Queued up with two friends, defending a point and the other 3 team members all chose Bastion. We won. But it wasn't very fun, and I felt dirty afterwards.

Aside from that, have had some great matches, although finding a balanced game seems a little random at the moment. It tends to be "stomp or get stomped", which will hopefully correct itself as the levels or matchmaking system works itself out? Maybe when ranked is added I guess?

Yeah, I know what you're talking about. I snuck in a couple games during my lunch break and on Defense on Gibraltar, our team had the enemy pinned in to where they never got past their spawn point and the payload never moved. Next game (new map) it was the same for us: couldn't even get 1/3rd of the way to capping the first objective point.

My understanding is that they completely reset EVERYONE'S stats with the launch...so that means in theory we could be going up against people that have been playing since the closed beta. So yeah, I'm hoping that things will even out once every gets more games under the belts...enough to formulate a decent standing position in terms of matchmaking.

Yeah, it's probably a combination of the reset stats throwing us all into the same pool. But also some tweaks in balance not being done yet to the heroes. I'm sure Blizzard was looking at balance issues during the beta, but it's an ongoing development to try and maintain balance. Especially as players figure out effective (or over-effective strategies).

I'm not too concerned, but certainly looking forward to the game becoming "balanced" through the strength of competition via matchmaking and continued development of the game and necessary gameplay tweaks.

I'm still not sure what changed in terms of balance though. I feel like Junkrat's Riptire has been nerfed somehow but I'm not sure.
It certainly seems to have less health than before. I don't think I've been a part of a team that's actually been hurt by it yet. We always manage to kill it before it explodes.
Health-wise it used to be a 100 and still is. But its explosive radius seems lessened, it seems harder to deal damage with it. I'm not sure how I feel about it. At the one hand; it feels nearly impossible to use now. On the other hand, yesterday someone killed five people at once with it. I don't know man. I wonder if there's a list of patch notes. Blizzard usually is pretty good with those but I haven't seen any this time around.

Hell maybe nothing has changed and it's all in my mind. It'd be good to know.

You know, the same thing kinda applies to D.Va's self destruct. Kinda? It certainly doesn't feel as threatening as it used to.
I've noticed a lot of inconsistency with that the past couple of days though. Sometimes the damage seems like it travels through walls (I got killed when I couldn't even see the mech self-destructing) and other times I feel like I'm screwed and about to die and nothing happens.

Not really adding anything I guess... Like you, I'd like to see the patch notes just so I can stop wondering.

So after taking an hour to get my first win of the game, managed to get my First Play of The Game with D.Va on hanamura, the B objective.

used jump jets to flank a choke point at the main entrance, then Boosted my Mek into a self destruct that let the rest of the team push through.

Could be latency issues - the game reads you in a certain place, when you see yourself in another.

Kinda remember I got a lot of COD killcams where in game the enemy seemed to be walking through a torrent of bullets, but in the killcam I wasn't firing at all.

Thought that may have been the issue, but I haven't seen anything to suggest that in the Kill cams. More likely just getting used to how the various abilities work to be honest.

I don't know about that one, I could have sworn I got killed by a D.Va ult last night when I was behind something...as though the blast wrapped around the box I was hiding behind and killed me because I didn't have my face firmly planted against said box.

Then again, I apparently suffer from a wee bit of lag. As I said, to me I was fully behind the box, no line-of-sight between me and the mech and it still got me. Yet there's times when I'm Phara and I'll die right as I jet-launch. On My screen it looks like they blast me out of the sky within the first 2 seconds of flight, but in watching the kill-cam it shows Widowmaker nailing a head-shot before I even launch.

What I'm getting at is that it's possible it just looked to me like I was behind the box when, according to the server at least, I still had my ass sticking out or something. :p

As for Junkrat's tire: that thing has always been tricky to use, but I've seen people pull off some amazing group kills with it.

Confirmed: Torbjorn's my main when it comes to defense. I've heard my turret placement be described by another random player as being "nefarious." :3
Good turret placement can make or break a defence turn. A good turret placement can literally bring the other team to a grinding halt and be a great defensive base; the enemy team can't get too close because they'll be weakened by the turret and then killed by others or they'll be kept back by the suppressive nature of it. Of course, any decent Reinhardt player negates the turret over distance but NO FUCKER PLAYS AS REINHARDT OFTEN.

But yet, after putting in more time, I'm loving it. Only issues I take with it is that not many people use tanks effectively and Reinhardt is rarely bought out. I'm learning him myself, just so I can switch to him when needed. Also, people who take Torbjorn on an attack mission. Just...why do you do this?

Also also, effective Mei players. While I respect your ability with her and the character, you're really fucking annoying.

Hehe, I like Mei...I don't know how good I am with her, though. She's my Anti PainInTheAss hero...which is to say I bring her out if I'm getting my ass kicked by a Reaper or a Genji, I'll switch to Mei.

I hear you on the Reinhardt issue, though. He's usually my go-to tank (because apparently I suck with D.Va :p), but I don't tank very often, only when I look at the team and have to ask myself "Why the fuck do we NOT have a tank?"

Other than that: the Bastion rage is real. Seriously, there's a couple defense levels where it's nigh impossible to break through if defense goes double-bastion. We just got absolutely stuffed on Volskaya Industries because they went double Bastion and there wasn't jack shit we could do about it. And weren't the "lets just keep trying the same thing!" dipshit team. We mixed it up, switched heroes numerous times, came from different sides, etc...there just wasn't shit we could do to get through. I gotta say, I think there's something wrong with the fact that the hero that many seem to think is the most overpowered/vexing is one that you can literally take a smoke break in the middle of a match and your performance won't suffer for it.

So yeah, chalk me up with the Bastion Haters. How he's gone this long without getting a nerf is beyond me. Something as simple as limiting his aim window to 180 degrees as opposed to 360 would likely make a world of difference, though I've thought of other nerfs for him that would likely be too harsh and nerf him into obsolescence.

Something like capping his look speed while in turret mode...cause fuck'im, that's why! >:3

It's been a blast playing it, I wish that microsoft would allow crossplaying on PCs and consoles so there'd be more people to play with. Been playing as my main set of heroes: Bastion, Reinhardt, Tracer, Mercy, and Pharah, I'm trying to branch out with other classes like the snipers or Genji. Man, did I pick a bad time to start testing new characters.

As far as the team matching goes, I think I'm missing out on team strategies by not having voice chats, but since I have a bad history with those thanks to CoD and Halo games I'm loathe to try in get into it. I feel the chat keys probably hold up better anyway, its just hard to press them and run and gun at the same time.

Loot boxes have been more rewarding but not as plentiful as they were in the beta... I miss my Mercy, D.va, Pharah, and Tracer skins and animations so much man, kinda the ONLY thing I'm mad at about the game. Well, that and the price but (*sigh*) what are you gonna do? Also, I kinda wish the game had it's lore already presented in the game, at least character profiles or settings lore or something.

I have ONE question about Bastion for the devs.

Why does DVA's charge into him not knock him out of turret mode? It should! If I Defense Matrix, and then do a flying tackle into the bastard, it should bonk him out of it.

I just want to know why Blizzard apparently thinks its fine that Bastion is the only character who can very easily wipe an entire enemy team in under 10 seconds - no exaggeration - without using his ult. I mean D.Va can wipe a team quickly, so can Junkrat, Reaper, and McCree. Hell, even Phara can if you catch the enemies in a bottleneck. All those heroes need their ult in order to do it, though...all Bastion needs is a good spot and a left mouse button.

Couple of minor things I've noticed diving through menus- you can turn off killcams if you really dont want to see how you got pwned (especially if its because the bum-rusher you were healing dragged you into a crossfire and left you to die again)

Also, alt-z disables the interface for if you want to, say, do a cool screenshot or use the hero gallery to take a neat photo of you character in a highlight intro to make your desktop or share with friends.

Also, its worth diving through the hero specific control options, as there's some really useful settings there (Zarya and Soldier 76 can have ally healthbars on, mercys healing, widowmankers sniper mode and various wallclimbs can be made toggle instead of hold)

The latter could made Junkrats ult a bit interesting...

Hey, quick question: Besides Widow, Reaper, Junkrat, and the fat mask guy, who are the villains in Overwatch?

Their the only real villains as such, though I'd peg Junkrat and Roadhog more 'agents of chaos' than out and out villains.

Lore wise, there's the talon terrorists (Reaper and Widowmaker), the giant omnic that keeps attacking Korea, hints that the omnic's going rogue was induced by someone, plus the company Symetra works for is registering heavily on the Morally Ambiguous MegaCorp scale, though Symetra doesn't seem down with some of the darker hints, and/or is being kept in the dark of their shadier aspects.

On a side note I don't know if they changed the "Play of the Game" logic but I'm seeing way, way fewer Bastion of the Games since release.
I still see them with a regular frequency, though I do think they upped it so that - at minimum - he has to get a penta-kill in order to get Play of the Game. :p
Nah you can definitely do it with less because I've done it myself once or twice with only three or four kills. But I think they dropped his priority way WAY down.

Then again I've seen some frankly bizarre PotGs. Like...one kill and done, not even an ult shutdown kill. So I dunno what's up with that. I like it not being Bastion 80% of the time though, with each of the other 10%s being taken by Torbjorn's turret and Hanzo's ult respectively. Means you get to see some actually diverse gameplay.

Although I'm still hoping to pull off a D.Va ult into heart-pose emote as a PotG. X-D

It seems odd to have a game whose characters are majority heroes. That just makes me wonder why the heck they are all fighting each other in-game. Blizzard ought to have invested more assets into antagonist characters. I guess that means the future character DLC will be mostly villain-centric.
