So, yeah. If you're on the site, then you're bound to have read about the Escapist's upcoming Escapist Expo. Chances are, some of you are going. But, more likely than not, you're not. So, how come you're not going?

Me, I can't go because I can't afford to get there and back. I nor the boyfriend drive, plane tickets are too expensive (not to mention the hassle of traveling that way), and Amtrak would be too expensive as well. Also, the boyfriend is being a butthead about leaving New York.

This sucks because not only do I love conventions, the Escapist means a lot to me because I met my boyfriend on it (whom I love dearly), and without him, I'd be in a homeless shelter, or possibly dead (long story). Also, one of our friends that we made on the site is going there, and it so happens to be around her birthday, and we've been wanting to meet up for a long time.

So, what about you?

I think most of the responses you're gonna get are "I couldn't afford it".

Not me though, I'm totally going >.> Provided my illness eases up.

I'm sorry xD I probably shouldn't have boasted like that in your thread. I'm only lucky enough to go because I have amazing friends who've helped me with finances. ^^

Well I am planning and already have passes and a hotel booked so I should be going. But If it turns out I am not going then it's most likely because my mom isn't thrilled about me driving 10 hrs to durham by myself even though I have people there I am going to meet up with.

Sorry but as much as I love the Escapist but I don't love it enough to the point that I will travel to the US with cash on me and also experience jet lag on the way back.

The expense, both time and money. I'd go if it was, like, maybe a two-hours drive, max, but that's going to be considerably more for me.

It's in the US.

This website claimed to be too poor to send Yahtzee to a convention recently yet somehow they're hosting their own expo?

Too far away for one thing, and no one to go with. And if I did go I would just walk up to Yahtzee, Moviebob ect and just ask for a hug. Don't think I would get them to but I would damn well try.

Oh, so there is another thing Sexual harassment clams.

There's a thing called the Atlantic Ocean in the way. Also, I'm a cheap dick and a reclusive hermit.

Be mindful that the circumstances are very different, both in context and in time.

Because I'm in the UK.
I have to pay for things like my house before I can even think of doing something so awesome, and I wouldn't be allowed to fly when it comes to the date of the Expo anyway.
