Yeah, i finally jumped onto the sony bandwagon and now own one of it's biggest beasts the sony Playstation 3.

with it i got BF3, but what are some good starter games? and don't tell me BF3 will be an awesome starter because i don't like BF altogether as it's multiplayer is over-hyped, and the single-player was shit.

eventually upset flamed people aside,

What are some good games to have me completely sold on the system?

Try:
Uncharted 1,2,3
Killzone 2,3
Resistance 1,2,3

All great games... or you know exclusives aside buy Skyrim.

God of War 3, Resistance 3, and Metal Gear Solid 4(If you're into stealth games) are good PS3-only games

I have really enjoyed the Uncharted series and you can pick up a combo pack of 1 & 2 for a decent price. That, of course, suggests you also pick up the third installment.

You've also got the benefit of the newly re-released ico/shadow of the colossus as well as the remastered God of War 1 & 2 (and the psp ports as well). While you are at it, you might as well pick up God of War 3.

I can't think of any other exclusives that I've played that I enjoyed more than those I've already mentioned. Happy gaming.

Check out some of the HD re-releases, if you never got a chance to play them on PS2. From my memory there are:
Tomb Raider trilogy
Prince of Persia Trilogy
Sly Racoon Collection
Splinter Cell Trilogy
Ico+SotC
God of War Collections
God of War Collections Vol.II

Infamous 2, the Uncharted's, Resistance 3, and perhaps a Ratchet and Clank? All great exclusives.

Both inFAMOUS games (2 is better but play one first to get the story), all Uncharted games and Heavy Rain.

You can acquire Mass Effect 2 with almost all of the DLC on the disk. There's also Catherine and Demon's Souls.

Valkyria Chronicles, without a doubt. It's an often passed over ps3 gem.

God of War 3 is good, but fast. Little Big Planet 1&2 are great for the creative side, however much they're a time-suck.

Metal Gear Solid 4, as people have said, is a great addition as are the Infamous games.

Heavy Rain is very fast and not very rewarding, but it's a great rental.

Many new HD collections coming out and plenty of PSN games to look through.

Out of the exclusive series, I would advise you to get:
- The God of War series (4 of them are available as packed HD remastered versions)
- The inFamous series
- The Ratchet & Clank series
- The Uncharted series
- The Metal Gear Solid series (an HD remake of some of the previous ones is about to be released and the first one is available online)

Those I recommend wholeheartedly. I could also recommend you the Resistance series and the Killzone series, but those are more hit or miss for me.

Infamous 1, if you like that then i strongly recommend inFamous 2, and Festival of Blood if you really like that.
Uncharted series...
LittleBigPlanet 2 (no need for 1st one now)
GOW3
MGS4

Also look around PSN store... Beyond Good and Evil is good.

RPG Dark souls, Skyrim, fallout series, deus ex
fps well Bf3 and cod are the popular ones but early next year you should check out csgo
driving gt5 is a good game
theres also gta4(wasn't a fan but alot of people liked it) mgs4 gow3.
I would defiantly rec portal 2 and ico/sotc hd remake.
Also I din't like uncharted or resistance myself but alot of people rave about those so that might be a good start and then there's the assassin creed games also.

One last thing check out the online store as there is some very good games on that and also classic releases also.

Oh man, forgot about PSN. Definitely recommend Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Outland, and WipEout HD. I would recommend Bastion in a heart beat, but it's unfortunately not available on the PS3...

Resistance 3 has a stellar single player. I haven't played much of the multiplayer but what I have played is fun for both buddies on the couch and online. My brother played it literally all weekend. Unfortunately, the original Resistance is just OK and the second one barely scrapes the surface of OK, what with all the balance issues and the refilling health/two weapon limit the second one had. Never fear, the third doesn't have those problems at all!

Uncharted 2 has some of the best writing this side of Bioware and its levels and gameplay aren't bad to boot, though I have to admit that it never struck me as the "best action adventure game EVAR" that so many reviewers placed on it upon release. Like Resistance 3, its multiplayer is really good. People still play it.

The God of War collection packs two of the best action games I've ever played, and while my action game resume isn't as long as I'd like it to be the games are still great. The Origins collection, even though it was on the PSP, translates to the PS3 perfectly and Ghost of Sparta somehow looks better and clearer than God of War 2 did on the PS3.

InFamous is a pretty fun to play open-world game.

If you're in for something colorful and don't mind something that kids could play without anybody worrying, pick up the two Ratchet games on PS3. Not only are they gorgeous, they're also incredibly fun.

There will be a Jak and Daxter HD Collection coming soon. Unlike the other games on this list, this particular one is a NECESSITY. You must get it if you own or have access to a PS3. And if you have a PS2, you must get the first three.
Resistance 3 is a great game. I've been playing through the game in co-op, but I'm sure playing it alone doesn't detract from the experience. The drop-ship boss is really cool...you actually have to know your surroundings!
