Yeah yeah yeah, I know. Short Singleplayer and all that. That's not what I play FPS games for. What I want to know is how's the multiplayer element of the game? The BP system really interests me and it seems like it would be a change of pace from the shooter's I'm playing right now.

I would appreciate opinions that aren't in the vicinity of "HURRRRIT'SACODCLONE!!11!1". please.

It's awesome. Has a good anti-camping measure and keeps you wanting to play more.
Play nao.

To quote myself from a thread I just posted in:

I havn't even touched the singleplayer yet (and probably won't ever, which is the same thing I have done with MW2 and Black Ops). The multiplayer is fun enough to last me just as long as any Call of Duty has. Also the Wolverine drone is the most fun I have had in an multiplayer fps (not including TF2) in a very long time.

One other thing I've been wondering about, how's the recoil on the guns? From the gameplay vids I've watched, it seems like they have quite a small amount.

There's very little targeting assistance, so it balances out, I guess.

It is incredibly low. I don't recall the name of the SMG, it has a code name in this game (and its the Vector from MW2, which I'm pretty sure still isn't it's real name) but long range kills are really easy with it.

Sniping is a one hit kill from the start.
Headshots are instant kills and it takes a couple body shots to get a kill, but it often feels like the body shot count is too high compared to head shot, while engaging someone in the open if you aren't hitting them in the head they can drop you instantly even if you begin firing a full second ahead of them. Proning also gets you killed a lot since your head is the only thing they will be hitting.

They have 3 game modes I think. One is standard TDM, one is a mix between Call of Duty Domination and BC2 Rush. There are 3 points (one of the smaller maps has just 2) and when a team reaches the max score they get 1 point and 3 (2) more points appear behind the losing teams spawn and the whole battle shifts. Havn't played any other but I think I remember seeing another one (more?) in the lobby select.

The multiplayer maps are varied, but there aren't many of them. One is a destroyed suburb, one is a destroyed farm, one is fighting under a destroyed overpass, one is fighting on top of a destroyed urban street, one is a huge (sniper infested) island.
Some of those could be different stages of the same map and I'm certain I missed some.

The BP system works really well. It is easy to constantly be churning out drones (you even start the game with a base amount that is high enough to buy the starter drone) but some of the expensive gear such as tanks or airstrikes require a large of time saving up, and fighting the temptation to buy little things for instant rewards.

The Battle Commander is probably my favorite thing. I got 5 stars in a Wolverine Drone yesterday and had 10 (I think) people dispatched against me when I had a unlimited personal UAV, unlimited battery life, and bonus life. It makes it easier to continue your streak, but also gives the enemy a bonus for ending your streak (and even with the benefits enemies are hardly any stronger than without the benefits).

Bland, it plays exactly like MW. I turned off the game when I killed someone and he dropped a grenade. Yay martyrdom! Snipers don't need headshots to 1-hit kill you just like in MW. Radar is inaccurate and pointless; I found myself dying less when I ignored it. Spawn system is the same as COD, only your camera flies in from above before you spawn. Only thing I liked is the maps are a bit bigger than COD maps.

Class Customization and Weapons
More like Medal of Honor and not like CoD, customization is done with the classes you have (and will unlock), and there are no extra custom clots like CoD. However, more like CoD and less like MoH, you can choose what weapons ( camo and only one attachment), special explosive, and perks. The game also has a perk system (Infantry abilities) where each perk is given a value of 1 - 3 and you can equip no more than 4 points worth.

And that's where the similarities end and HF has its own thing. Each class slot has 2 "purchase slots" which are not exactly killstreaks rewards since you don't have to kill anyone to buy them (i.e. using air drone to spot enemies, capturing locations). The purchase slots determine what you can buy in-game: equipment (Flak Jacket, Personal UAV), rocket launchers, airstrikes (Hellfire Missile, White Phosphorus), and drones (ground drones and air drones). Vehicles also have their own perk system.

The weapons are, surprisingly (since they had over 60 in Frontlines), very limited: the total weapons available are 6 assault rifles, 2 LMGs, 2 SMGs, 2 Sniper Rifles and 1 Shotgun. Snipers do not have attachments, and are only one-shot kills to the head. Attachment variety is geared mostly towards optics and there are no grips or extended mags or double-taped mags, etc.

Gameplay
NOTE- mostly personal experience. As someone who likes and plays FPS games, take things with a grain of salt, since results DO vary.

Spawns are fairly decent and have a neat little feature: when you spawn, the camera goes from air to ground and then spawns you, enabling you a quick battlefield assessment as both friendly and enemy tags are shown. There is some tendency toward spawning near an enemy, but you will for the most part be able to spot them before you spawn. In addition, each game you spawn with 500 BP, allowing you purchase a Humvee straight off or something in your purchase slot.

Maps are customized to the game type and theme, but even the smallest map is larger and more open than a Cod map. The maps remain static, as in they do not open new areas a la Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Map variety is mostly urban and temperate forests.

Battles depend on the players, but for the most part don't resemble CoD; drones, equipment and vehicles don't allow people to play like they do in CoD, i.e. camping (you will get killed by a drone or airstrike or flanked), hit-and-run ghost-silencer (since theres no way to shake off an air done marker unless you kill it or wait it out), one-man armies, etc.

There are 5 vehicles (seat capacity is only 2 except for Scout Heli, which is only 1): Humvee (400 BP), LAV [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MOWAG_Piranha](1400), Heavy Tank(2000), Scout Heli(2000) and Attack Heli(2800).

When you buy a vehicle such as the attack heli, do you keep it until the end of the round or is it completely gone the moment it's destroyed?

When the heli's start coming out, are they a ***** to shoot down or are the attack heli's balanced against infantry?

All vehicles are ompletely gone the moment they are destroyed; you can get out of the vehicle, and you can parachute from helicopters.

There a number ways to counter helicopters: 2 drones, one air (800 BP) and one ground (400 BP), have missiles that lock onto and fire 4 missiles at helicopters; LMGs, while not the best, can certainly bring down a helicopter with only 1 reload; a rocket launcher with a proximity rocket (250 BP) that explodes when near the helicopter; assault rifles have an under-barreled EMP launcher that can bring them down; and of course the ground vehicles are all quite capable of shooting down the heli. It really depends on how much BP you have.

Rdit: I once brought down a heli with a Hellfire from a UAV above that flies higher (a la Predator Missile from MW2), and an unconventional way is equipping the perks "crater-to-order" which makes any drone have a large explosion upon death and "boomer" which increases explosive damage, then ramming a drone into a heli.

Nice to see that infantry vs vehicle gameplay is balanced.

Alright, yeah, this is gonna be my next game as soon as I scrape up the cash.

I was a bit worried about getting Homefront because of what some of my friends have said, but after reading some of the posts in this thread I think I will try and pick it up this weekend, I need something other than Gears to play online!
