So I just beat Dragon age Origins. Alistair is the new king. Morrigan disappeared with my yet to be born son, and the ending was just dandy. Now lets see what kind of End game content there is :D

Hmmm... I am at the camp. Huh all of the quests I did not finish are gone from my Quest list except for the ones asking me to buy DLC.... And I can't travel the world map anymore!? Oh fuck you EA!

So appearently there is NO post-game content! The game takes everything away and asks you to buy DLC is you want to do ANYTHING.

Where do you get off EA!? Or maybe Bio-ware? No... I am certain EA was the ones that green-lite and forced this idea. I mean how else were they gonna milk their customers out of their money?

So anyways I was enjoying DA:O... But now I think it is a horrible bloody game for this stunt.

I might have bought some DLC, but then they went and took everything that made the game good away in order to push their DLC.

I am never touching this game again.

Have you guys ever came across a company pushing it's DLC as much before?

Though I never bought into the DLC for DAO I didn't really give much thought to the above. I mean the game has an ending with an epilogue and 10minute long credits. Most people probably turn it off before the credits are even done rolling XP

Why were you expecting end-game content? Most BioWare games just end.

We still should be allowed to continue with the quests we already got! But nope. Trapped in camp forever.

Yes but I was playing the whole game with autosaves. In most games if you beat it and there is no post-game you go back to before the final battle or something. Not this game! Nope. It saved me at the camp with noway to get out.

Again. FUCK YOU EA.

Seriously? This is the silliest BioWare rant I have ever seen. And that is really saying something.

Edit: ok I'm going to elaborate on this... one moment Elaborated (somewhat poorly):

Okay first of all, there really aren't very many substantial sidequests to really do, but considering that yes, there technically could be some sidequests left over, let's think about what would actually be going on.

Pretty much every location, and especially Denerim, will have had some impact over the huge battle that just took place. You are mad that instead of BioWare developing a new state for each of these locations that reflect what just happened that very few people are even going to bother to explore just so you can finish some of the few dinky sidequests. Seriously take a step back and think how silly that sounds. And don't say that they wouldn't have to do that, because at the very least having everything exactly the same as it was before the battle would seriously lessen the impact of the battle itself.

Not to mention that the results of several of the bigger (or at least more important story-wise) sidequests are factored into the epilogue. It's a story-driven game, meaning the end of the story is the end of the game.

Edit numero... dos I guess:
Thinking about this more. Even with you're feeling that a game should pop you back at your last save point, and if the game didn't save after you beat the boss, you're 'last save' would have been right before the last boss with no way to go back anyway.

Oh excuse me for wanting to finish the rest of the games quests and do more stuff with my character! I guess this is my punishment for only using Auto-saves!

The only Bioware game I can think of with End Game Content was Mass Effect 2, which I thought handled it rather well. Lair of the Shadow Broker always felt like it would be more of an addendum piece than a mission during the main game, so I held off until after I beat the Suicide Mission to start it.

First off, then you have a legitimate complaint and I feel for you. You really should have led with that instead of making it sound like you had an issue with a lack of post game content. Second, I'm not sure what this has to do with EA seeing as how they just published the game and didn't develop it.

Actually... you probably should have used manual saves. What if your autosave gets corrupted or autosaves you in a bugged/glitched situation you can't get out of?

It is.

I really don't see why you expected this to go any differently...if you aren't done everything you wanted to do in the game, don't finish it.

Wait...actually, you can. Just go back to the main game menu and select "Resume". I'm pretty sure it starts you back off in the party camp immediately after the Landsmeet (but with the abilities and items you've gained since that point).

Oh, but you should still not rely on autosaves for any game. I usually cycle three or four saves.

I do have all my things. But I got no quests. I cannot go anywhere except the little gold area on the map that is an ad for DLC. This is my problem. I can only go to camp.

Wow that's a silly rant, and fairly misdirected (and unnecessary) hate!
As I'm sure any RPG fan would tell you: use saves and complete all the quests you want before the game ends (it's pretty damn obvious when you're headed for the final no-turning-back point!)
In fact, it would make more sense for those quests to be gone after the game; most involve Darkspawn who are now legging it back to their holes!

The OP shouldn't be locked out of content for forgetting to save manually. That's bullshit. You shouldn't automatically expect post game content (obviously) but you should still be allowed access to side quests after you've beaten the game.

Imagine if after you'd beaten Saints Row: The Third, but you still had some activities to do. If you were then unable to play them you'd be understandably pissed off.

Oh but the game actually tells you that everything you do after beating it is BEFORE the final battle. There go those holes.
Again this pissed me off.

I know they are the publisher but knowing them they probably pushed this idea on Bio-ware just to get people to buy DLC.

Yeah, you really don't have a leg to stand on. This would be like complaining that FF7 didn't let you go back and defeat the Weapons that you didn't bother with before you beat the game.

My suggestion to you: start a new character and don't blaze through the game. Do the side-quests as they're given to you...I thought this was standard operating procedure for most RPG fans. The game is over, you beat it...the end. Dragon Age, while letting you pick which order you want to do the quests in, is by no stretch of the imagination a sandbox. So yeah, the jokes on you if you actually expected to continue piddling around in some kind of post-game free roam.

As for the auto-saves, that's never a good idea when dealing with RPGs. What happens when you get auto-saved right before a big boss battle and it turns out your hopelessly unprepared for said boss so you just get your face stomped in over and over again...you're officially stuck. I'd imagine most RPG players (or at the very least, myself) have two or even three saves of the same game. It's always a good idea to have something to fall back on.

The "post game DLC" is just extra stuff that you by all means are under no obligation to buy unless you enjoy the game and would like to see your character's story continue. Awakening is a fine expansion pack to the game, Witch Hunt allows you to chase down Morrigan McHottits and see what happens with her, and those are actually the only two that I was interested in. So in short: if you don't want them, that's fine. You don't have to get them.

The only thing you can bash EA for PUSHING DLC is Warden's Keep, the guy that's always standing in your camp and telling you to go to this place then he asks for your credit card number.

You should definitely develop a habit for saving manually, especially in massive games like Dragon Age. Personally, I try to create a new save before every substantial mission, and sometimes more often than that. I have 35 saves for my most recent playthrough of Mass Effect 1, which equates to a fresh save every 30-45 minutes or so. That way if something goes wrong, or if I want to experience an extremely specific part of the game without slogging through the whole thing again, I'm free to do so. I do this with all RPG's now. Mass Effect 2, 55 saves (the max). Dragon Age 1 & 2, 50+ saves. Final Fantasy games? I usually save once every hour or two, and overwrite my saves when I'm grinding to level up characters.

While it's frustrating to beat a game and realize that you can't clear the stuff you missed, simply relying on autosave is just a bad idea.
