But I prefer just wearing clothes.

It was downright broke in fable 2.

This game has always promised more than it could deliver.

I might get it in a dry period though.

Well money was never really an object, they may give it out too freely but I'd rather that then give it out too harshly.

Getting mine tomorrow morning -.- So close yet so far...

I finished Fable 1 and 2, number two was so disappointing and I'm not too excited for the third...

However, if things like the economy and hopefully others have been improved, I might get it when its cheaper =D

I see that the monetary system is as broken (or worse) as it is in most WRPGs that I've played.

Question though: Is there anything worthwhile to actually spend the money on?
Shockingly, yes. Weapons and clothes are about 15k at the moment. All weapons are now "legendary", with special properties. So, no Iron to Steel to UBER STEEL upgrade trees. Each weapon is unique and with a purpose. I have an anti-Hollow Men pistol I'm favoring in the current area, though. Each weapon has 3 "quests" you can complete to upgrade it with a new property. And these aren't too easy. Some require killing 250 enemies in the day, and befriending 5 people. And since becoming friends now requires quests, that's a quest in a quest. Weapons and their quests are generally themed, like the Casanova, a sword that affects your looks. And the Hero weapons (your 4 default), change as you use them and upgrade your abilities.

I had a feeling that'd be how it's economy would work out. Did they do anything to fix the combat though? Or is it still just spam area attack for win.

Well it annoys me in game when you actually have to work hard to get money. For most games, money becomes redundant by the middle of the game, as there is very little left to buy.
