So... How's Rift doing?

With the advent of Tera, Guild Wars 2, and The Old Republic, I've been curious about a few of the other MMOs that were said to be huge. Rift, mainly, came to mind, since I really enjoyed it during the beta, but fell out of love once I felt the linearity was too much, and some of the bosses (Mainly the last boss of Deepstrike Mines, if anyone wants specifics) weren't exactly hard, just... Long, in an obnoxious way.

But I digress. With it celebrating it's half-birthday at five bucks, and... God, I think I've heard of maybe two sales involving it, I have to wonder, is it still trucking along, doing it's own thing in silence, or is it actually not doing very well?

I haven't seen/heard anything about it, but I have a friend that loves it a LOT. But otherwise I don't know.

Unsure. I haven't played it. Mostly because it's subscription-based but also because I don't have a powerful enough computer to run it.

Plus, I'm holding out on any MMORPGs until Guild Wars 2 comes out, regardless of if I can or can't run it.

@SinorKirby: Graphics were an odd problem for me. I could run it, but not without that unpleasant choppiness. So I turned it down and... Still not exactly smooth, but it was just fine. It REALLY hurt the polish of the design, though. Thankfully, the color scheme only really came out during Rifts, so I still got to enjoy those when they were there.

I am very excited for Guild Wars 2, actually, more so than TOR (All my friends are going there, so coattails, away!) Admittedly, there's some trepidation, given how I tried Guild Wars 1 and I just felt kind of like "...Eh?"

I haven't logged into Rift for a few months, but have been keeping up on the game. Right now it's firmly solidified the #2 subscription MMO spot in NA/Euro and have been ridiculous when it comes to content update. Since launch they've already had 4 major update patches and are already gearing up for a 5th. Recently they've announced they've passed "1 Million customers," and even accounting for that vague marketing speak, I'd say they're doing pretty good for a no-name developer.

I can't say how it will hold up w/ the juggernauts coming from Arenanet and Bioware, but given it's current momentum and fast development cycles, I'd say they'll put up a decent fight for years to come.

Rift is Fine. Trion is adding new content fairly regularly, as far as I can tell... considering they've only been out for six months. I don't play Rift. Several people I know have abandoned it, or are playing it just to waste time until Guild Wars 2 or The Old Republic comes out. As long as Trion continues to support it alongside the several other projects they have on the burner, I don't see Rift going away any time soon.

PS: They still have a fairly regular show on Gamebreaker.tv about Rift.

I played the Trial, found the lack of direction when picking the souls a little off-putting, So I dropped it after day 2
