Hmm...I might be on my schools watch list. All the teachers are nice to me. Although, it may be because I try to be nice to them.

where the hell is the proof that atheists lack empathy?

sounds like your list maker is over estimating you on your "assumed interests"

when it comes right down to it Atheist have as much reason to be empathetic and be a contributing member of society as Christians do, maybe more because they don't have this God Person to clean up their messes
we just have different reasons for it, while Christians do so because if they don't they'll be smited by their god or any passing paladins Atheists do it because they know that natural selection in Primates favors the team players, if you have three men in a village, a man who is a good person and helps out his community, a man who acts like a little kid, and a man who spends his time on the outskirts of the village being antisocial... who gets to pass on his genes to the next generation?

aka who gets laid?

hell that's a reason for Christians to avoid being a good person because apparently God hates in when people have sex
Your ignorant assumptions and judgements about things you don't know are baffling as is your grammar. Don't turn this topic into a soapbox for you to degrade and insult people of different beliefs please, because you'll only degrade yourself.

My school tried to get me to see a child shrink a few times. once for trying to stab someone (i didn't) and once for a suicide note found in the toilets with my name on it (a friends idea of a joke. wasn't even my writing, thats the fucked up part. lol)

both times i was sent to a doctors first and he deemed me completely sane (which is a surprise in itself)

so if i was at your school, i'd have probably been on it as well.

My suggestion would be to wait until after graduation so they can't prevent you from graduating and then maybe tell the local newspaper about it and see if they're interested in doing an investigation.

What, is your school run by Jack Thompson?

Seriously though, I thought people were done with this generalizing based on the Columbine Shooting years ago.
No. It has only gotten worse. As time goes by and we have more and more instances of people snapping they will only refine it till they start issuing a psych-profile test as part of the standard battery of tests all students take. Answer one way and they put you in a padded classroom, answer another and you're spending the day chained to your chair hoping someone will come to you with a Baby Ruth.
I was given a wide birth after because I wore a trench coat and fedora; but all the teachers knew I wasn't a problem child, and my friends defended me when kids who didn't know me opened their judgmental mouths. I loved defying conventions and challenging prejudices.

You should definitely confront the head of the guidance department about it, and if they don't publicly apologize and immediately end this, you should take it to the local newspaper. Profiling you, especially profiling you based on being an atheist is a serious, serious violation of your rights in the USA (And most other countries I expect.) If this is a public school there is no way they can be allowed to do this, and if this is a private school, parents should know that this is being done to their children.

I swear, eventually we will destroy the world 'for the good of the kids.'

Which is weird, because I don't have any interest in goth subculture or a death fascination. I do like metal, but so? Also the part about me being an atheist is ridiculous (the school is in a Protestant/Catholic town).

Anyone else think this is a bit weird?
i would call it very weird but i'd currently be storming into the principals/head teacher office and demand an explanation to these out right lies/total miss communication (and i assume the "lack empathy" bit was an immediate conclusion base on the sole fact that you are atheist and they dont really know much about it?, question that in detail as well) (?).
I completely agree here. This is absolutely ridiculous. I might even switch schools over this, if I were you. Seriously, you might even have grounds for a lawsuit for discrimination and labeling due to religious beliefs. It's been proven that labeling a student can severely affect their performance in school, too, so take from that what you will
If the information was obtained illegally I don't think you can lawsuit

I was on that list in high school... I only found out after explaining that if I didn't get a copy of my permanent record I'd come back with police officers (no clue if I could have gotten any or not :p

I was applying to colleges and i wanted to know what I had to look forward to... yeah this ended up with a lawsuit with the school district and now I'm in College, my permanent record was inadmissible, and I don't have to pay a cent... Logic bless good lawyers

I say steal the file and show it to your parents and possibly alert the local news about this.
Ohhhh pleaaaaaase do this I would love you forever OP.
This is disgusting and insulting. And asking to keep the student at a stable emotional level? That is bullshit. I'm really upset about this. I am so glad I left school.

Get the news involved.
If they keep these records and make it so you would never be able find it then fine. But the fact is, you found it. And if this record ever got out it could damage your life or career. Hey you found it so someone else could. If you drag it out into the open and squash these profiles/accusations then that will be you controlling how the world sees you.

That's pretty weird, are they even allowed to do that?
Also, since when does interest in science, metal and a lack of caring for religion make you a psychopath? I love science, violent video games, world-domination plans, metal/rock music and don't give two hoots about god or religion, but I'd never go out of my way to hurt anyone, but according to your school I'm a psychopath? That's a fail on their part. I'd bring it up with your parents and the school board. Its messed up.

Wait so because i'm an Atheist i'm more likely to shoot people?
Of course you are. If you can't get God down to throw some lightning round it's the second best way of getting the job done! :D

OT: Although I doubt they have an official profile on me, I know my lecturers are basically like
New Lecturer: "Who's this Joe then?"
Old Lecturer: "Well, he's a bit weird and doesn't think before he talks, but he's pretty bright and really enthusiastic."

Oddly enough I know that because someone matching that exact description said "Oh, you're the one that's..." when I told him my name.

They probably just keep that sort of thing as some over reactionary measure to one of the US school shootings. It doesn't mean anything as far as your future is concerned, they probably just keep it in a drawer and burn it after you graduate, and if you do go on a shooting spree they can say they had put in measures to try and prevent it before someone tries to sue them.

The only thing it instructs staff to do is to "act nicer" around him. It's not like they're asking for him to be treated like a leper or pushing him out of classes. Anyone who thinks that extra smiles is grounds for a lawsuit is out of their minds.

Ah it's not a huge deal, it just means that they are aware of your hell mad FPS skills bro, and if you were to shoot the school up no one would stand a chance, so think of it as giving them a fighting chance..

but in seriousness, I don't see it as that big of a deal, my permanent record wasn't all that good either, although I don't think I obtained 'potential shooter status', but then again I'm only a little bit of a sociopath haha, the bright side is if you come out with this it might give you some reputation, always good for an personal image change.
