So far, the Witcher 3 seems kind of sexist

alot of interesting points have been brought to bare in this discussion, and as someone who is getting a little tired of people critically analysing everything that there is sometimes in ways the producers of the content probably never intended them to be looked at in the first place.

Its sexist if you believe it is sexist even if its not, everyone is entitled to there opinion on that matter and I am just as entitled to look at it with contempt and dismiss it or find some grain of truth in what they say, because everyone has a different take, the point im making is though that life is really no fun when you start looking at absolutely everything critically and from every possible angle.

The Witcher 3 is a very entertaining piece of software I think thats all there is to it really.

OF COURSE there is sexism. It's part of the narrative, the message, and the point.
I'm going to be honest, the Baron quest is one that can't be broken down into such simple concepts, however. There's a great deal going on, and neither side is portrayed as having been a decent human being.
I loved it because it was portraying something complicated for the sake of intrigue, not for the sake of moral grandstanding.

I think you're right that there was a lot going on. Beyond the domestic abuse issue it also includes the effects of war on one man and his mindset as well what his absence and the change in him (and his subsequent alcoholism) does to his family.

There's almost certainly more to it than I'm remembering, but even with my limited recall it's more nuanced and compelling than the vast majority of black and white storytelling in games, and I remember being thoroughly engrossed by it.

I already mentioned the main character, of course you don't want the main character ugly, the main character is you. And unless a female NPC is very old, or literally a monster, they tend to be quite attractive. At the very least miles over every single other male NPC.
Yeah but Geralt is ugly. That's one of the reasons I can't get into The Witcher.
What, this Geralt?

Effortless movie-star good looks I would say. Straight up man-candy.

Yes, that Geralt. Fugly scarred wrinkled Geralt.
I don't know why so many people seem offended that I don't find him attractive. If you'd bang him, fine. If you know women who would bang him, fine but personally I think he's ugly.

EDIT: Apologies for being snappy, but half of my irritation from this is how many people (usually guys who are not attracted to guys) keep insisting that Geralt is super-hot. No. I'm not stopping anyone else from wanting to bang him, but he does not and never will float my boat.

I don't think he was so much offended as he was surprised.

Yeah, I realised I reacted a bit strongly, which is why I put my edit in, it's just that's like the third message I've gotten from someone who can't seem to believe I don't find Geralt hot.

It's a little frustrating. I obviously don't see what you guys do. He just looks old and wrinkly and not hot at all to me (and he sounds like he smokes too much). Perhaps I'm just a picky *****, but I just don't see it.

No your right, Geralt isn't hot. Like the narrative says he is hot, but that is more an informed ability. He doesn't look hot to me either.

Sorry to hear that you were inundated by 3 whole messages, that must have been hard. :)

Really though... Meant in good humour.

And let's be honest, even the straightest of arrows finds dudes he finds attractive.
I personally don't find Geralt to be attractive. Not in a conventional sense at least. To quote Pocahontas: "He's so.......Serious."
I think he's a handsome devil. Good head of hair, strong jaw, rugged features. Hot stuff!

I've always wanted to get into this game but never really had the time to give it a shot. I'm into MMORPG's and such so would I be into this game? All advice would be greatly appreciated.

Frankly I never understood the concept of him being sexy. I mean look at him from the cover of Assassin of Kings

I don't know many people who find snake eyes sexy. Also I think women like men who can actually emote. That might've changed in the third game, but in the first two he could not raise his voice above a dull monotone. For anything.

If you're into RPG's I heartily recommend it. You can get it in the UK for about ?15 now, which is a steal for the level of quality and how much content is packed into it. If the gameplay style from seeing it in youtube videos or reviews doesn't put you off, give it a shot.

Geralt is no shouter/cryer/ear-to-ear smiler, but I reckon he's good at letting people know what he's thinking/feeling with his words. His eyes are not his best feature, I'll give you that. They do seem to be toned down for 3 though, and he looks better with a beard.

He also looks good in formal wear. #Geralt4nextBond

That's all part of his cool factor. He's the Polish Clint Eastwood. Pretty sure Clint Eastwood in his prime could have pretty much had his pick of the female population.

Someone above also mentioned James Bond, which is another good example of a character who lacks outward emotional highs and lows, yet pulls massive tail through the aura of cool, calm, and in control.

There's a difference between being cool and being sexually attractive. Clint when he was younger looked a hell of a lot better than Geralt ever did

Yeah, Bond gets plenty of sex...in the movies. Gerald and Bond are more for men to say "I want to be him," not for women to say "I want to be with him." Even then the "I want to be him" part is questionable with Geralt, considering how humorless he is and how miserable his life is.
