Sorry, grammar freak.

But yeah, Mass Effect 1 isn't really for everyone. I've never really been a big fan of the side quests it has. Have you tried Mass Effect 2, by chance? The shooting mechanic is vastly improved and the side missions are a little better.
Sorry about the grammar I might check out Mass Effect 2 but I'm little concerned that all the complements that people give the game are because of the whole choices carrying over from the first one thing.

You stopped cause of one of the side quest??? you could jsut have droped the quest and contined the story line you know
It wasn't just the one side quest it well the whole game I didn't like the shooting mechanics and the story about evil robots bored me(kind of why I was on the side quest)

I didnt like either Mass Effects, the AI was too poor to be a challenge or of any help. Gameplay wise I thought it was a poor Gears of War clone. Both games had excellent lore to them though.
Did you ever play on the hardest difficulty? The AI get much more challenging, very quickly. Gameplay wise, it all depends on what kind of character you chose, by the sound of it, you chose soldier.

Also, I've heard many people have complaints about the first game, and the second, but I haven't met anyone who LIKES rpgs that didn't like Mass Effect. The quest was obnoxious, and btw;

:::SPOILER ALERT:::

That quest is actually a trap, you get trapped in a cave with a live nuke. The whole monkey thing is kinda BS.

:::END ALERT:::

I recommend giving the game another shot. Ignore the side quests if they annoy you, none of them are really necessary, however the game may be a little short without them. A game should not be judged solely on the quality of its side-quests, if this was the case, every single new game out there would be in the crapper.

Mass effect one was.. Awful.
It had an interesting setting, but that's it. The only reason I pushed myself to beat it is because I liked Mass Effect 2.
But even then, it was like walking through barbed wire the whole time.

So I ran across this post( http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.227144-Motivation#7807690 )and it made me remember that I couldn't finish Mass Effect my reasons for this are exactly as the subject suggests. I just could not finish it which is really weird for me. I remember landing on this one planet and I had to search these space monkeys for for something and just saying to myself out loud "This stupid" and just quiting so I was just wondering I'm I the only one who had a problem with Mass Effect. I searched the Gaming forums and nothing leaped out at me. So have at it.
*sigh*

I didn't like that Legally Blonde movie a few years ago... But I think I'll go and make thread just to let people know I didn't like it because of that one scene where that guy walked through that door too loudly...

Please save these kind of opinions for twitter or some other such nonsense. Because honestly how is any kind of decent discussion supposed to arise from what I just wrote, let alone what you just wrote... It's not even like you explained why you disliked the entire game based on one singular and largely insignificant aspect of it...

Everone hated that sidequest.In the second game, there's actually another sidequest involving shooting them with a large cannon and feeding them to a varren.

Just return to the Normandy and get on with your game.

Honestly, I never bothered with the side missions in Mass Effect that involved going to those worlds that used the Mako. The ones that you could pick up during the main storyline I got, but I didn't stray too far from there. I really liked the game, but some of the side missions were dull. Why would you get hung up on one side mission though?

ME2 did them better, but it in order to do many of them it involved planet scanning. Ugh.

you're allowed not to like it.

incidentally, that quest is where you can do the "Infinite Paragon" glitch.. Find the Monkey data pad without killing any monkeys, save your game, load your game and then just keep clicking on the monkey until your paragon is full.. unlike other save hacks, this one stays on, so you don't have to keep resaving/reloading.

Please elaborate. Mass Effect's story seems to be its most praised point, and I personally thought it was pretty deep and interesting.
Eh, I just thought it was pretty generic. It never really connected with me. I WANTED to like the game, but I just couldn't.

I'd hate to see you comment on a bad game if you have this to say about Mass Effect.
I did comment on a bad game. I commented on Mass Effect. As in, a game that I think is bad. Deal with it.

It's technically condescending to instantly assume that shorter attention spans are a bad thing. Good job.

I remember that one and I agreed it sucks; however, (is this the correct usage of however with the semicolon or?)
Yes, it is correct.
It is a rather pointless usage of however, as it seems as if you are going to go on to defend the game. Just cut the sentence off after "sucks." Also, put "agreed" in the present tense, and put a comma after "one."

I wouldn't be correcting you, but you asked for it.

Mass Effect is admiitedly weak in the sidequest department.

The main story is epic though. The second one has much better sidequests

I'm sorry, but we can not be friends.

On topic: You really should give the game another chance, admittedly the sidequests are weak, and that one in particular, sucks a big fat one. But still don't deprive yourself of a great game because of some dumb monkeys.

Really? It goes both ways does it?
Because I think it only goes one.

By the way things have gone, you're a "jackass" by accidentally insulting the more impatient, and I'm a "jackass" by calling you out on it.

Goodness, it's easy to be a jackass these days. You used to have to injure yourself on TV for the amusement of teens, but not anymore.

I didn't like Mass Effect either. From the beginning my enthusiasm and level of fun I was having kept dropping until eventually I shut the game off.

The party members were introduced within the first hour, everything had a busy, boring sci-fi feel and look to it, the combat was crap yet they kept on hauling it out, the story didn't engage me and neither did the setpieces or characters.

Well, okay. Not every game is for everyone after all, I liked Mass Effect but apparently you don't. I'm sure there are plenty of people who don't like RPGs or Mass effect specifically *cough*Yahtzee*cough* that would agree with you. The game tends to be praised because people who play it like RPGs and those who don't avoided it in the first place.

Well, personally, I don't see how anyone likes Kingdom Hearts, or the entire Final Fantasy series, for that matter, but I don't feel the need to tell everyone about it. I mean, wow, people have different taste in games, what a fucking shocker.

Put a little more simply: No one cares. Or at least, no one should care.
