So I ran across this post( http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.227144-Motivation#7807690 )and it made me remember that I couldn't finish Mass Effect my reasons for this are exactly as the subject suggests. I just could not finish it which is really weird for me. I remember landing on this one planet and I had to search these space monkeys for for something and just saying to myself out loud "This stupid" and just quiting so I was just wondering I'm I the only one who had a problem with Mass Effect. I searched the Gaming forums and nothing leaped out at me. So have at it.

Edit: I didn't quit the game just because of one side quest I quit because it generally bored me. Also why is evil space robots and you are chosen one any better than any other game.

Sorry, grammar freak.

But yeah, Mass Effect 1 isn't really for everyone. I've never really been a big fan of the side quests it has. Have you tried Mass Effect 2, by chance? The shooting mechanic is vastly improved and the side missions are a little better.

Sure, download the demo of Mass Effect 2 to give it a try. It's better for those with shorter attention spans.

I remember that one and I agreed it sucks; however, (is this the correct usage of however with the semicolon or?)you could have skipped it. The game is great, you should try to finish it.

To each their own. I know in games with side quests, it does seem like stupid busy work. I don't know that it has ever been so bad as to make me want to quit playing a game entirely. Doesn't really sound like you were much into the game anyway, so it was probably good you found a reason to stop feeling you were wasting your time. I doubt playing the sequel would help, and I hope you can find another game you'd like.

I didnt like either Mass Effects, the AI was too poor to be a challenge or of any help. Gameplay wise I thought it was a poor Gears of War clone. Both games had excellent lore to them though.

Wow, thats incredibly condescending.

OP: Yeah, I didn't like Mass Effect either. The game had NO redeeming qualities to me. The story was crap, the gameplay was crap, and the characters were less than tolerable.
I WANTED to like it, but the entire game just left me underwhelmed.

Hopefully the second one will leave me with a better feeling.

i feel a deep sense of regret if i don't finish a game, like im going to miss something awesome that will be a once in a lifetime experience. im usually wrong but the few times that it does happen make it all worthwhile.

I got bored of it twice.
Both time I got to about the same place before I gave up to do something fun.
I could have enjoyed the whole game, if it not for 1 thing they left out.

Imagen this:
At any time in the game you could:
"Press X to Kill Shepard"
Shepard would pull out a pistol and shoot him self.
The game would then eject from the trey and desintegrate.

Weird, I found the monkeys really fast. In fact, I found them before I knew I needed to look for them.

Please elaborate. Mass Effect's story seems to be its most praised point, and I personally thought it was pretty deep and interesting.

I know what you mean, Mass Effect 2 is more of the same, its all boring crap, to me Mass effect always struck me as a RPG that was about 80% boring RPG story and 20% average over the shoulder shooter game. Im not some button mashing boomfest moron who cant enjoy a story just because I havent killed something in the last 10 seconds. Im all for a good story but Mass Effect was so focused on story I quickly lost intrest, Metal Gear Solid 4 had the exact same problem.

I'd hate to see you comment on a bad game if you have this to say about Mass Effect.

It's technically condescending to instantly assume that shorter attention spans are a bad thing. Good job.

You didn't like Mass Effect? SHUN!! SHUN!!

OP:The side quests weren't all that great in Mass Effect, most of them required to going to one of two or three base layouts and fighting a couple people before ending the mission. The main storyline was much better.
