I never found the game addictive, personally. I did find it incredibly grind-happy and short on quick team functions in the GUI. Aside from that, the writing is decent (and often funny, at least on the horde side) if you bother to read any of it, the in-game world is impressively built, and most of the people who actually role-play are quite helpful and friendly.
The serious min-maxers tend to be dicks, though.
I wound up quitting with one character at level 47, and about 10 others around level 20. This new free edition might just be perfect for me to mess around with from time to time...

I'd like to go on record in defense of Tax_document. I've been playing WoW for a little bit now, and it's just like all my other games: a hobby. If you know how to be an adult about things, it isn't hard. Seriously, just be responsible.

Also, the free trial will make sure you don't get too into it. The lack of communication with others and the 20 level cap will keep you from wanting to play too much. Plus, you're looking at $100 for all the expansions + game with the best deal out there at the moment, not to mention a $15 monthly sub. It's a lot of money to put down for a game that isn't all that AMAZING. It's a time filler and a fun way to work together with your friends. If you feel like it's anything more, you should see a psychologist about your own addictive neuroses.

I haven't touched WoW for about 2 years now (max leveled a rogue in Lich King, but that was it). I never found myself addicted, but I eventually got bored. I may just join up for the free to play (since it's a level cap of 20 anyway) just to play around.

DONT GO INTO THE GAME its not easy to quick iv been sober of it for a month but its close to sucking me back in its a drug i tell you and it destroyed me D: it took me awile to get my no life back to life
No, that's because you're weak-willed twelve year old with the mental capacity of a Rhino in rutting season, it's not addicting at all, in anyway.
Ha it was only a joke lol but nice job insulting someone about this and assumeing there age is 12 and insulting there Mental capacity based on one little comment you lack any right to judge someone on one statement but eh its the internet i only come here for the videos on this and youtube and thats about it so ya get over your self.

It was more your grammar, spelling and attitude towards the entire thing that I think you're twelve.
Wow, someone is being aggressively defensive of WoW. Addiction exists in WoW, it's a fact (although I'll spare you the reports of deaths due to addiction and such, I'm sure you're aware of them). Also there's an expression you might have heard before, "people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones", which I'll apply because you've yet to post anything grammatically correct.

I never got addicted to WoW, the only reason I ever played is because it gave me and my cousin something to do. I've been more addicted to Maplestory than WoW!

If your the type of person that had to collect all the flags in Assassins creed just because they were there, you should probably stay away from WoW for your own good. I've been playing it off and on for years now. For me its more of a social activity, i've got a group of friends that i play with and how much i play really depends on how many of them haven't gotten bored and taken a break.

There is an imperial shitton of grinding and collecting to be done, so if your easily suked into that kind of thing and don't want ot have all your gaming time consumed by Wow, just don't.

I did the 14 day trial thing, I have no idea what happened those 14 days, or what sleep was. Just a warning, next thing you know you have a beard bigger than a bear's clunge.
The bears clunge line made me laugh for a good while, well played. I think I might steal it.

OT: I don't play mmo's for the pure reason that I would forget what outside looks like very quickly. I know I have the addictive personality (mainly with games) so I stay the hell away from any mmo.

It's a great game that you can easily play without getting addicted. Enjoy it while it's free; if you like it play more. If you don't, wait on SWTOR or GW2. Easy :)
