and I hate the OS it,s a Polaroid MPC700GPR001 and it came pre-installed with some sort of shitty version of Android 2.2 (it can,t access the official Android marketplace) is there a way to install the real version of Android 2.2?
PS
alternatively I own a Android phone (got the tablet because of it,s small screen and bad processor) is there a way of copying the installation files from the phone to the tablet?

I hate to say it, but you might be screwed. I can't seem to find any information on rooting Polaroid Android tablets--what I can find are a few isolated posts by people trying it and not having much luck.

If anyone can do it, though, it'd be the guys on the XDA Developers Forum [http://forum.xda-developers.com/]. They're the ones who helped me root both of my Android phones and install custom ROMs on them. Give it a look.

Edited to add: If you're mainly interested in the marketplace and your tablet will allow you to load applications from unknown sources (check in Settings -> Applications and see if you have a checkbox for the option), you can download and install the Android Market .apk file from here [http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/11/01/download-android-market-3-3-11-adds-new-settings-default-auto-update-update-over-wi-fi-only-shortcuts-and-more/].

it doesn't like it (refuses to run) I already own a phone running the full version of Android 2.2 can't I extract the installers from the phone and copy those to a Micro SD card?

You get what you paid for.

Why didn't you research what you were going to buy (it's clear you didn't) and buy something good?

It's all your fault you ended up with crap.
yeah it was extremely cheap and supposed to be a present for my mom (she wanted a device for e-mail but the Tablet doesn't like POP3 servers)

And this is why you don't buy everything that shines, read up what things do for the love of christ.

If there is no solution on the net then I suggest taking it back, and if that isn't an option wait till someone writes a new Linux version that goes with everything, but those aren't exactly casual user friendly.

Is it that you have no Marketplace app or that you just can't access the marketplace but have the app? If you can install APKs then there are marketplace APKs on XDA devs or even just the install for the entire Google accounts management that you sometimes need if you installed Cyanogenmod.

If you have both the marketplace and the rest of the Google account services then I'm not sure what else you can do beyond looking for a vanilla android install for your particular tablet or finding a custom ROM like Cyanogen or MIUI that's compatible and rooting/flashing that.

for some reason it doesn't want to run the official market place (installation of APK,s works fine but it doesn't always want to run the applications) I don,t want to tinker with the OS too much (since I don't have the money to replace it if I where to brick it) can you tell me if I can copy the installation files from another android device to this one? (I already own a Samsung Galaxy Mini that runs the same OS)

Can you return it? If so, you could get a Kindle Fire for 200 USD. It is roughly 20 USD more than the Polaroid Tablet from what I saw online.

I'm not 100% sure on that, but I think the short answer would be no. It should technically be possible but you'd have to know how to alter the drivers to work with the hardware in the new tablet otherwise the touch screen wouldn't function, and that's if you can even get it to boot. Rooting it and flashing a ROM isn't ideal either as most warranties don't cover a lot of technical failures you may have afterwards. Other than taking it in for repairs or replacement there's not much I can suggest that isn't getting too technical and wasting time.

the store I bought it at sold it for 70 euro,s there isn't really any other tablet I can get in that price range.
I,m planning to save up for a HTC cellphone to replace both the tablet and Samsung Galaxy Mini I have now.

No, he shouldn't. iPad's are overpriced, you can get a Kindle Fire that is FAR better than an iPad for half the price.

They're better value for money, but better than an iPad(If someone were to offer you one or the other free)? Hell no.

Hell yes! iPads are just oversized iPhones. While there are more apps for the iPad, Android Marketplace is catching up. Android is just faster, more open, and damn cooler.

So the iPad has a more fluid UI, much higher specs, better build quality and currently more supported apps. But because the droid platform is "faster" (It definitely isn't, it runs like a slug on the Fire) - more open (It's an open system but this doesn't matter to most consumers) and apparently cooler it gets a pass? No, it does not. You're comparing a cheap and affordable tablet to an extreme luxury item and I can't see how one would prefer it other than for hipster (You've probably never heard of THIS tablet) value. I use the Android platform, but in no way have Apple wasted the millions they spend developing their software. It's somewhat overpriced but it's good, solid stuff.

Also; the iPad is a full tablet, the Kindle Fire is a stretched out ebook reader. They do not compare favourably.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I mean that Android tablets in GENERAL are better than iPads, not specifically the Kindle Fire (although I still think it is better)

By faster I meant the browser, the speed is quite a bit faster than an iPad (coming from someone who used to own one).

I don't know about you, but for me the UI used on Android 3.3 + just seems better and easier to use than the iPads. And I can definitely say that the Android Tablet I use (the Medion LifeTab) has better specs than the iPad.

I only mentioned the Kindle Fire as it is relatively cheap and well priced Android Tablet, the rest of my observations were about Android tablets in general.

Actually people you can hack a kindle fire without much difficulty and turn it into a decent full fledged Android tablet. I want to know how much u paid for that tablet.
