Well, Gangnam Style...has style. It's catchy and cool. The weird part is...this was a thing years ago, so why is it so popular right now? I mean, I like it, but why right now?
Because absurdism.Wintermute said:I generally enjoy watching garbage, B movies and terrible Youtube videos that make no sense at all and such, but this is something else. The choreography is awful, I have no idea what he's saying, the guy looks like a total asshole, I could go on.
People I know, however think the video is funny. How is it funny?
The guy is worldwide famous though so good for him.
this, I never liked Beiber, never quite had the standard Beiberphobia of most men I know, just never saw the appeal, I like Gangnam Style, it's fun, jhoroz said:Love it or hate it, I think we can all agree that it is a better alternative than a Bieber music video.
Thank you Psy! You have restored justice in this world.
Off course i'm happy. Song which is purposely silly/ridiculous > Song that has no value and sung by a "guy" who sounds like a girl.bojackx said:At the time of writing this post, Gangnam Style music video has 803,761,928 views, whereas Justin Bieber's "Baby" music video (the previous #1 video) has 803,658,345 views, meaning we now have a new most watched video on the internet.
Your thoughts? Are you happier about the owner of the number 1 spot? Do you even like Gangnam Style?

Basically what lack said: It's just so utterly absurd. To us westerners it appears like a series of bizarre, hilarious non-sequiturs. Also, the way the guy enunciates is just inherently funny IMO.Thespian said:Really? Wow, I just... I dunno, I never found it funny. I don't know how I could - It's a song in Korean filled with inside jokes about south Koreans. So what exactly are you guys finding funny about it? Oh look, asian on the toilet. Oh look, asian lying between another asian's legs. Gold!
No I don't understand the appeal in anyway. I don't find the video offensively stupid or anything, just... kinda lame. Maybe worth a smirk or so but that's it.
The only person to agree with me seems to be Todd in the Shadows.
and just like that I remember my love for Japan, thanks for showing me that was in a bit of a shitty mood...I'm more cheerful nowQueen Michael said:The top spot should have gone to this girl.
I'll just quote myself from this thread:lacktheknack said:Because absurdism.Wintermute said:I generally enjoy watching garbage, B movies and terrible Youtube videos that make no sense at all and such, but this is something else. Also, the choreography and asshole-ishness is justified because he's mocking upper-class people in Korea. (Lyrics can be Google'd.)
I'm not trying to be all "HAH, YOU'RE ALL WRONG!" I just want people to stop praising him for making a parody, when he didn't.Spummy said:Except for the part where it's not a parody as confirmed by PSY himself when someone asked him if it was a critique in his Reddit AMA: http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/120oqd/i_am_south_korean_singer_rapper_composer_dancer/c6r8wm4
It doesn't appear absurd, it is absurd. Do you really think there's a point to every part of this video? The video is mostly just randomness for the lolz. I mean most of it doesn't synch up to the lyrics. And I don't find that all that funny.OhJohnNo said:Basically what lack said: It's just so utterly absurd. I don't think there's ever been any video that's better at giving me that feeling.Oly J said:and just like that I remember my love for JapanQueen Michael said:The top spot should have gone to this girl.
Eh, I'm one of those people who often finds nonsense to be inherently funny, so yeah, to each his own indeed.Thespian said:It doesn't appear absurd, it is absurd. I know what you mean, I guess. The way some of the lines are said are amusing. I'm sure I'd find it funny if I got the jokes, in the way that most countries have sitcoms/comedians specific to their culture (Father Ted is the funniest thing in Ireland purely because it has Irish in-jokes) but as it is, there's nothing about the video that'd make me want to go back. To each their own though I guess.
This is still my favorite Gangnam video.Tiger Sora said:Well, the fact is I actually like it. It took Deadpool to make me like it, but I like it non the less.
And anything to knock that loser down a notch.
