I canceled my PC preorder and put it on the 360.
I'm not trying to troll with this, it's a serious question but...

Out of interest, why? I keep getting told that FPS's on the PC are far superior to FPS's on the console because of Keyboard/Mouse, so wouldn't it still make sense for a PC gamer to get it on the PC?
COD for the PC is a lot smaller community wise, and has hackers.

I will take the hit on game play, to be able to play a year down the road.

And they are pretty much the same now, no mods, no dedicated servers..

I bought mine from cdwow, so it is already paid for, so don't know how I will go canceling it. I will be sending them an email tough, maybe a can get a store credit or something.

I too reseved a copy. However shortly after it became Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, I was called up by my local Gamestop and told that I would have to pay extra.

I walked 5 miles to that store with the piece of paper that said I had pre-ordered it in my hand. I stormed into the door, showed it to the manager, ripped it up, then threw the bits of paper into his face. Adn then I walked back home.

Whether the price was official or just that store depending on the stupidity/fanishness of their consumer base to make a few extra bucks is unknown to me. All I know is that I'm not going to get that game from that store.

So your just getting the console version, big deal.Seems a bit much to cancel your pre-order.
er no. only reason I wanted the game is for multiplayer. MP was great in cod4 on PC at least. now theres no point buying the game at all. SP will be ok but last a couple of hours. MP will be shite because its console-lized.
How so? I went on the COD4 PC multiplayer recently, and there was not A SINGLE server running. On the console version, however, I can typically always find a game for whatever gamemode I want.

That's awfully funny, I was on Call Of Duty: 4 multiplayer for the PC a few days ago....everything seemed fine to me.

OT: Huh...I was looking forward for getting it on the PC. But seeing as how I have many PS3 owning friends, I'll just invest into the PS3 version now.

lol theres tons of severs all the time, used to be way more even.

might be what version your updated to, its not automatic for that game for some reason. kind of sucks since it splits community into like 3 sections.

but still must be something wrong with your PC plenty of servers.

Wait, so what does this mean exactly, you can't choose which server you join on the PC network? So? That works fine for L4D. If this IW.NET thing is similar to that system then I see no problem, it works fine. I'm sure there'd be some criteria by which you could choose to join different game types. I just hope I won't be stuck joining american servers... bad ping makes me cry. If there's no Australian servers I will return the game straight after completing the single player campaign.

I really hope IW doesn't fuck us over though, I'm not switching to console.

Weird, I guess I just didn't get an update or something.

Seriously, your this bitchy about not having dedicated servers? So what!? Despite what Counter Strike tells you, the point of a game is not the ability to make mods on custom servers that involve download a shitload of random .wav files. The point is to play with other people and have fun. Honestly, I hate having to choose a server. Seriously, why can't the system just choose one with not too much ping, not too many or too little people, on a setting I like. Guess what, standard multiplayer does this quite well thank you very much!

Yeah, pretty much. Boycotts are the new "thing" these days.
I'm going to boycott this boycott.

Personally i dont care. I didn't pre-order anyway. But i'm still buying the game. I dont run servers and i dont play modded servers. So doesn't matter to me. Regular game types will still be on dedicated servers, just run by IW.

Because L4D is a four player game (8 with versus) which most residential broadband connections can handle, 8 player Call of Duty would be as dull as playing a JRPG in black and white while listening to Coldplay.

Player hosting on consoles is fine - lag & hit registration is a lot less noticeable on a controller compared to mouse & keyboard, which is why you can get away with it.

They've basically killed the competitive scene on the PC - who the hell do they think was still playing MW2? 'The Sims Syndrome' crowd all moved to WaW as soon as it was released.

Ahh, I didn't consider that... Now that it comes to my attention though, 32 player games in matchmaking would be ridiculous. Now I can understand the degree to which IW have fucked us over.

the problem is that this represents an example, and its success on the PC could set a trend for other dev's and this would effectively kill PC gaming as its known.
that is scary shit.

First of all, custom content is alot more than random .wav files. Take PropHunt in Team Fortress 2 for instance. It's a completely new, hilarious gamemode that is great to play when you're bored with vanilla TF2.

Secondly, is it really that big of a deal to look through a server browser? It takes maybe 15 seconds and ensures you will play what you want to play. I don't like trusting an algorithm to find a good game for me. Half the time the server is laggy, and it denies me the ability to play the map or map rotation I want.

I regularly play on my PC and my Xbox over the internet, and I vastly prefer server browsing on the PC. I haven't pre-ordered MW2, but I will not be getting it unless they change this.
