Solid, but with an agonizing dry spell over the summer. My overall impression of the year would likely have benefitted from the fall crunch being more evenly distributed over the off season.

In orginality this year was a little disappointing, other than Catherine. But in taking something good and making it better? It did great, BF3, Skyrim, Skyward sword,Dark Souls,Portal 2,Rayman,Super Mario land, total war shogun 2,Deus Ex...A good year in quality.
If Star Wars The Old Republic any way good as I hope than this could be my best year in gaming could be great.

Wasn't too bad compared to last year. I think the only new game I bought last year was New Vegas. This year had Portal 2, Skyrim, Serious Sam 3, and Saints Row 3, which I haven't gotten yet but I'm looking forward to. Could be worse.

Let's see... These are off the top of my head, I may have missed a few.
I bought Mortal Kombat, Portal 2, Blazblue Continuum Shift II, Dead Rising 2 Off the Record, Dead Island, Disgaea 4, Battlefield 3, Red Faction Armageddon, Gears of War 3, Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword, Catherine, Super Mario 3D Land, Ico and The Shadow of the Colossus, Star Fox 64 3D, Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D, Deadly Premonition, Professor Layton and the Last Specter, Resident Evil the Mercenaries 3D, Persona 4, Assassin's Creed Revelations, Dark Souls, Pokemon Black and White. Mortal Kombat, From Dust, Skyward Sword, Catherine, and Disgaea 4 were also Special Editions.

I also played or got Dynasty Warriors 7, Team Fortress 2 on PC, Minecraft, Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3, LA Noire, Pilot Wings 3D, Splinter Cell Conviction, 9 Hours 9 Persons 9 Doors, Dream Trigger 3D, Mobile Suit Gundam Crossfire, Deus Ex Human Revolution, Super Street Fighter 4 3D, and Crysis 2.

I only ended up selling Red Faction and Super Street Fighter 4 3D, and I think the only pre-owned game was Persona 4.

While I got a lot of games I really liked, I was disappointed with a few of them. Dead Rising, Assassin's Creed, and Crysis 2 come to mind. So being not completely satisfied with 5 out of over 30 isn't that bad.

Favorite Zombie game: Dead Island.
Favorite Shooter: Battlefield 3.
Favorite Fighter: Mortal Kombat.
Favorite Downloaded Game: From Dust.
Favorite DLC: Old World Blues.
Favorite Nintendo Game: Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword.
Favorite DS Game: 9 Hours 9 Persons 9 Doors.
Favorite 3DS Game: Super Mario 3D Land.
Favorite PS3 Game: Disgaea 4.
Favorite Xbox 360 Game: Dynasty Warriors 7.
Favorite New Console: 3DS.
Favorite Surprise: the Wiiu, and pretty much everything else that happened during the Nintendo Event during E3.
Biggest disappointment: Capcom canceling Megaman Legends 3, then announcing UMVC3 a day later.
Game that I liked a lot more than I thought I would: Dynasty Warriors 7.
Game I was most disappointed in: Dead Rising 2 Off the Record.
Game I did not get but hope I get for Christmas: Mario Kart 7.

So all and all, I had a pretty great year. A lot of games I liked, and a lot money spent on said games. Hopefully next year will be at least as good, but cheaper.

The year started with playing the crap out of WoW: Cataclysm until I finally grew tired and quit WoW in February. Then I bought and played Assassin's Creed (1 and 2) and Mass Effect (1 and 2). Not very timely perhaps, but they were a wonderful part of my gaming in 2011.

Then I played a ton of Oblivion in preparation for Skyrim.

Which brings us to SKYRIM! :D

... and two weekends of an already awesome beta for SWtOR.

Yeah, it's been a pretty sweet year for me.
